They really went the extra mile. I was looking at 4-6 weeks to get a door for a remodel and they offered a suggestion. They asked if I could use a door slightly narrower and in an almond color. I didn't care about either item. They came the next week and installed the door. It was great. They just put 2x4's on each side and the door was installed perfectly. This was over a month ago and with the contractors going in and out, I haven't had a single problem. I gave a stack of their cards to my contractor and electrician. I hope they get more business. I called on March 21 and requested a new garage door. On March 25 Josh Keen arrived and managed to tell me his whole life story while preparing the estimate. He did not see or ask me if I wanted a key pad. I was told that Keen had my garage door in stock at one of their neighboring businesses and that once the door was sent to Santa Rosa they would be in touch. On April 22, Derek arrived and installed the garage door but it was not the one that I had ordered and set aside for me. I ordered a garage door with windows and Keen installed one without windows. Another round of appointments were made and a worker came and dropped off the window panel for the upper part of the garage door. A few hours later another worker came and installed the panel and took the solid panel with him. He said another worker would be coming that same day with the key pad. I questioned if he had the right one and was assured he did. Of course he had 2 key pads on the truck but neither were compatible with my door!! You would think that at this point Keen Garage doors would expedite the case to simply install a key pad. But no!! They place me in the appointment queue and offer a complimentary one year membership to have my door serviced. What a joke. Who has time to set up appointments and deal with incompetent office people and workers. Finally on May 6 the key pad was installed. Lots of delays and "finger pointing." The last story I heard was the Clopay factory in Ohio shipped my original door to the wrong place, and Door Pros had to get a rush replacement. So finally the two-man crew shows up and installed my door. This is my very first garage door I bought, so I watched the process. Very efficient, and their experience shows in how smooth the install process was. My old "retro" door weighed about 400-lbs, but they were able to remove it and haul it away. BTW, Nate was a great salesman. He didn't upsell the most expensive door in the catalog. He listened to what I ideally wanted. I wanted something new and modern. Something that would add value to my home. I got a Clopay Modern Steel Door with windows in chocolate brown, stucco texture. Included: LiftMaster opener, mailslot and safety latch. Removing the old springs wasn't easy, as the old hardware was in poor condition, but he got it done. He tested the door, reprogrammed the upper and lower limits on the motor, and tested again. The entire service appointment took about 45 minutes. Fast and efficient! I paid $400 for 2 springs, $199 for labor, and about $50 tax. When the tech arrived, I was informed that I would need to spend $200 per spring to be tightened (4 springs). We negotiated down to $350 (the "cost" of tightening 2 springs + lube + coupon). The tech was fine, the garage door is definitely better but I did not appreciate the upsell - especially as I now have a receipt stating $200 for a "counter balance door - tighten spings, etc" x 2. I only have 1 garage and 1 garage door. Unfortuntely, I feel a bit suckered. That's on me. I should have said no.
