They have a very good selection of Christmas Ale beer which is popular seasonal beer right now. They have the option to build your own six pack but sadly no containers to put the beer in. As most of these beers come in bottles this was disappointing. When I went up to the front to ask if they had any empty six pack containers the cashier indicated no. As I cashed out I had a bottle of tequila and six of these Christmas ales that were about three to four dollars a piece. So my tab was about $80 which I thought was a little high and as I'm rolling down the street to head towards home I noticed she charged me for two six packs of one of the particular Christmas beers instead of two singles. Which added additional $20 to my bill. Ouch. So now do I want to get back in the car and go back over there? This place has kind of a hard in/out. My fault for not double checking because she was still on the phone and distracted. I think this is why the error occurred. Partly my bad. They also charge a convenience fee for using your own $$ aka debit card. I should definitely probably go back over there but forget it. They just will not get any more of my business. They also sell wine and some diluted spirits, but that's it. No liquor. I come here for the beer. I'll drink beer out of a lined can, or out of a dark bottle, but in general, I prefer draft beer. It's fresher and more flavorful...yeah, I know, that's not always the case, but in general, it is. HLS currently has 26 taps that are dispensing local and regional beers, and they will be installing 12 more in the not too distant future. They sell draft beer in 16 oz cans, 32 oz cans/growlers, and 64 oz growlers. They also have a humongous selection of bottled beer and pre-canned...um, I guess what some people call "canned," beer. They also sell wine, pop, and other things you'd find in a party store. THIS is where to come in SoTol/Maumee/Holland when you wanna purchase some FRESH beer.
