A beautiful department store that is reminiscent of eras past. I don't usually love shopping, but this was a unique opportunity to see a department store the way my mom has always lovingly described them from her youth. I visited the 2nd floor jenners Edinburgh restaurant with my family, we had afternoon tea with which we were served cream which was not fresh and smelled repugnant, unfortunately my partner has no sense of smell and had eaten his before we were aware. we alerted the staff who agreed it had turned and told us had been left out from the morning before and overnight by another member of staff which is completely unacceptable, but what is more unacceptable is my partner being violently sick when we arrived home. i emailed them to let them know and was told they would investigate i then received this email basically telling me i was wrong Without Prejudice I write further to your recent visit to our restaurant in Jenners of Edinburgh, where you were concerned about cream scones served to you and your partner. At Massarellas we pride ourselves on very high standards of food safety and hygiene and take great care to ensure that we operate with due diligence. I can assure you that a complaint of this nature is taken extremely seriously and that it has been thoroughly investigated. The afternoon teas are made to order and the cream supplied for the scones was well within the use by date and, as is standard practice within the restaurant, had been kept refrigerated until it was required for service. Our records show that all refrigerators were operating at the correct temperature and that a number of afternoon teas were sold using this batch of cream and there were no other complaints or reports of illness from any of the customers who ate them. I can only apologise that you have had cause to be dissatisfied and I do hope that this will not deter you from visiting our restaurant again in the future. I am so angry with the service i received and the way in which my complaint was dismissed, i have been to Jenners on many occasions as i live in Edinburgh and it was an amazing place to enjoy lunch or coffee, but im afraid i have paid my last visit to Jenners, sadly i think its the end of an era for me but also i feel its the end of an era for the wonderful Jenners that we once loved but is no more! read more

Great place if you are out shopping and want to get everything in one store or just for a browse to kill off a bit of time. Store has everything from knife and forks to wedding dresses , situated on Princess St across from Waverley train station , has a cafe for a brew and sandwich as well. Not the cheapest place but then again you wouldn't expect it to be given location and building it's in. read more

This place is like a maze - stuffed full of everything you could ever want to buy ever. While the maze thing means you will be lost for 17 hours before you find the department you want, and the 'stuffed full of everything' aspect means once you find your department you wont find the item you are looking for - in general this is an amazing shopping experience. Not only does Jenners house some of the most desirable brands and designers ever, just being here gives you a sense of grandure which is something I have never felt in any department store ever. It borders of odd. Jenners is a really nice place, and the only department store of its calibre on Princes Street. read more

What a superb department store this is - certainly the best in Edinburgh! I always try to visit when I'm in the area. I love the dark polished wood too - the whole building is beautiful. I always pop into Jenners when I am in Edinburgh; not so much for the merchandise, but for the store itself. It is a little gem in terms of traditional Scottish decor. Love the dark wood and classic feel of the rooms. Mind you their designer room is not bad for fashion. Worth a look. read more

Lovely old fashioned department store on Princes Street. We had breakfast here - it was gorgeous (try the almond croissant) and the café overlooked the Edinburgh skyline - a great place to rest your weary feet. read more

This department store is enchanting, it is really old-fashioned and beautifully laid out inside as well as out. The sales staff are all really friendly but not even a little snooty! There is a great food court and cafe inside and enough nooks and crannies within the store to keep you looking around for hours. read more

Jenners is 'the' classic Edinburgh institution as far as shopping is concerned. Situated in a fantastic Victorian building as the east end of Princes Street, Jenners have been around since the early 1800's and they've managed to retain that air of prestige and wealth! The sheer volume of products sold by Jenners is unbelievable, from clothing and footwear, to gifts and kitchenware, perfumes and jewellry, and an amazing toy department. Christmas is a really special time as Jenners, as they always have a floor to ceiling tree which is simply awesome. It has to be said that there have been some changes since Jenners were taken over by the House of Fraser group, but it looks like the overall impression that Jenners gives is still of quality and old-world timeless atmosphere. read more

After visiting upmarket stores in London like Selfridges and Harrods, Jenners doesn't really seem that special. Not that I'd be able to afford shopping there anyway but I do like the indulge in the 'if I had a million pounds' game and just look at pretty things. Jenners doesn't seem to do as unique, interesting stuff as stores like this. On the up side it does mean I'm able to buy certain items. One Christmas I bought my mum a beautiful Charles Rennie Mackintosh earing and necklace set at a rather decent price. I do love their jewellery section and dream over buying some swarkovski crystal ornaments. The store is pretty old and the interior is very attractive. You should also check out the great Christmas tree and window displays around the holiday season. The store is also rather big and I have memories of being lost in here when I was 10 looking for a toilet (!) Another thing I must note is the fantastic hamlets toy store downstairs. Jenners is Edinburgh's finest department store. It has a little bit of something for everyone; right through from its vast array of perfumes to its stylish and cutting-edge fashion. Having recently been bought by the House of Frasers chain, it is now under different ownership; nevertheless, it still retains an elegant charm. Worth going to for a coffee or bite of lunch just for it's delightful views up to Edinburgh castle and onto Princes St. Gardens. Also check out the christmas sales for some good prices on trendy clothing. read more

Jenners is a fantastic shop, which sells almost everything. It is one of the oldest shops, and the place is beautiful. At Christmas time they have a HUGE christmas tree right up the middle of the shop, which everybody comes to see, and they have Santa in the shop also. It is always beautifully done up. Its a great shop. The toy department is brilliant, and so much fun for if your taking the kids also. The decor is amazing. read more

Jenners can be found at the east end of Princes Street, it is a hard to miss ornately carved department store. Jenners has been in the same place since 1838 and as such is an Edinburgh institution. Inside you'll find high quality merchandise from beds to underwear. Jenners is known for having the best bra fitters in Edinburgh, I can certainly attest to that. One of my favourite places in Jenners is in the basement where you'll find an awesome toy department run by Hamleys. The top floor has Jenners cafe, traditionally loved by Edinburgh old ladies, it's a nice place to catch a break in the centre of town. read more

This department store called Jenners in Edinburgh is a very nice cosy looking department store. They sell products from kitchenware to clothing and the clothes are stylish and comfortable for the eye. There is a very nice coffee shop so after a hot sunny day, going there to get a bite to eat is very lovely. The store is situated on Princes Street on the high stree and they kept the exterior building design the same it use to look like. Its a great place to shop and visit if you need to get something for the family or friends. read more

Beautiful old building which hasn't lost its mystique even though it has now been taken over by House of Fraser. I love spending time wandering around the store not looking for any in particular but perhaps dreaming about being able to afford the extravagance you are surrounded by. Jenners is Edinburgh's famous department store. It has everything you need and the staff are really helpful. They sell Bobby Brown make up which is to die for! The food hall is great and there is a restaurant which is reasonable. You can always find what you need in Jenner's! The building is beautiful and at christmas the tree is HUGE! read more

Jenners is beautifully decorated and has a large selection of well-priced but high-quality products. While they have very high standards, there is absolutely nothing pretentious about the place, which is a difficult balance to strike. The service is outstanding: everybody is friendly and willing to help beyond their job description. If you are living in Edinburgh, check out their home department: they have jaw-dropping sales on everything from china to bedsheets, both from their store brand and renowned international brands. If you are just visiting, it's definitely worth it for the gorgeous interior and their Scottish souvenir section on the 2nd floor, as well as the cafe on the top floor (it has a marvelous view). Be warned, it is quite confusing and easy to get lost in - this is part of the charm, but don't be surprised if you suddenly end up in some kind of strange basement. What to say when I experienced both excellent and terrible service. Let me start with the worst. I eventually found a lift to take me to level 5 as I thought the Zest Cafe sounded appealing. Wish I'd not bothered. I was served a baked potato which looked and tasted as if it was on its third reincarnation. I didn't complain, but I did leave it. The person who came to clear the table queried why I had left it and I explained it was indelible. He stared at me then walked away. No apology. Against that I lost a bag I was carrying in the store. I stopped a young female member of staff who went out of her way to help me locate it. So if i was giving stars for Zest it would be a 1, but on the other hand the young woman deserved a 5. She was a credit to the company. read more

I bought a Ralph Lauren sweatshirt in Jenners a couple of months ago, for £100. Over the next few weeks I noticed patchy discolouration on it. I tried stain removers and laundering but it became clear that the problem was a fault in the dyeing process. I took it back to change it but Jenners refused to have anything to do with it on the grounds that I no longer had the receipt (although I paid with a card and coiuld prove it) and Ralph Lauren never accept returns. In other words, they have had the problem before and used the lack of a receipt to evade responsibility. Very poor customer relations. Er used to shop there regularly but won't again. read more

I love this shop everytime I go to edinburgh I have to go in here , you can spend hours looking around this place and it has everything that you could want or need but the best time to go is at Christmas time there decorations are to die for. The staff here realy do make you feel special read more

Jenners is a wonderful old building situated on Princes Street in Edinburgh. It spans many floors and can be a bit difficult to find your way around if you dont know it well. In recent years it has been taken over by House of Fraser and has changed quite a bit. It is a great department store with a good selection of clothes for all ages, food department, kitchen department, gifts and furniture. There is also a Clarins spa, hairdressers and restaurants and coffee bars. Its a really nice place to look around and I'm sure you will be tempted to buy something. read more

Although Jenners sells top brands and quality clothing, it is quite confusing to shop in there. It's impossible to find anything (It's like a maze in there) and the lifts are verrryy sloow. read more

The staff are all lovely and the merchandise is high quality. Jenners is lovely and has a lot of character. The outside of the building is stunning and once you're inside, the layout and stairways make it feel like an old department store with new products.
