Scalp Catastrophe: A Comedy of Hair-raising Errors The Scene…read moreof the Crime: Little Bird Salon Starring: Dana -the miserable manager, an aging boomer who ain't got time for your 6 year olds feelings! Let me paint you a picture of incompetence so magnificent, it deserves its own medical textbook chapter. January 2025 (happy new year!), this so-called "professional" hair establishment decided to transform a routine children's haircut into a dramatic medical investigation worthy of a WebMD fever dream. --The Misdiagnosis Heard 'Round the Playground-- Picture an innocent 6 year-old, sitting peacefully in the salon chair, when suddenly - PLOT TWIST - the stylist transforms into an amateur epidemiologist. With the dramatic flair of a daytime soap opera doctor, she declares: "OH MY GOODNESS, YOUR CHILD HAS LICE!" Spoiler alert: No. They. Did. Not. The Forensic Evidence (aka Total Nonsense): dried white hair gel (come to find out louse eggs are brown not white) so way off... What followed was a masterclass in medical hysteria: * Dramatic gasping * Frantic scalp examination * Completely incorrect diagnosis The "evidence" for this lice declaration? A few small specks of dried hair product and some remnant my little pony glitter residue. what was CLEARLY (even to me who had not yet completed my masterclass in parasitology) NOT LICE, now had the psycho salon in hysteria. Congratulations, Lice Buster- you've successfully turned a haircut into a horror movie. The Aftermath: Parental Panic and Professional Embarrassment (for them) The parents were sent home with: * Unnecessary panic * a delousing mission * A traumatized 6year old with a false positive Coody diagnosis The Kicker When a REAL medical professional later confirmed ZERO evidence of lice, the salon's response was basically a masterclass in "whoopsie-daisy" shoulder shrugging and how NOT to handle a client concern. The chief medical resident/mANaGeR (let's call it "the Dana") took on the bedside manner of a crocodile and an "I don't give $hit" attitude I haven't seen since my time in NYC. When I noted that was dissatisfied with her response I was basically told to pound sand and keep me and my lousy parasitic passengers away from their shop.... Salon Rating: 1/5 Combs"Guaranteed to make your scalp twitch - and not from bugs!" Recommendation: Save your money. And your sanity. ‍

I have taken all three of my children to Pigtails & Crewcuts multiple times and have generally had…read morepositive experiences. Although the haircuts are expensive, I always felt the quality and child-friendly service made them worth it. Unfortunately, my experience today destroyed the trust I had in this business. I brought my four-year-old son in for a haircut with Anais. I specifically asked for a high fade with a #1 on the sides. My son loves getting haircuts, sits extremely still, and has never been difficult during an appointment. Despite that, she gave him a very low fade that was uneven and patchy all over. During the haircut, he became covered in loose hair and told her he was itchy. Instead of taking a moment to blow or brush the hair off him, she repeatedly told him she would clean him off when she was finished. I have never experienced that at a children's salon before. When she said she was done, I immediately noticed patches throughout his hair and pointed out that the fade was much lower than what I requested. I asked her to fix the patches and raise the fade. About five minutes later, she said she was finished again, but the patches were still clearly visible and the fade had not been raised. His hair is now noticeably uneven, patchy, and looks significantly worse than it did before the appointment. I would not feel comfortable sending him to school with his hair looking like this. After paying nearly $50 for a children's haircut, I now have to take him somewhere else and pay again to have it corrected--if it can even be fixed without cutting it extremely short. I am incredibly disappointed, especially because we had been loyal customers. I sincerely hope ownership reviews this situation, makes it right, and ensures this stylist receives additional training and supervision before more children leave with the same experience.

Today, I met with Harper and she provided such great service and conversation. She asked a lot of questions to make sure she understood what I wanted and continued to talk me through the whole cut. Harper and the staff made me feel welcome and I can confidently say I have found my home hair stylist. Thank you Harper and Factory Hair Salon for making me feel safe and welcome, as well as making me feel like myself again with an amazing curly cut.

My final bill was around $700--roughly double what I had been told over the phone. After I contacted the owner about the discrepancy, I was refunded $150, but I still paid far more than I expected. Unfortunately, the service itself did not meet my expectations. To make matters worse, during my appointment, one of my expensive earrings went missing. Despite bringing this to the salon's attention immediately, I was not reimbursed for the lost earring, and the owner has since stopped responding to my calls and messages about the situation. The combination of being charged much more than quoted, receiving disappointing service, losing a valuable personal item, and then having difficulty getting a response afterward has been extremely frustrating. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this salon.

My request was simple: CHUNKY balayage. CHUNKYYYY. I had pictures to show what I wanted. Mostly warm highlights with some cool sprinkled in. I also asked to add texture to my hair but keep the length (it was below my bra line). Nope... goodbye 6 inches I didn't ask to lose (now it's just below my shoulders). I had THICK voluminous hair, and now it's like I have the Rachel haircut. They foiled my hair to death and I ended up almost platinum blonde when the foils came out, and then to add insult to injury, you could clearly see the lines where the highlights began where it looks almost burnt at the edges?? We went back in for another TWO hours to make it warmer, but by that time my hair was fried, and now I have a bald spot I didn't have before. He offered to fix it in another few weeks after my hair has had time to settle, but I'm never letting anyone there touch my head again. I'm too nice of a person and still managed to crack a semi smile when it was finally done, but now I'm left with tears and silent screaming to hold back my utter horror at what they left me with. If you didn't get the memo: I don't recommend them. Even after everything, he still had the audacity to charge me $250 (discounted) and said I didn't need to leave a tip. Umm, thanks? God only knows how long this is going to take to fix... Should've gone to Fluff Bar. Thanh, you should've comp'd it and ask I not leave a bad review, which I totally would've said yes to not doing. Lesson learned? Was the juice really worth the squeeze? Looks like I'm not the only one who's had this happen to them? Ladies or gents: If you want balayage or any kind of coloring service, do NOT go here. This is NOT their specialty. Run. UPDATE: Went to a highly reviewed salon a few days after my visit with Vo where I had two pros look at my hair to assess the situation (and probability of me somehow getting what I originally wanted), and both agreed that what Vo did to my hair was "pretty bad" and unprofessional. All I heard, as they were slowly combing and lifting through my hair, were soft whispers and gasps of horror with the occasional, "Girl look at this... omg..." After hearing what they could do to fix the mess Vo left me with (weeks of painstaking piece meal work and god-knows-how-much-money) I ultimately decided to have them take me back to my original brown so I could start over from square one. THAT'S how bad it was. All that time and money just to go back to brown and have my hair be short and thin instead of long and thick. God I could scream. I appreciate you offering to fix the mess you left me with, Thanh, but no thanks. I would much rather you spend the time you would've taken on fixing my hair to spending it on some coloring courses instead. Just because you own a salon doesn't mean you've mastered the art of hair. The other guy whom you trained on the fly with me has a lot of learning to do also. I could tell he didn't know what he was doing and yet you still let him touch my hair while you juggled two other clients. Unacceptable service. On top of that, neither you or the other guy ever made small talk with me, which I've never experienced at a salon in all my life. Like, not a single word or question about my day or even my name. Even if you guys had done a great job, I still wouldn't have come back due to that alone. K I'm done. Lesson learned I hope. Best of luck to you.
