I really like the hot chilli pepper and a habanero one. They were both well flavored. I got a few ounces of each for my mom to try. This spot is nestled in the Barstow Station property. It is tucked away in the end, so easy to miss if you don't explore the entire area. I was on a bus on my way to Vegas and we stopped here for about 15 minutes for a restroom break. The shop had an assortment of jerky, loose leaf tea with a small variety of unique flavors, CBD tea, and instant mushroom coffee. I was just standing in front and the guy at Jeds jerky asked if I wanted a sample and I said sure. Everything I sampled was good! I love spicy jerky so I sampled Caroline reaper (HOT!!! and good) ghost pepper (LINGERING!!!), and Memphis bbq I ended up buying the Memphis bbq which I loved. It's not too dry and the sweet and spicy was just right. Customer service was great too! The only thing is of course they don't actually tell you how much is actually a quarter pound or pound. They will only measure it when you buy. But every jerky place like this is relatively "expensive" so I wasnt exactly surprised by the price. In general, meat is expensive, jerky takes time,and you can sample until you find one you love. So I think Jed's jerky is definitely worth buying! read more

We stopped into Jed's Jerky at the Barstow Station and sampled about 5 different flavors of jerky before deciding. I like the spicier jerky so I sampled the four hottest and a teriyaki. The ghost pepper had a lingering heat which I would expect but was on the drier side. The hot cowboy was warm but also dryer. Teriyaki was good. The red hot pepper was my favorite with a nice heat and very moist. I purchased a 1/4 pound, came in a box and they gave me a military discount. Great snacks whilst traveling down I-15. I had a fun unexpected experience. Got to chatting with the worker and I ended up sampling several Jerky's and different infused organic honeys. The Jerky is tender and just tastes like it's well tended too. Jed has perfected their process first by using prime high quality meats and choosing the right marinade and spices to let the meats take on the full flavors. Because so much care has gone into the Jerky it's on the pricier side. If you're a hardcore Jerky fan Jed's is a place you'd want to stop at. As for the Honey there's so many to choose from. So many mixed emotions about this overpriced, addictive, oh so tender jerky. I have to break down my review in parts, as there are so many good and bad things to tell you about! Here I go, try to keep up. 5 stars for the brisket jerky. This is the soft one usually in smaller chunks versus larger rougher pieces. This shit is freakin' melt in your mouth amazing. Super soft texture and full of flavorful. (That soft makes it weigh more, we'll get to that) A few of my favorite flavors are original, sweet & spicy, and hot & spicy. 3 stars for the other jerky. You know the normal get stuck in your teeth kind. It's good yes. But not worth the price. (again, we'll get to that) The only thing that stands out are the flavors. I like the habanero one. 4 stars for the fact that you are almost always there. Mad props to you for being there on a Sunday night. Or any other time I'm driving home from Cali 9am-9pm. Very cool. Ok, now it gets ugly. Well, a little. 1 star for your stupid, STUPID sample policy. First off, it's inconsistent. One day we can both try a sample. The next time only one of us can. I've walked by this jerky place every time we stop over at Barstow to use the restroom and not once have I decided to try it because I don't know how long that jerky has been sitting around. Today was the first time I decided to sample it because I needed a meaty snack. So I sampled the famous bbq and the sweet Teriyaki. It was very soft compared to other jerky's I've had. The cashier was nice. My boyfriend and I thought it was $12.95 a pound so we decided two get two flavors for a quarter pound each and when I heard the total I couldn't believe it lol. It came out to $41! We decided to just take one quarter pound because that was a ridiculous price although I understand their jerky is good for up to a year with no preservatives and is made in house. I don't know if I'd buy it again for the price but if I had the money Then why not. I wish the prices were a lot more clear though because I didn't see it anywhere. The sample we had was excellent. Unfortunately, what was given to us was stale. I bought my jerky on Monday morning and tried to eat some Monday night. I don't think they sold it stale. They just did a poor job wrapping it up. They basically wrap it the same way a butcher wraps fresh meat, but mine was wrapped loosely, exposing it to air and now it's stale. Quite an unfortunate experience on our drive through Barstow. My boyfriend and I were stoked to see Jed's Jerky- tons of great sounding flavors and even a few different meats. On trips in the past, we have paid waaay too much money for small servings of terrible airport beef jerky, and almost nothing can keep us away from good jerky. Turns out, "almost nothing" consists entirely of Jed or his employee, whoever it was that was there. First off, the entire time he was talking to us, he was on his cell phone, reading and laughing at something. Sentences were cut off and split in the middle while he attending to whatever it was he was doing. Don't worry, that alone wouldn't have scared us off. We wanted to sample 3 types: Buffalo, sweet-and-hot, and a spicier style. Our server was adamant that we could each have one sample, OR, he suggested, we could let one of us take both to decide between two. While playing on his phone, he rudely repeated that it was one sample only until he had rung "something" up, even through assurance we would make a purchase and the offer to put money "down". While I trust my boyfriend's taste, and selecting a jerky I didn't like wouldn't be the end of the world, the lack of customer service, poor manners, and impoliteness were too much and we left beef-jerky-less. read more

Bought jerky from Main Street Station location in Barstow, Ca. today. I'm not sure if their scale needs calibration or if they are in it to slightly rip people off. When I got home I weighed what I bought and it came 10 grams short of what the scale said I had purchased. Ten grams short on my sale, 10 grams short on the next person's sale, and the sale after that, etc., over a year, 10 grams short on every sale is REAL money, money that goes into the owner's pocket. I figured out what what went wrong. I wanted a mix of two flavors and the sales person put both in one package and manually input the weight of both as the same size to add up a standard 3 ounce package. The problem was the weight was not accurate. It was the assumption that the mix totaled 3 ounces when it did not. A warning to future customers, make them put mixes in separate packaging and tell them to slow down when weighting each jerky. Make sure you see the weight and the cost you are paying for. This is way too costly jerky, more than $12 per 3 ounces that's right $12 per 3 ounces, to get taken advantage of. I don't care how artisan it is, I can make as good in my own oven at home for much cheaper. Bad on me, they do no display the cost of the jerky, and I should have asked how much per pound, per half pound, per eight ounces, I would have never guessed how much less than 3 ounces would cost. Maybe I should go in business and sell jerky at Main Street Station? You may wonder if my scale is at fault. It's a brand new scale (six months old) and something that I need to weigh prescriptions for accuracy, and no the prescriptions are not for marijuana. It has been independently checked for accuracy. Good jerky, but I won't buy from there again. I don't liked getting ripped off, even by 10 grams a sale. read more
