My previous allergist thinks I may also have an incredibly rare condition called Progesterone Hypersensitivity but said we had already tried everything, so my symptoms become unbearable during certain times in my cycle. She came up with a medication adjustment we could try and said she would help me explore options. Here's the part I was most impressed by- a couple weeks later I got a call from her- she had spoken with the other doctor who has treated this condition and came up with a comprehensive plan if I wanted to get a formal diagnosis. She also discussed a medication option I haven't tried yet if I didn't want to go that route. This meant so much to me- it's felt really scary dealing with this potentially rare issue with no options, and the fact that she took so much time to come up with a plan and spent valuable time discussing it on the phone just shows she really cares about her patients and is able to be flexible with trying new things based on individual needs- which in my opinion is the single most important factor that makes an excellent provider. The office staff is also very nice and quick to respond. I'm definitely switching over care :)

Dr. Castro really cares about his patients and wants them to live the lives they want as symptom free as possible. For example - I am allergic to dogs, but I love them and have 3 in my home. I'm sure Dr. Castro would prefer that I not have pets but he understands how important they are to me. In the past I have had doctors who refused to treat me if I had animals in my house. Dr. Castro is far more understanding than that. His goal is to help his patients be able to pursue the interests and activities that make them happy.
