For a small town and the only place to eat around here the food is fresh and amazing.

There is some special food to be had in this part of Wisconsin, I am a huge fan of the Green Fountain Inn and the Secret Garden just a few blocks away, and now Sulten Belly. We were greeted as we entered and given some clarity of the process so there was no confusion. I liked that we found a seat and took our time with the menu before I went to the ordering station, ordered, paid, and received a number for the table. I'm not exactly pleased with the modern method of tipping before you even see the food, but I paid cash so I could add more to the tip jar if deserved. Oh yeah, if you pay by card they tack on 4%. Bring your cash, they discourage cards. Where I live (Laguna Beach, CA) , some restaurants are the other way. They are not accepting cash and only take alternate card or digital payments. I ordered Mr. Beefy, a delicious smoked beef tenderloin panini sandwich with melted provolone cheese that really hit the spot. The beef tasted like it had been braised in wine, just wonderful for $16.50. Also excellent was the Sulten Belly Favorite Salad that was with assorted fresh greens and bacon, $13.50. The staff here were all friendly and helpful. It was a nice cozy vibe without the bright lights. I will be back. They also have premade frozen dishes available that look pretty good.

What a gem in Mauston!…read more We're here for a baseball tournament, and I stopped in to grab a couple of sandwiches to throw in the cooler. I had the chicken salad, and it was absolutely delicious--unique, with a few surprise ingredients and a sweet chili drizzle that completely made it. I'll definitely be stealing that idea for my own chicken salad. I also ordered the smoked turkey cranberry hoagie for later. When I asked if it would be possible to have the bread on the side so it wouldn't get soggy, the team at the counter went above and beyond, individually wrapping all of the ingredients so I could put together a fresh sandwich for dinner. Such thoughtful customer service. I couldn't leave without trying the toffee pretzel cookie, and wow... it was to die for. I shared it with a few of the other team parents, and the first question was whether you sell them by the dozen! This will absolutely be a repeat stop every year for this tournament, and probably several times throughout our stay in Mauston. Great food, incredible customer service, a fresh produce stand in the back, and the cutest little shop filled with unique finds. Highly recommend!

We split a club sandwich which was more than big enough. All ingredients were fresh. I loved the fresh bacon. Yum! I had a fun time perusing the items around the store for purchase. So many local options. As we still had a few hours to go on our journey, I skipped the cheese (although it looked amazing) and chose some 'travel' beef sticks. So good. Lots of tables for seating. I was disappointed that they wouldn't fill my water bottle with tap water but I enjoyed the bottled lemonade as a replacement. Good experience.

Whew...we were camping nearby, it was the day we were set to pack up, and it was pouring rain…read more Packing up a pop-up camper in the pouring rain? Not super fun. We were drenched and decided that some hot coffee on the way out of town would be just the thing. Aquamos Coffee Collaborative to the rescue! It's in downtown Waupaca, so the parking is basically street or street angled parking. My husband was able to find a spot to sit with the car and camper while I ran in and got our coffee. Since it was lunch time and I noticed what sounded like a pretty stellar breakfast sandwich on their menu, I ordered us a couple of those as well. For our coffee we got the caramel roll latte (caramel-y, ever so slightly cinnamon-y deliciousness). They also have alternative milks, if you so desire. The breakfast sandwich was a sesame bagel with chipotle mayo, egg, bacon, and sharp cheddar--it was super flavorful and absolutely delicious. Oh...and I believe they're dog friendly. We were warmed up by the hot coffee and kickin' eats in no time. Thanks Aquamos! Get to it!

We're anticipating a breakfast menu beyond waffles, I would even be happy with yogurt and granola. The espresso as near as I can tell is a medium roast with great flavors, kind of a nutty finish and just a hint of chocolate. The most predominant flavor is coffee, which is my favorite. Perhaps as the baristas gain experience we will see latte art in a large ceramic latte cup as a lagniappe. The place is perfect, I hope it will be a permanent Waupaca establishment. Good WiFi, except for the day it didn't work.
