After a commentI received from a friend of the opposite sex that my Timex Ironman plastic sports watch was probably not winning me points in the professional department (he probably also meant in the sexy department), I finally caved and took my nice dressier watches to get new batteries put in. Love this place. The guy that runs the shop is super ethical and knowledgeable in what he does. My watch was missing a screw....he didn't have it but suggested contacting the manufacturer and obtaining the part. He told me the exact name to ask for. He then offered to put it in for me free of cost when it came in. Convenient location in the tunnels. Great quick service if you're stopping during your lunch break. Since then, I've been back to replace some batteries. He got my watch ticking again for $10. Would trust him in a heartbeat!!!! read more

Jerome Berger Jewelry is my go-to place to get my watches repaired. It's convenient form me since I work downtown, and I can always swing by around lunchtime since it's located in the tunnels. I've taken many a watch here to get batteries replaced and links removed. Jerome is friendly and professional and he does a great job. Even if he's not replacing the battery he always makes sure the watch is set to the correct time. His prices are reasonable to boot. I've had 2 broken necklaces sitting in the bottom of my jewelry box for years. This year, I finally decided to do something about them and have them repaired. I found Jerome Berger on Yelp and with the positive reviews, and with the convenience of being downtown, I decided to try him. One necklace was a sentimental pearl necklace I received when I was young. The loop for the clasp had broken off so it couldn't be worn. The other was a chain used for pendants that was broken in the links. When I brought the pieces in, I found Jerome to be more than fair in his pricing. However, I was more impressed by his honesty! The chain necklace was in sterling. He said if he fixed it, the section that was repaired wouldn't be the same. It would always have a little tightness or little kink to it. He said (and showed me) that I could get a brand new chain for cheaper than the cost to repair. I decided to wait on getting a new chain and not make the repair (since it has been literally sitting in my jewelry box unnoticed for years). I did decide to have the sentimental pearl necklace repaired. The repair was made quickly, especially given the holidays. If I didn't know that the loop had broken off, I wouldn't be able to tell that this necklace was repaired. The repair is very well down and cohesive with the rest of the necklace. Mr. Berger, as the other reviewers have mentioned, can replace watch batteries and clean jewelery, however, I'd like to highlight his skillset as an honest business owner and master jeweler. The day before my 18 year wedding anniversary I lost my wedding ring. Devestated, I sought out Gordon's (the merchant for my original ring), but was discouraged by the price to make a replica and was uncertain of the ability. I work in downtown Houston, and stopped in to Mr. Berger's shop. He assured me of his ability to do the job, and his quote was very fair. I put down my deposit, and the rest is an awesome experience, coupled with constant communication informing me of the progress and process steps. So so happy I came here! I had some diamond and white gold earrings made, but the person who did them made them too long. Not wanting to go through the hassle of sending them back, waiting for return, etc, I decided to see if Jerome would be able to move the post so the earrings would fit my ear properly (suspender earring made for the second hole). Someone I work with had recommended him to me. Not only was he able to fix it, he did it super fast! I was expecting to get them back in a few days, but he was able to work on them this morning for me and I picked them up on lunch! The earrings now fit perfectly and he only charged 35 as well. You can't even see where he removed the original post, and they are just as gorgeous as before. I will definitely be coming back here! I believe he does custom work as well and spied some gorgeous earrings/rings in his display case, along with a beautiful necklace identical to the Diamonds by the Yard that Tiffany does! read more

I found this jewelry store many years ago and have been going there to replace my watches' batteries. Their charge is very reasonable and the place is convenient for those work downtown. Today I went back because my husband lost his watch rubber strap holder. The guy said if he could find it in his inventory, I could have it for free. Sure enough...he found one that matched the strap. I really appreciate this and I won't mind to pay for the holder since it is not easy to get strap holder and those online is not cheap either with the shipping fee etc. I ended up having him replaced the battery since it was dead and walked out very happy from that store. I had seen this place for years and finally had a reason to try it out. I had gotten a ring from my husband for my birthday and needed it sized. I went to another "JEWELRY" place in the downtown tunnels and they wanted to charge me $140 + the cost to size and "reset all of the prongs" on the diamonds...RED ALERT. That made no sense to me so I decided to decline their services and set off to Jerome Berger Jewelry. Talk about prompt and honest service. I dropped my ring off after lunch and the next morning I got a call telling me my ring was ready. I thought wow that was quick and I didn't even ask how much it would put me in the hole but for some reason I just knew it wasn't going to be $140+. Well yep it wasn't even close to $140 and it fit perfect. Can't even tell it was ever sized. I have plans to bring a family heirloom in to have it "transformed" into something wearable.
