I'll start out by saying that not every chiropractor is the same. If you're new to chiropractic care, make sure to keep this in mind if you ever have had a bad experience with any other chiropractor.
With that said, Dr. Jeff Jenkins (Dr. J) is a miracle worker with my skeletal structure.
It starts with the fact that he gives you his cell number, he prefers the direct contact with patients. The cell phone is more direct/personal than a business phone, voicemail, email, messaging service, etc. He'll also see you with very little notice in emergent situations and is sometimes available on Saturdays if necessary.
I've been seeing Dr. J consecutively for 6+ months now, on a 1-2x/week basis and have experienced less headaches due to neck strain and FHS. I've also experienced faster relief for back, shoulder, ankle, foot and wrist pain. With regard to his style of chiropractic care he has a strong sports mentality/knowledge that he applies and understands that back pain can be caused by other ailments throughout your entire body and visa versa, other pains and ailments of your body might be affected by the health of your spine. Short-focused massages are sometimes used if my muscles are tight.
I'll begin with my most recent experience, my ankle/foot hurt once due to over exertion playing grass volleyball barefoot. If left untreated for a long period of time, I might start walking on my feet differently to compensate for the pain, and doing so would mess up the equilibrium of your body. He actually relieved pressure in the talus bones of my foot. With his treatment my foot/ankle was better within the next day. Please keep in mind that everyone's reaction to treatment is unique to themselves and recovery might not be as fast as I state.
I also had frequent experiences of headaches. This was most likely caused by my Forward Head Syndrome (FHS), which is very common for computer, customer service, etc. employees that are in standing positions with low level work space or sitting at a computer for extensive periods of time. Your ears should be directly lined up over your shoulders, if they're not, your neck is working TOO hard too support the weight of your head. With his weekly adjustments and working to train my body to hold my head/neck in the correct position, the number of headaches in the last 6 months has dropped exponentially.
I've also woken up one morning and my wrist was in so much pain, i couldn't hold anything, I couldn't type, and it just wouldn't function. I had never experienced this before and did not even think that Dr. J (my back chiropractor) would be able to help my wrist. So I waited a day before trying to get any kind of care, thinking "it will just go away on it's own". When a day passed and the pain hadn't subsided, I figured I had to try something. Dr. J actually initiated a conversation with ME that day, to inquire which day I was planning to see him this week, and I decided to mention my wrist pain. He told me to come in that same day. With an adjustment of my wrist - i was back to typing and normal function within the next day.
These experiences could go on. I relocated to the SF Bay area 4 years ago, and have tried seeing 4-5 other chiropractors (found via Groupon, Wellness Fairs, etc.) and had no luck finding a Dr. who's style/methods worked for me. When I finally got a referral from my previous chiropractor in Sacramento, to go see Dr. J, that was the end of my search. I love not only the treatments but also the knowledge that I get from my sessions with him. I take what I've learned from him to improve my personal habits, which in turn further improves my overall well being. A regular chiropractic visit is crucial in preventative care of your body.
I hope you have as great of an experience with his treatment and care as I have. read more
