As somebody who has been self conscious (and rather careless in the past) towards their feet and toes, I was nervous (!!) to go to the The Foot and Ankle clinic for any treatment; this was the first place that showed promised and the ability to actually treat me for something a multitude of primary doctors had told me was never going to get better all these years.
I always saw my feet as gross or "stuck that way," and frankly, I was embarrassed to go in. What if I did all this just to have them tell me my feet were just gonna' be "nasty" forever. That was not the case at all.
Dr Harsch and his team made me feel right at home from the get go. Alex was quick to greet and check me in almost immediately, and she made everything quick and easy as far as paperwork goes. Nobody likes to write an essay in those chairs. Then, I met Teresa, who prepped me and made me feel comfortable and assured me there would be no pain and little-to-no discomfort whatsoever. She even explained a little about what was going on beneath my shoes and socks to reassure me it was normal, and that it happens to LOTS of people.
Jeff was quick and thorough, but at the same time, he did more for my feet in that window of time than all my doctors combines. He didn't just take a sample and send me off to wait for a phone call. He walked me through what was going on, the severity of it and what the next steps were. I was not scared, nor did I feel pressured to make a life-changing decisions. I was just happy to finally have some help and some definitive answers. I have even come back for two follow-ups, each showing more and more progress.
I don't know if I'd be walking comfortable or without shoes right now without making that first appointment. I avoided this for so long because I thought my feet were just stuck that way, however, they made me feel normal and respectable all the way through the appointment, and got me the help and information I needed. It was amazing to get the attention most places only lie about on tv commercials and actually learn something about my body in the process.
PODIATRY MATTERS. FEET MATTER.
