It turns out that not everyone I called got back to me and, even for those that did, Ryan was still offering very competitive rates, and, again, I appreciated his immediate and pleasant help. Leading up to the inspection, I received several reminder text messages. I didn't necessarily need them all as I am rather conscientious with my already busy schedule, but I can certainly see where the chaos of home-buying would make it so that others would appreciate as many calendar reminders as possible. On the day of the inspection, Ryan arrived early. Our realtor let him into the property and he was already hard at work when we arrived a few minutes before the scheduled time. Ryan worked through the property taking about 2 hours during part of which we felt comfortable leaving for an hour to go get breakfast. When we came back, Ryan walked us through some things that he had discovered. He was incredibly thorough while still making the information accessible. (Sidenote: My spouse and I, who both love what we do in our own careers, had a moment of enjoyment listening to Ryan geek out about an example from a previous inspection in order to better illustrate a point. In the middle of the stressful home-buying process, it was actually fun to listen to someone talk about a job that they clearly enjoy.) Since our inspection three days ago, Ryan has followed up twice by email and text to make sure that we understand the information in our highly detailed and well-documented report. 5 Stars for a great home inspection that was thorough, explained well, safe, and friendly…read more I used PJM based on my realtor's recommendation (shout-out, Beth Hobart!) and am so glad I did. Paul was armed with a mask whenever he and I spoke (he didn't wear a mask while inspecting the room, as one would expect on a 90+ degree Florida day) and he answered all of my initial questions about all the types of inspections (wind mitigation, 4 point inspection, etc.). He took into consideration the age of the roof in advising us about the inspections we should do- even when it was advising us against adding on certain inspections, which would have garnered him more money by the way. I really appreciate when I can tell that I'm being treated fairly and not just being upsold on services for no reason. Beyond that, Paul stood outside with us and went over all of his findings after he finished the inspection. He was going to send us the official report, but stayed to answer all questions and make sure we felt knowledgeable about every aspect of the findings. Finally, Paul was just a super nice guy. Very friendly, didn't make me feel foolish for certain basic questions, and clearly extremely knowledgeable. I would absolutely work with PJM again if I ever need another inspection on a home. I had an inspection scheduled for September 3. Daniel messaged me the day before to cancel. It is…read morenow September 15, and I have yet to hear back from him about rescheduling. What I found especially odd was that, when he canceled, he gave me a referral to another company/person to contact for the inspection. Given that he has made no attempt to reschedule, I'm left wondering whether he had any intention of doing the inspection at all. ADDENDUM after Daniel response: Your response misses the point of my review. I did not criticize you for becoming ill or for canceling the appointment. The issue is that approximately two weeks have passed since the cancellation and I have received no follow-up communication from you whatsoever regarding rescheduling my inspection or whether you intended to move forward with it. I spent considerable time researching PureSpec Environmental before deciding to hire your company. I did not research or select the company you referred me to. While the referral may have been intended as a courtesy, it does not replace basic follow-up with a client who had already gone through the process of reviewing your services, discussing the scope of the inspection, receiving an agreement, requesting revisions, signing it, and scheduling an appointment. What makes the lack of communication more frustrating is that I have seen posts on your company's Facebook page indicating that inspections have been taking place during this time. Yet I have received no message regarding mine. Unfortunately, I have dealt with several Florida service companies recently where communication and accountability have been extremely poor, including delayed or nonexistent responses and even being billed for work that was not completed in my home. Those experiences are precisely why I now pay close attention to communication and follow-through. So, to be clear: the cancellation was never the problem. The lack of communication for the two weeks following the cancellation is the problem.
