Ameera Mediterranean Restaurant - Desserts galore!

This was my first time here and it will not be the last!…read more The cauliflower was amazing, the hummus was delicious, and the falafel (first time I've ever tried it) was incredible! I could've had my whole meal be just the appetizers and I would've been happy. The dinner came out and the rice was seasoned and tasted awesome! The chicken and lamb chops were *chef's kiss*. My favorite (aside from the falafel) was the Kafta. It's the first time I had it and my taste buds were blown away. Of course we had to end the meal with dessert (not much room left but we made it work) and the tuxedo mousse cake was made with so much love you could taste it in every bite. Not only was the food AMAZING, the staff were extremely friendly, they took the time to learn our names, very attentive, and made the whole experience that much better. The location is great and the entire vibe of the restaurant was relaxing. I will definitely be coming back very soon!

Took a random detour to Ameeras between Michigan and Dayton. Here's our take!!…read more Service: awesome. Nick treats you like family. He even called me his cousin. Lol Food: Hummus - delicious taste, a bit thinner than other hummus we've had. But, when that homemade hot sauce is added I forgot my own name it was THAT good. Kibbie: well seasoned meat, the breading(?) was superb. It was not super crunchy. The breading element also individual bite was stellar! You guessed it, we dipped that baby in the hot sauce and the yogurt sauce. The appetizers were so good, we let Nick pick the entrees. I am pretty sure he gave us the chicken and beef sish kabobs. Chickens came with the garlic aoili type of dip (sauce?) on the side. You know I'm going to say it was amazing and delicious. Beef: this man cooked those tenderloin pieces better than MOST steakhouses. It was a perfect medium rare. You guessed it - it was delicious. Desserts (for take out lol) chocolate cake and grandmas rice pudding. Rice pudding: thick and creamy, not too sweet. Personally, think a few golden raisins would be fantastic in there. This doesn't seem to be in the menu. Maybe it's a special thing. Chocolate cake: this was the thing that slightly disappointed us. The taste was ok but it was dry. Now, he told us his cousin in Cleveland makes them for him. So it isn't like he can get a fresh one outta the kitchen everyday. So, I'd take one a bit on the drier side and have a milk chaser than commercial garbage. Do yourself and your taste buds a favor, stop in to see Nick. Tell him cousin Kerri from Dayton sent you. See ya next time cousin Nick!!

I could hardly wait til we got back home to begin feasting and feast we did. The ladies are always so nice and pleasant when we go in. They always convince me to try something new too. They are delightful and they are masters in their craft. Best Syrian Lebanese food ever! Really authentic flavors!

Tiger Bakery is yet another local small business owner doing it up right!…read more First time in this establishment, and I let the person know it was my first time there and may need some assistance in trying to figure out what I was going to buy. She took the time to explain what foods were in each of the deli cases and then said I could sample items to make sure I liked an item before buying. I bought small sizes on the following: original garlic hommus; meat & veggie grape leaves; lamb biryani; chicken w/ sumac fatayer; and a piece of walnut baklava. I could not wait to get home to dig in! Everything was very good. Hommus was very creamy. Grape leaves were on point. I warmed up the chicken w/ sumac fatayer as well as the lamb biryani. I used the hommus as a dipping sauce for the fatayer and a topper for the biryani. The lamb was super tender and moist - just wished there was more lamb in the biryani because it was that good. The walnut baklava was excellent. Not greasy or overpowered with a taste of honey - very good. Service = very good. Knowledgeable and took time with me to make sure I was happy with my selections before I left. The ambiance = a very small market with a handful of small tables if you wanted to dine there after making your purchase. Tastefully decorated as far as a dine in market goes. Prices = seemed quite fair. Everything is pay by weight when making a purchase from any of the deli cases. Looking for a grab and go market serving very good Mediterranean food, please stop in at Tiger Bakery.

This has become my favorite middle eastern deli/store in Toledo. The menu goes beyond the basic…read moreshawarma/hummus/falafel things to include offerings like braised lamb shanks, yogurt kibbe, a huge selection of meat and cheese pies, besides a number of "Americanized" choices. The chicken shawarma is excellent, nicely seared but still juicy. Salads have been very good, with strongly (but not too strongly) lemony dressings, Falafels are crisp on the outside, a little soggier than I'd like on the inside--not that that stopped me from scarfing them down! Hummus is about as good as you'll find. Good as the food is, the service can be a bit slow. The market side is small, doesn't have a huge selection, but still a solid representation of mediterranean cooking basics (and seriously...just how many brands of tahini do you need???). And it's clean! A very economical olive bar and well-stocked meat case are musts for a visit here. In the latter, you'll find a little bit of beef, a little bit of chicken, a little bit of goat, but a whole lotta lamb, everything from tongues to trotters, at far below supermarket prices. While I like to sample a variety of places, Muna is taking away my incentive to explore other middle eastern restaurants in Toledo. It's a pleasant rut to be stuck in.
