Newark Airport has many options for travelers now that terminal A is open so new and shiny what a treat. We grabbed a couple of sandwiches from Jersey Mikes to snack on for the trip home, we weren't the only ones but persistent and early arrival paid off after about 30 minutes we had our meals and were set for the flight. I had the Roast beef and I'm telling you they loaded my regular sub up. They're were plenty of space to sit and watch h folks hustling through. Don't ask me why the reviews for Jersey Mikes in Terminal A of Newark Airport are so low. Jersey Mike's are good everywhere at every location I have been to. They were completely lovely at Newark Airport. I was very very happy to have my Philadelphia Cheesesteak from Jersey Mike's. It was a fine sandwich. It was actual food - which is not always what you get when you eat at the airport. My trip home had been rancid up to that point - and turned good from Jersey Mike's on afterward. It could be that Jersey Yelpers are fussy. I would not rule that out. I am often blown away by the sheer hostility of Yelp Reviews I read coming out of New York City. However, there may be a sense in which both me and the Newark Airport Jersey Mike Haters have some basis for agreement. * * * The most common complaint here is that people don't like the freshness of the ingredients. I had a hot sub - a cheesesteak. If vegetables such as lettuce, tomatoes or peppers are not as fresh as they could be - that would be a non-issue on a cheesesteak or a meatball sub that doesn't get lettuce, tomatoes or peppers. So if you want to be super-cautious - order from the hot food side of the menu. * * * The other issue is serving time or hostility from servers. I have encountered such issues at Newark Airport although not from this particular Jersey Mikes. The one time i was not served because i was Jewish (this was a pretty clear case) was at a food service establishment at Newark Airport. That "can" be a local management issue ... if say a shift supervisor or a set of people working on the same shift all see eye to eye on certain issues. So some of the stories in other reviews about people of a certain ethnicity being treated badly "might" be true. BUT Those issues change when the shift supervisor changes or when a shift team changes. Turnover at a fast food place at an airport is sky high. The same people are not likely to be around two years later or one year later or even six months later. If I was a customer experience supervisor at Jersey Mike's (or more probably, a customer experience supervisor at the hospitality industry subcontractor that runs the various brand name restaurants at Newark Airport) I would look into such Yelp reviews to see if anything is going on. However, as a customer, I would not be worried about such experiences replicating. read more

Food 10/10 Service 1/10 They are consistently slow even when not that busy. Various staff members just standing around. Sometimes when it is busy, forget about it if you have a flight to catch. Lots of audible complaining from staff as things get busy. One time I witnessed the whole line just kind of give up and walk away leaving dozens of befuddled customers waiting. read more

I love a good jersey mikes sub, so was happy to see one in the new terminal A. Service was rather slow and overall, not great, but the sandwich itself was not bad and they definitely loaded up the meats, but the ratios of everything were a bit off. I will say, my usual jersey mikes location does a much better job with the overall ratio of meat to veggies to mayo, which honestly makes a huge difference. For awareness, I always get the club sub. Came here on 1/2/26 around 5:00 PM. The line was about 10 people long. One of the employees working the counter was shockingly rude and disrespectful to multiple customers while taking orders. What stood out most was how she treated a mother who was simply trying to order sandwiches for her children. There was clearly a language barrier, but the employee made little to no effort to understand her and instead raised her voice and spoke to her in a condescending manner. I don't speak Spanish, and even I could understand what the customer was trying to order. It felt intentional and discriminatory. The interaction was so uncomfortable that the mother eventually left without ordering. I've never witnessed behavior like this in a food service setting, especially in a busy airport where patience and basic decency are essential. This employee appeared openly hostile and uninterested in helping customers. I rarely leave reviews, but what I witnessed was unacceptable. No customer should be treated this way. This is a very busy restaurant inside Terminal A of the airport. As soon as you enter the line someone at the counter, which is about 6 feet away, shouts out to you to take your order. Jersey Mike's Subs has a very limited menu. If you're a vegetarian, the only option is a veggie sandwich that has cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, pickles, jalapeño peppers, and banana peppers, plus vinegar and mayo. They have 3 different subs. A mini is a 1/4 sandwich. A regular is a 1/2 sandwich. And a giant is a full size sandwich. Because this restaurant is so busy and runs like a factory, they're too busy to even change gloves between different orders. My sandwich was so below average in taste, so I wouldn't recommend this chain restaurant to anyone, especially to anyone who is a vegetarian or vegan. read more

I tried going to Jersey Mike's two times in the past couple of times. Both times same experience. I waited in line for a long time which unfortunately didn't move at all and both times I had to give up and go somewhere else because I would have missed my flight. They appear to have a number of people working behind the counter but sandwiches are not made or are made extremely slow. Visited jersey MIKE'S 8/24/25 around 6:40pm . The service wasn't super bad but it's very disorganized and barely any of them had customer service. Cursing at each other calling each other female dogs and playing around . Then I started to top my sandwich and the lady yelled at me because I had a attitude it took someone 5 minutes to start my sandwich , at the register I asked who was the manager on shift and this guy stated it was him . I asked is this behavior ok for him , I never been to a restaurant where such words and behavior is acceptable. He stated " I'm new , I don't really work here" like ummm??? So I found myself standing in line at the terminal A Jersey Mike. Looking forward to their Philly sub. Upon reaching the front to order, I was informed only cold subs. Disappointed I ordered a Roast beef club supreme.... No roast beef. Choose something else. I noticed the bacon had been cooked and asked how they accomplished this feat. On the grill. I come here at least twice a week flying out of Newark and these customers are entitled and what people call" Karen's " . This line is non stop and long everytime I come and people complain about being in the line to long and do not realize it's only one slicer and a bunch of customers in front with families . If I could give this place a 0 star I would. The way this place is ran is ridiculous. Considering it's an airport location it should be way more efficient. They take all the orders have one guy making all the meats while everyone stands around till he's done including the people in line instead of adding toppings and getting the ball rolling. Once they see the line getting long they restart this process. As someone who travels frequently this is very disappointing. While I was in line 4 people walked away. I was the first in line and even after 35 minutes of waiting still walked away because they had me waiting for all the meat on sandwiches to be prepped instead of assisting me and continuing like they should. I don't write a lot of negative reviews as most of my experiences are either good enough to review with 4-5 stars or forgettable at 3 stars and I don't review. This was a bad one. I'm a vegetarian so I ordered the veggie. They were busy so I decided not to care too much about cross contamination and just sort of let things go (like not changing gloves between sandwiches). But when they had finished my sandwich and the turkey next to it with pieces of meat hanging out of the sandwich, they shoved them together so that the turkey was basically not just rubbing all over my veggies, I'm pretty sure it was pushed partially into my sandwich. So I politely asked the old lady in front of me to push the sandwiches apart. She looked at me blankly. So I more firmly said to push the sandwiches apart. Blank stare. I started speaking louder 2-3 more times and nobody on the other side did anything. It was a simple request. Just push my sandwich away from someone else's sandwich. For two minutes, I had to wait there before the old lady finally picked up my sandwich and bagged it. Update: I'm changing the review to 3 cause the sandwich was good. read more

In general, this is too small of a stall type place for the lines it attracts. Their mini subs are really meant for monks on a calculated diet or small kids. I am at the Newark international airport with limited time to get to my flight. I asked for a foot-long sub the first girl that was taking the order was super friendly and wonderful. The next person who puts the toppings on, asked me what I wanted on there for different times because she was focused on everything else besides What she she asked me then at the end I asked for the gentleman to please cut my foot long and he said that he doesn't have a knife. I said there's a knife right behind you and he said he wouldn't do it. I highly recommend not going to this establishment. read more
