Absolutely unacceptable customer service from a worker named Shivani in the jewelry department. I approached her politely and said, "Excuse me, can you help me please?" She was on her phone, looked directly at me, and completely ignored me. I repeated myself and asked if she could help me or at least call someone who could. Her response? She rolled her eyes and said, "I'm busy, wait. Don't you have patience?" Then she raised her hand in my face in a dismissive "talk to the hand" gesture, as if to shut me up. I was shocked. She spoke to me like I was bothering her personally--not like a paying customer in a store. I didn't even argue back because the disrespect was so blatant, I felt humiliated. What's worse is that I'm not the only one. I've now seen multiple reviews complaining about this same employee's rude behavior. So why is nothing being done? Where is the management? How can you allow someone with such an unprofessional attitude to represent your store? I used to love JCPenney, but this experience completely changed my view. If a basic issue like this is being ignored by supervisors, I'm deeply concerned about how this store is being run. I won't be returning. read more

I received terrible customer service through the jewelry department! I brought my engagement ring in for a repair to have on prong replaced. I aid in full and picked it up about 6 weeks after drop off and quickly realized that the replaced prong was not flush with the center diamond and was snagging on all my clothing. I immediately stopped wearing it and brought it back in and was told they would re-do the repair at no cost. I then received a call from the jewelry department manager 6-7 weeks after I had dropped it off for the re-do repair saying that they switched companies that they used for the repair and that the ring was still not fixed and that I would have to pay all over again to have the prong repaired again that they messed up! The manager refused to honor the re-do on the repair as initially promised and then hung up the phone on me! I will never be returning to Jc Penny for any jewelry or service and would highly discourage anyone else that values their customer service experience and their jewelry from coming to them as well. read more

Horrible men's dept. The worst I have evee seen. I expected so much better. I jave shopped at JCP in Chico for years, but we moved to Yuba City after losing our home (and clothes) to the Camp Fire in Paradise. I needed a whitw shirt and a nice pair of dress pants. In Xhico everything is clean, well cared for, organized, and the employees are actually helpful. I was greeted nicely as i entered by a young lady in the juniors dept, but no one in men's ever acknowledged me. Thwir phones were too interesting. The clothes were not in any type of organization and they were atuffed together so that they were all wrinkled. The ties, which would would have all been tastefully matched to shorts in Chico were scattered around, many in piles. Plus there was a POOR selection. The store feels dirty. There seems to be little pride in it. JCP used to be our go to clothing source in Chico, but now that we are in Yuba City it won't be and that is sad. read more

Bloodstains. My wife and I drove the 20 minutes to town to buy some nice clothes for me. I was actually impressed with the selection, we picked out a huge pile of clothes and I started trying them on. The dressing room was very small. The door was almost as wide as the room, so there was barely enough room to close the door while standing in the fitting room, and I wear 30 inch waist. If you were any bigger you would have to cram against the wall to close the door. The room was disgusting, with graffiti on the mirror and pins and clips everywhere. The floor was dirty, its only saving grace being that it was tile and not carpet, so theoretically it can be cleaned every now and then. My wife went to get me another shirt, while going through the pile she found one with an apparent blood stain on it. Shortly after that I realized that the room I had been using had blood stains on the walls. After getting kicked out of the fitting room, and thoroughly grossed out, I went to the restroom to wash my hands. What do I find there but blood on the counter from somebody's nose bleed. We left with over $400 worth of merchandise, and I told my wife if we didn't need these clothes for a quickly approaching event, I would have just gone to a different store and bought them. I would like to never shop here again if I can help it. It's worth the extra 40 minute drive to go to Roseville or probably Chico. I just don't understand this store's problem. People get injured and bleed I get it, but usually you want to clean it up. The stains on the walls were a few days old, so somebody should have cleaned them up by now. It was not the same as the blood on the counter, these were from two separate bleeding events, so it's not like someone got injured or had a nosebleed and bled all over the place and the staff just haven't had a chance to clean it up yet, this blood has been on the wall for days. And I'm not surprised. All the guy did when he kicked us out of there was make sure there weren't any customers in there and then locked the doors. I'm sure the rooms won't be cleaned. I guess I could have told someone about it but it appears that no one cares. Basic inspections are not being made. Sorry for the bad review I don't normally do this stuff but this is a new low. This is a typical Yuba City thing. People with no training who don't care about service and are just waiting for their shift to end. Actually the guy was friendly enough, he was helping some people. He helped this guy in a wheelchair and I think I heard him helping someone else as well. The time to use the fitting rooms was over so he was doing his job to kick us out, it just piled on to the bad experience. read more

I listened to her address everyone with a smile and offers for credit. It was then my turn with the same service. The Jewelry Department is Terrible! My Fiancé bought My Engagement Set in July where it sat in a Box in Our Safe until We got Engaged July 16. I took The Set & My Promise Ring Band in on July 18 to have them Resized. Because We don't have a Protection Plan the Cost was estimated $120 being Done No Later than September 1. Come the 1st the Manager is Telling Me they have not heard back from the Private Party that does their Jewelry resizing, etc. Didn't have My Ring for My Engagement Party in September! How Terrible. Anyways, Come September 22 My Rings are finally Back & they're all still too big. Now come to Find Out My Engagement Ring has a Loose Stone & JC PENNEY is trying to say They cannot Help me because My Fiancé didn't Purchase a Protection Plan. What a Joke! I haven't even been able to Enjoy My Engagement Ring because I am Afraid a Diamond will Fall Out since We aren't able to Afford to Fix it! Don't buy anything from that store I got a birthday present from my aunt that lives in Bakersfield on my birthday there were pants but they didn't fit me so I went to get them changed for a bigger size. they told me they have to order them and that I was going to get them trough mail but they need my jcp card to do that. I got the pants trough the mail but also the bill that I have to pay for those pants even though it was a present. I went to store like 5 times then call the number they give you to talk to manager. I called 6 times and on the store and on the phone they say they can't do nothing. Every time I talk to them they are so rude. I will give them -0 stars but there is no option for it. I've never been disappointed with the service here until today. I was "helped" by an associate named Tiffany who seemed like she either hated me or the job. As I approached her register I said hello with a smile and she just scowled silently. There was some confusion on my part about the exchange I was making, so I apologized and rather than responding politely she said nothing. When she was finished ringing up my order I smiled again and said thank you. Again with the death stare and silence. A minute later I saw her helping an older couple, providing them with much better service. I rate this JCP five stars for convenience and one star for Tiffany. People working here are pretty friendly. Nice rewards program! However JCPenney needs to take more pride of their sales floor. The home area section is a mess, with rugs etc scattered all over & areas that are very dusty. In other areas there is clothing all over the floors also. Very bad impression to customers whether old or new. Either hire more people or get the people that you already have to clean the place up on a regular basis. read more

Line backed up with one cashier who kept calling for help but none came. Attempted to use coupon that was sent in the mail, was denied usage and not given satisfactory reason as to why. WOW! This JCP is terrible in every way! The store is usually always a mess, clothes scattered everywhere, a complete cluster you know what! I only come here to get my Levis shirts and that is it. Every time I come here it is always the same experience, dreadful.. Lines are always backed up, either not enough staff, or just a complete disregard for productivity efficiency. I know the town is not big time but it would be nice to go into a store and have some organized departments. Have you tried to find a bra lately in there? This review is for the hair salon. Went there wanting a haircut and there were available employees just sitting around. The receptionist was trying to give clients to the stylist with the least clients so we waited and waited and the lady was no where to be found. Receptionist said she was outside and went to go get her, receptionist comes back and says shes on her phone and that she should be in shortly. Waited another 10 min and nothing. Record went back out side to go get her but we got tired of waiting for her and left. Worst treatment ever! So not go there!! A waste of 30 min!! read more

Came to buy me an engagement ring and the little old short Hispanic lady did her job. She sold me on the ring then I asked her if I can get it in the correct size. She said they only carry size 7 on all rings. and she said I can buy a protection plan for $190 and I told her so I need to buy the protection plan to get the actual size? She says no then I said ok then I don't want the protection plan and asked when I will be able to get the ring in as soon as possible. First she said about 4-5 weeks. I said that's fine. Then she asks again if I wanted to purchase their protective plan for $190. I told her no the. Said I just want my ring without a protection plan. Then she says she looked on the computer and they don't have the size I was looking for. So I just said let me get my money back then. It's kinda funny how I didn't want to buy the protection plan for the engagement ring and the lady all of a sudden said they don't have the correct size for me all of a sudden after she said it will come in after 4-5 weeks. read more

I shop JCP frequently. JCP Yuba City is a disgusting mess. Clothes out place, floor is a mess with clothes, garbage everywhere and failure to put proper sale signage up. My sales person had to walk to the other side of the store to see the price and make the price adjustment on the register for me. This store lacks care. I have observed the laziness of the associates just step over the items on the floor and continue on their way. This store needs a manager has that has concern for the customers. I believe that when something is so broken its time to look at the staff that allowed the conditions to deteriorate and make appropriate changes to better the business. This store is embarrassing for JCP stock holders of which I am one. read more

This JCPenny is like any other but super small. Yeah we know this isn't much of a mall so if u want a better selection ur best bet is the one at Roseville galleria mall. But u will find ur typical shoe Dept, women's, men's etc. I have been going lately for my tween daughter and they have super cute stuff in their juniors department and when u combine their $10 off $25 or any other form of coupon, it makes it reasonable. I don't think the photos on this page are of the Yuba City location. I come here about twice a month to do some clothes shopping. They actually have some pretty good clothing and it is usually on sale. The one negative to this place is lack of a bigger selection of some items. I have noticed that in the JCP in the Roseville Galleria a much bigger variety of shoes and men's wear, and I am sure that goes for all the departments. read more

It's sad that Penney's is in a downward spiral. I cannot see this store lasting much longer. First of all, the website for Penney's is a joke. It is always slow, and doesn't provide all the information on the item you are looking at. They should check out how Kohl's is set up. Twice I have had something in my cart that they ran out of before I ordered it , yet I couldn't remove it from my cart. Had to call to get help with it. I just tried to order a faux fur coat online, put in my credit card info twice, and it just kept rolling back, wanting me to do over. Made me suspicious, and mad. I won't order on line ever again. One hour ago I stopped at the local Penney's. Everything was a mess. They only have one set of dressing rooms open now, and what a mess that was. It is always locked and you have to find someone to open them. Good luck with that. They have also closed down at least two checkout stands. There are only two, and they are always crowded, which is discouraging. I don't feel inclined to shop at a store that takes forever to pay for something. I am not just talking holiday time, this all can happen on a weekday . From what I understand, they had to make some of these cuts so that they could hire security. Another sad comment on life today. I'm giving up on you Penney's. I can't and won't take the stress and disappointment of trying to just give you my money for a product. I must say JC Penney's in Yuba City has gone down hill for a couple of years now, but has now in my opinion hit rock bottom. I visited the store yesterday and thought I was shopping in a teenagers bedroom, the way clothes were piled all over the place. Did management not explain to the employees that clothing displays should be neat and orderly not intermixed and thrown in piles. Even factory outlet stores are organized better than this store. Couldn't discern what was on sale and what was not, as sale signage did not correspond with what was hanging on the racks or thrown on the shelving. Needless to say, the coat and blouse I was going to purchase was not worth the aggravation of standing in a line for an hour or so for the one sales associate manning the register to ring up. Penny's corporate needs to visit this store and make some serious changes to its image and management. read more

Drove 30 miles into town because I had some coupons/codes for savings at JCPenney. Coupon's last day was today, 12/14, and it was good for In Store or On line. Was told it could only be used on line. Coupon stated - In Store or On line.... Wasn't going to argue - didn't need to spend the $30 (originally $60 but only $30 with the infamous discounts that JCPenney and some others are getting in trouble with, since they actually never sell at the suggested retail prices they show - and anyone who would pay those prices is crazy!...), so I wasted about 10 mins and carried the item back to the shelf. Can't say that I didn't try to spend $ there - I rarely stop in, so they didn't get anything from me on this trip either. read more
