I've always really liked Jersey Mike's and at this particular location the guys working here are super friendly and cheerful whenever I've come in. I've ordered both in person and through the app, and I've never really had any trouble either way. I did have one time when I ordered on the app and requested rosemary parmesan bread but got white bread instead. It wasn't a big deal though and I still ate my sandwich but it was just one thing to note. I usually order the Original Italian ($9.25), but I've also tried their Chipotle Chicken Cheese Steak ($9.25). Personally, I like to stick with the original Italian because the one time that I got the cheese steak, it tasted a little bit too salty for me. It was still good though, but I would prefer the original Italian over the cheese steak. I don't know if it's just that sandwich or if it's more with the hot subs in general that's saltier than the other ones. The subs were always prepared pretty quickly and since I work nearby it's easy to just quickly stop in and pick up my order. Out of the many time's I've come in here I've only had it go wrong once, just with the type of bread, it's not like I got a completely different sandwich from what I ordered. Went into Jersey Mike's today in La Jolla on Herschel because the last time I went there, the bread was so exceptionally good super soft and tasty so much so that I was craving it again however, when I got home today with my sandwich, my sandwich was hard and crunchy like the bread was old I called and talk to the manager, but she was not receptive to my concerns. During our conversation she unknowingly put me on hold my call went right to music and then when I called back she told me that I hung up on her which obviously wasn't the case so from that point on it our conversation just wasn't receptive and was disappointing. She was being defensive about the hard bread and wasn't receptive to my concerns so I felt it was necessary to write a review because the bread was hard top and bottom like it was toasted and crunchy and she said "oh that's because it just came out of the oven" which isn't the case because it was cold, It was just old and I think it was yesterday's bread I don't know, but I felt it necessary to give This location and the manager a review. Horrible customer service at this location only two employees here and they couldn't manage to take two orders. The people in front of me walked out due to lack of customer service. After waiting about seven minutes I was able to place my order, but was told it was going to take some extra time because the guy in front of me just ordered two giant sandwiches and apparently they can't put more meat on the grill. They seemed very overwhelmed by the two giant sandwich order placed by the gentleman ahead of me. This location is dead. No customers and I can see why if two large sandwich orders overwhelmed the two staff members. There's clearly a problem and additional training is needed here. After getting coupons in the mail and newspaper for months, I finally tried Jersey Mike's today. For being a chain, I was pleasantly surprised by the awesome service and tasty food. Service: When I first walked in, I was greeted right away. Mel was super friendly and very helpful in recommending various subs to me. She was also super fast! I have never seen anyone make a sub so quickly. I mentioned that to her and she said that she just loves what she. (I think she's perfected her craft!) You don't find too many people with such a positive attitude about their job (especially in the service industry), so I really appreciated her positive energy and her friendliness. Food: I got the #9 Club Supreme (regular size) and it was filled with lots of roast beef and turkey. The bacon was also very crispy. I'm so used to bacon in subs that have been sitting out for so long, it's almost like leather. The bacon here was perfectly crisp. I got my sub Mike's way and it looked like a lot of oil and vinegar when she put it on, but when eating it, it was the perfect amount. The bread wasn't soggy at all and I could tell it was baked fresh. I really enjoyed my sub. My husband had the chicken parm and enjoyed it as well. Parking: Free 20 min parking in the Sunset garage right next to it ~ I didn't realize this until after I found a spot on the street. Discounts: Pricing is higher than your average sandwich shop, but they have coupons all the time. I had a coupon from ages ago and it didn't have an expiration and it still worked. Unlike most of Subway I've visited, there are two HDTVs and I think that's a pretty impressive feat for a submarine sandwich chain. All cheese and deli-meat are freshly sliced. When you order any cold subs, the staff will ask you whether you would like to make it "Mike's Way" (onions, lettuce, tomatoes, red wine vinegar, olive oil blend, and spices). *** #6 Famous Roast Beer and Provolone (Famous Roast Beef and Provolone Cooked on premises using Certified Angus USDA choice top rounds - mini $5.95): For a sandwich chain, I was pretty impressed. I had not visited this Jersey Mike's since start of pandemic. I went in little before closing. Manager and staff were very welcoming and helpful. They took time to explain a few sandwiches I had never tried before. I had number 99 which was incredible! Too little meat. Seems very disorganized. This store hasn't figured out how to balance online orders and in store orders. If you don't order ahead you will stand there and wait while they fix a bunch of other orders even when you're the only one in the store. They've gotten even skimpier on meat despite being more expensive then other locations. Being from Philly we love hoagies and I wrote their address down on the same piece of paper as her address when I was out there a few weeks ago and picked up sandwiches for us. I love Jersey Mike's and have been to several locations throughout San Diego. I randomly found this spot by using my Yelp app while searching for a quick bite to go in downtown La Jolla. I ordered my usual: turkey and provolone but sub swiss for the provolone. The sandwich maker said he agreed with my choice to swap the cheeses. Good to have his support! :) I always thought it was funny that they list the cheese on the menu instead of just letting you choose your own cheese anyway. This place is so delicious! The service is the fastest you'll find in all of san diego, even if the line is going out the door. I've been here a lot and they have never ever messed up my order.
