Its close to the pub which only locals stick too & is also really close to the well known Mortdale Bike shed. People probably not aware of this place cause its only open from 12pm on fridays & Saturdays and every other day is open fron 5pm. As soon as you walk into the restaurant you notice all the old school Fire station memorabilia hung up all over the walls :)!! So the the name Fire house Grill is the perfect name for this place :). Was here at the restaurant for a mother's day dinner with the family to beat the hustle & bustle rush of the real mothers day tomorrow :)!! We ordered a mixed entrée with, ribs off the bone, tasty pork belly with a creamy slaw topping, king prawns with a crumbed cheese coating, haloumi cheese, salad with 2 dipping sauces (garlic & tzatziki). For dinner majority had fillet mignone with chips salad and dipping sauce of your choice, i had a oven roasted duck with a tasty salad and mum had the braised beef cheek which tasted a bit over cooked and dry byt all the other maibs were very nice :)!! For dessert 2 people had the mango creme Bruleé which was outstanding, my sister had a perfection sticky date pudding which is never served big enough to satisfy your needs lol & i had a freesh fruit & Cheese platter with a peppermint tea.. the perfect tasty end to a nice dinner night out with the family :)!! Really enjoyed dining at this place.. been here about 4 times now and would recommend it to anyone i know .. and must mention again that while waiting for your food to come out and if you weren't conversing it was really nice to stare around the restaurant & study all the fire house memorabilia they had to offer :)

I'm here to spread a word to Yelpers and stamp out a new evil that has corrupted the minds of the weak. The Cooks Hill steak machine has amassed resources to expand its blight on society with its new flagship of terror: J's Kitchen Steakhouse. *duh dunnnnn* (SUSPENSE) It' s BIGGER - Imprisoning more helpless diners than its predecessor, the dining room feeds like inmates in Long Bay: line up, put your order, pick up, eat, die. (Maybe not die but I'm dramatising here) It's BADDER - Just when you thought you can take a break, the $10 steak offer now runs 7 days a week. Escape is impossible. It's UGLIER - Sorry salads leaves drowned to death in sickly sweet dressing, bland beef masked by overpowering sauces and soggy fries, geddit yet? Read my review again and again - why torture yourself? Here's a challenge if you still want to go: Take a photo of your steak, and compare it to the aftermath of a port-a-loo - the similarities are uncanny. I dread the day this steakhouse grows into the size of CostCo and possesses more bargain hunters. Some cheap things should not be had.

I joined a group of 20+ people for a farewell dinner only arriving when everyone's food was just about done. With such a big group they managed to get the orders wrong with the schnitzel never arriving but an extra steak coming out. Being the nice person I am (ok maybe it was more the hungry person in me speaking) I just took that extra steak not wanting to waste food or get someone into unnecessary trouble. The novelty of this place is having the steak cook in front of you on the hot plate. If you like your steak rare though this might not be such a good thing as depending on what cut you get you could end up with well done steak by the time you get to the end. I thought the food was decent. Prices very reasonable and I do like novelty things! However novelties do come and go so I just wonder how long this place will stick around for.

I personally chose the rump with mushroom sauce and mash potatoes & vegetables for my side. The steak wasn't great but for $14 steak it's quite the deal. My advice for people who enjoy their steak medium rather than well done is to cut up the steak into bite size quickly and leave them on the side (they give you this empty side tray to place your meat in) so it doesn't get get over cooked and become tough to chew. And when you're ready to eat it place it on the stone again to warm it up - or just opt to chose the chef cook it rather than have it stone cooked. But where's the novelty in that? This place is really generous with their sauces as it comes out in a separate (above average) sauce bowl which is fantastic for me because I always end up asking for extra sauce. This restaurant of course offers many other typical Asian dishes along with their steak on the rock and a variety of mixed fruit drinks. Also, coming here on a Friday night this restaurant didn't have such a massive wait like a lot of other restaurant along the strip. There are plenty of parking around, though sometimes you may have to wait 5-10minutes to get a parking spot. Overall, for students out there like me who has to live life on a budget, this place is a great place to go for lunch/dinner as it's cheap and super filling.

Well, today we're checking out Bistecca... a steakhouse speakeasy of sorts! Here's how it went and why it was rated #45 of the top 101 steakhouses in the entire world... Atmosphere/Appearance: Deep in downtown Sydney hidden in an alleyway in the entrance to this literal hidden gem. Lol. Once through the door and down the stairs you're taken to a very dark dimly lit, but very old-school looking tavern. It's a small room, but essentially a waiting room/cocktail lounge for you. Once it's your turn to head into the dining room the door open to the brightly lit room, your phones are locked away in a drawer which you have access to via a key and you're guided to your seat! I LOVED this experience because now you're forced to just live and be in the moment. The kitchen is wide open and you can see everything that's happening. The tables and chairs are scattered throughout the room and you just, BE. Like the good 'ol days before smart phones. Service: I can't remember the name of our server, but he was excellent. We had no issues at all. Food: The menu is extremely simple. You're here for steak. That's it. The steak is sold in 100g increments. So you order by weight. We ordered 900g and the steak was so incredible we both wish we could've gone to maybe 1.2kg. Lol. That's a LOT of steak still, but this does include the weight of the bone. The feature is a large, T-bone steak cut from Australian-grown Chianina cattle and grilled over charcoal. It's recommended to be cooked medium-rare. It seriously was Heavenly. I don't even remember what sides we got. That's how good this steak was. Lol. Value: The steak is $19 AUD ($11.84 USD) per 100 grams (3.5 oz). The conversion can trip you up, so for example, the ORIGINAL steakhouse in NYC (Delmonico's) sells their 18 oz. T-Bone for $76.00 USD. The same size steak here would cost you around $65.00 and it's the #45 best steakhouse in the world. Delmonico's is not even on that list. Do what you wish with that information. Lol. The sides were appropriately priced. In conclusion, I LOVED this place and so did my wife. We still think about Bistecca years after we've been there and it's 100% worth making some good reservations as far in advance as possible because this place is small and will always be packed!
