So as I have stated before the Ghost Town of Jerome feels a tad bit like a tourist trap ( not that that is a bad thing). But one of the better places was Jerome Ghost Pepper...sure the prices are pretty expensive (maybe it is all that printing of dollars that the current administration...IDK). But the hot sauces are very good and have grown on me immensely. For sure they are hot...but not just for the sake of being hot...there is plenty of flavor too. The staff was super friendly and they even offered us some ghost pepper salsa and chips to sample --- which we really weren't expecting with the pandemic and all. They set out a tray that they kept behind the counter and monitored it closely so there was no contamination whatsoever. I appreciated that they took the pandemic seriously. I was hesitant at first since ghost peppers are so intimidating but I grabbed a little chip, spooned some salsa on, pulled down the mask, popped that chip into my mouth, pulled my mask back up, and chomped away. It was good! The heat was doable and the flavor was tasty. While it wasn't nearly as spicy as I was expecting, it was good. I walked away with a bag of Ass Kickin' Habanero Honey Peanuts and a jar of Jerome Reaper Salsa that I paired with a huge sheet tray of Chrissy Teigen mushroom & crispy shallot nachos later on. Nice Selection. They won't let you try to Ghost Pepper unless you buy it so I bought it and me and the guy working there gave it a shot. The Gaboom Ballistic is on for the faint of heart. At 4,000,000 Scoville Units it is pretty hot. We had a good size spoon full and it slowly spreads out over a few minutes and then down to your stomach. Not the hottest thing I have ever eaten but it is plenty hot. I think I will use this to make some kicked up Ketchup and BBQ sauce. If you can survive 10 minutes it starts cooling down. If they were smart they would give you a taste of this for free and then sell you some ice cream to cool your mouth down. read more

Let's get right to the point - My wife and I walked into this small shop (hoping for a fun & positive experience). There was a younger patron inside purchasing a few products. He asked the NASTY older punk working behind the counter if the hot sauce was truly hot and this rude disgusting man barked at the patron, "we wouldn't be selling it if it wasn't hot". The young patron didn't know how to respond and then walked out quickly. The tone and inflection of the owner wasn't polite or professional. Within seconds he turned to me and said in an exceptionally rude manner, "pull up your face mask ". My wife and I decided not to give this creature any business and started to walk out. As I was walking out he said "too much for you, you Pussy". I kid you not. I stopped at the door and turned around to say "Don't you ever talk to me in that manner". He then cowered behind the register and said "if you don't leave right now I'm calling the police". Mind you I'm standing outside the business door. My wife was shocked at his response which just came out of the blue. This Cretan is a pure bully. He's gotten away with being rude to people and is not expecting an appropriate response to his unprofessional and rude behavior. This place was very awesome! They have ton's of selections of different peppers, and spices. I was pretty amazed by the display inside this store. The woman working there had a ton of knowledge when it can to the different peppers and how they are prepared for all the sauces. I love the fact you can taste test all the sauces for free. I tried the Carolina Reaper pepper sauce, and the ghost pepper sauce. They were both hella hot! Love it! The prices for the sauces is very reasonible for sure. I love salsa, but am a bit of a wuss when it comes to heat, but knew I needed to check out this store before I venture back down into the Valley. As you enter the store your eyes are on sensory overload due the bright Mexican inspired colors on the wall, but it gets you super excited for what you are about to encounter. My friend and I were in awe of the extensive collection of hot sauce, salsa and barbecue sauces that aligned the shelves in the two little rooms that makeup this store. You will also notice some local artwork (including this really cool aluminum mirror), pottery, and glassware that are available for purchase. We were warmly welcomed by Marc, the owner, and quickly introduced to his store that carries multiple brands of hot sauce and salsa that are available in mild, medium and hot. I let him know of my inability to tolerate severe heat and Marc gladly told me which products to stay away from, which would be the ghost peppers that are available in quite a few jars. We were then lead to the front of the store where he offers complimentary tastings and details about each salsa we were sampling. As my friend and I were munching away and savoring every delicious bite of salsa we let Marc know how happy we were that we decided to change our road trip plan and head to Jerome. Marc then casually enlightened us as to way Jerome is way better then that six letter S word north of Jerome and we couldn't help but agree. We ended up purchasing three different salsas. A Mango Chipotle that is sweet and tasty, the Fire Roasted Salsa that has a bit of a kick, but nothing I can't handle, and the Black Bean that reminds you of mixing the salsa and re-fried beans when you are at a Mexican restaurant. Had an encounter with a rude gentleman who told my son to put his mask on after he had pulled it down for a 5 second picture by the hot sauce display. My husband apologetically said, "I'm sorry. We were just trying to take a picture." To which he responded, "I don't care." We immediately decided that our money wouldn't be spent in a store with such rude customer service. When I told the man how rude I thought his comment was, he simply said, "you saw the sign when you came into town. If you can't follow the rules, then leave." This store is awesome. I first tried their reaper salsa in Sedona years ago and bought a bunch. We were coming back from our trip in flagstaff and I decided "Hey let's go get salsa in Jerome!" I've never been but I've seen it on ghost shows and I love all things spooky! So I was expecting Jerome to be a low and flat town.... boy was I wrong! You climb in elevation to 5,500 feet and see this town that's just hanging on the side of a mountain pretty much! It's built at a 30 degree incline and on the main drag you'll see the Jerome hot sauce store. You walk in and the guy working is very helpful and also gives you samples! We tried a sample of a different salsa that didn't have a ton of heat and it was delicious! We got an entire case of salsa! Lol we needed a box. Now I'm well stocked on one of my favorite salsas. This is a very new store in Jerome, AZ and oh my goodness, I cannnot tell you how excited I am to find this place. I am a super chili / pepper head and love to find the hottest, most spicy herbs and peppers in the world to enjoy. My husband and I were heading up the stairway to Clark street from Caduceus Cellars when I noticed the big red sign that said, "Ghost Peppers". I have been searching everywhere for somewhere that might have this pepper. I ran acorss the street, into the store and proceeded to drill the poor employee on their acquisition and ability to maintain an inventory on this ghost aka Jolokia peppers. She brought out several taste tests for my husband and I and waited very patiently as we perused the store. It is small and quaint, yet very organnized and we ended up buying several items. I only give this a foud because: 1. It is far away. I live in Phoenix and its in Jerome. 2. I would love to see an online ordering capability for replenishing my stock and that is not quite yet set up. I highly recommend this joint for the fellow pepperheads out there passing through Jerome. I am already half way through my stashh I bought on 12/23/11 and it is only 12/27/11.. lol. I even bought some hot sauces for my neighbor and father in law. They are going to love them. They have everything from non-spicy, to blow your head off hot. Received our shipment of sauces/salsas. Should have purchased the 10+++ heat sauce. I guess I was expecting tears in the eyes hot, but it wasn't the case. Already finished the first bottle of ghost pepper salsa and just trying the medium (black bean) Black bean is actually very mild and we ended up adding the hot sauce to it for more heat. My family and I found this great store on our last trip to Jerome on 12/27/11. My husband is a salsa junkie and the hotter the better so he just had to try one of the Ghost Pepper salsa's. We were all hooked!
