I have been wanting to try their Italian beef for so long and I'm so glad that I finally did! I got…read morethe regular size, it was fully loaded and way more than enough. The beef was perfectly tender and well seasoned. I got the au jus on the side which I'm glad I did because as fresh and delicious as the roll was, it was pretty soft and not sturdy enough to hold all of that flavorful beef. The flavor of the au jus was incredible and it was nice to be able to dip and pour a little on top as I gobbled down. I also got the tomato salad and marinated mozzarella. The tomatoes were super fresh and juicy and all of the vegetables were crunchy and fresh! I only got one cucumber slice but at the same time I also ordered the smallest size so that's just how the cookie crumbled in terms of ratios. The mozzarella might have been the best I've ever had. The seasoning on the outside was amazing and the freshness and moisture was absolutely perfect. I tried the pizza slice at Brady st fest and it was pretty solid. The sauce had a slight sweetness to it and there was a very nice cheese to sauce to crust ratio. I love a good thick layer of cheese and this definitely had it! The Italian sausage was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was on point! The staff was super friendly and helpful. The inside of the store had a really unique feel, almost like I was in another country. I can't wait to go back to their deli and try more of their delicious food!

WHERE to begin? I've…read morebeen familiar with B&B since its earliest days (which roughly coincided with the earliest days of another great Milwaukee institution, Outpost Natural Foods -- where I was a member and volunteer). A good friend of mine cooked at B&B for a while. As young, recent college grads, my wife and I regularly ate there. Along with Oriental Drugs, the Blue River Cafe, The Outpost and Century Hall, B&B was a favorite, comforting go-to spot. Although I couldn't visit very often during my 25 years on the west coast, I was so very happy to know that it was still here, and as wonderful as ever, when I returned to Wisconsin in 2008. How funny to think that this tremendous haven for those wanting to include at least some vegetarian foods in their diet occupied the spot once known for Frenchy's restaurant (the place famous/infamous for its bear and lion steaks)! I'll need a new place to eat before going to the Oriental Theater. And I'll need a long time to process the sadness I feel. All the best to the owners and staff . . . and here's hoping that maybe B&B will live on in another location.

So sad to see this place closing (this coming January). Great comfort food and a haven for…read morevegetarians. Stop by before the end of January 2026!

What a delightful experience at North Shore Boulangerie!…read more The service was excellent from start to finish, and the food was equally impressive! I started with the French onion soup, which was loaded with melty cheese and had such an incredible depth of flavor. I also enjoyed a beautiful slice of Quiche Lorraine, accompanied by an excellent side salad, sliced baguette, and the cutest little swirls of butter! Of course, I couldn't leave a French bakery without trying a pastry, so I went with the cherry almond Danish. And I'm not exaggerating when I say it might be one of the best things I've ever eaten! Absolutely phenomenal. I finished with a lovely cup of coffee, which was the perfect ending to an already wonderful meal. The chef also let me in on a little secret: one of their sleeper hits is the rye bread. Naturally, I couldn't resist taking home a sliced loaf, and I can't wait to try it tomorrow! Excellent service, exceptional food, and so many thoughtful little touches. Highly recommend!

Date of visit: April 26, 2026…read more Another place that has seemingly been around forever, but I didn't get a chance to visit until my days in Milwaukee were numbered! We came on a Sunday before they officially started serving breakfast and just had pastries available, but we were getting together with some friends for our monthly coffee date and didn't need a whole meal necessarily. The selection was a bit more limited than I would have expected from a boulangerie, but the cinnamon roll was very good (probably would have been better if it had been warmed up but that was not offered). And the cookies that we brought home (chocolate chip and gingersnap) were also very good. I also tried a bite of my husband's quiche and it was very good--definitely made in-house! The almond croissant had a generous amount of almond paste in it, and was quite sizable, too.
