JC Penney is one of the few stores still open in Eastern Hills Mall. So I decided to run in there today. I picked up three items, two on clearance and one on sale. After checking out (and not watching the items ring up), I realized that I was overcharged for two of the items. Back in line I go! One was on clearance and clearly had a lower price right on the items. The other item I had taken from a rack with only that item on it. Just difference sizes and colors. Well the cashier went and checked and said the sign applied to various priced items, and mine was one of the higher priced. Even though there was only one item there. Make sense? A bit deceptive in my mind. Look at my pictures. So I got a refund on that and the price adjusted on the other. Then I saw the sign saying they were out of bags. Not how long that sign had been there. Luckily I only had the two items but a few others in line were a bit concerned about that. JCP has gone straight to the crapper. Like someone else said, it's the new Sears. I don't see it surviving much longer. Clothes suck, cheaply made. Nothing in any department "wows" you. I was here for one hour and saw one person throughout the whole store working the floor, hiding in a corner. There was one person working a register and after waiting in line forever, I couldn't use my coupon on what I picked so then had to find something else and wait in line again. And once again I couldn't use my coupon. I walked out after this without making a purchase. I don't see this store in business after another year or two. I don't see the company as a whole surviving more than 5 more years. I used to love shopping JCP. Sad but times have changed and JCP just can't keep up. read more

Stopped in on Black Friday and want to say kudos to the staff for doing a great job getting people in and out, being helpful (I had 3 people offer to help me find something), and keeping the departments tidy. The women's dressing room was also very neat and well staffed. There weren't any coupons since everything was on sale, so that made things easy. Even though I stood in a long line (that moved fast since they had 3 registers opened), I only got wash cloths and a 3/4 length sleeve T-shit. The 4 pack of soft wash clothes were $3, the shirt was $5. As I was cashing out, the employees were calm and another cashier offered to relieve anyone who wanted to go on break. JC Penney is the new Sears. You know, the way Sears was before they shut down every store. I went today to buy a few button down dress shirts. The joke was on me. There were essentially NO dress shirts in their sad, pathetic Men's Department. I guess I'll try Galleria Mall...but I'm not holding out much hope it'll be better. read more

So I have a friend named Jay and a friend named Kay. Jay decided to go into the music business. Kay decided to work for the government. In the 10 years since they left college, Kay has amassed over 400k in savings, whereas Jay has seen only Penneys. Jay's financial situation led him to rename his band "Jay Sees Pennies." And he opened up this little family business on the side, with the same name, selling the clothes that he no longer wears and shows and such. I've never had a pair of jeans that I really liked, but I borrowed some from a friend (who is sort of a teenybopper) and I loved them! And more importantly, several girls I know loved them. So I asked where he got them, and was shocked at how much he paid (I can't afford $100 jeans). And then in January, to my delight, there was an awesome sale and I was able to get two pairs for under $70. I don't know how they can mark down their stuff to this degree, but I was delighted. In actual fact, they were a belated Xmas present from someone, because I can't really afford $70 either so probably wouldn't have got them otherwise, but the fact that I can have such expensive fancy jeans for such a relatively acceptable price, is very delightful. So thank you to the person that bought them for me (you know who you are) and thank you to JC Penney for offering such excellent mark-downs so that mere mortals like me can afford your otherworldly prices and products once in awhile. Also this location has easy in-and-out access because one of its doors is right next to an abundance of parking spaces which are rarely even one-tenth-full. 1 star is for the Salon, 3 are for the store. I went to the JCP salon yesterday, I wanted a haircut in THEIR online trending styles. The stylist, Joan, after being shown the picture and asking me obvious questions...gave me a standard ends cut and blow dry and pulled my hair against the grain making it look like I had a bald spot. She was done. I had showed her the pic 3x. I had my hair grown halfway down my back and my bangs to my top lip. She acted like she didn;t know what I meant. She had trimmed my ends and blow dried my hair and did nothing in regard to the JC Penny cut I had showed her. She even complained 'You JUST BROUGHT ME A PICTURE'. Yes, the trending style in the JCP online magazine. She smelled horribly of cigarettes, like her smock hadn't been washed in years. When I went to get my hair washed, she hit the wrong button on the chair and my body slammed back, hitting the top of my spine and neck into the sink. I told her I wouldn't pay and she also told the girl cashing (who had an awesome half purple half brown coloring and great cut) to not charge me. I made an appointment for the next day with someone else, but I cancelled as right after I found another salon in Eastern Hills that did a great job. I came back and cancelled the JCP appt and told them who was able to do their cut. And who fixed the uneven mess JCP Salon gave me even before the main cut. So, it was Joan in Eastern Hills JCP that needs to at least be able to do JCP featured styles before you make an appointment. In regard to the store....there was a great sale going on. The receipt said 'saved $306.42". There was a drawback about the store. I wanted to buy a watch. The watch was in a box in locked zip tie. I wanted to try it on. I found a clerk in intimates as no one was manning jewelry. She says, "I can't cut that or people will steal them". I ask how I was to try it on? She says, "You can bring it home and if it doesn't fit, you can bring it back." Wth...... Really??? read more

Went here today with my bf and it was an ok experience. The men's suit section wasn't too bad and there was an employee who tried to help us. He didn't really know anything and wasn't really any help but he tried. The section wasn't too messy and things were in the area they were supposed to be in which was nice. Having to look through stuff can be very frustrating when it's not organized which wasn't the case here. I applaud their cleanliness at this store. Thank you! There was one problem which was that there wasn't very many employees working so one person was on the cash register. There were a few people behind us but he was pretty fast and friendly. Review is for the Portrait Studio. Had a 4:15 appointment and left at 5:15. They said they were running behind, however I saw a lady walk in who said she had called earlier to see if there were any delays and was told no and to come in for her appointment and she was behind us and would have easily waited a 90 minutes Then their camera broke and the photog had to call helpdesk....how do you not have a backup piece of equipment??? Do you people know how much it takes to get 2 kids and 2 adults ready for family pictures ? We used to be portrait club members and were considering rejoining Definitely not now ! read more

JCPenney at Eastern Hills mall is a great place to stock up on household items like towels and basic family necessities, like socks or Levis. Plus they have outstanding sales and rewards programs. Here is (IMHO) the most mind-boggling faux pas anywhere: the men's restroom is located, uh, in the little girls department. Yep. How creepy is THAT? Even after remodeling, it stayed. There is a brand of shoes available at JCP called "call it spring" and I'd rename it "call it sprung" since they pretty much fall apart, at least in my experience. Some of the store brands are fine for seasonal items, like St. John's Bay flannel shirts. JCP carries plenty of name brands, Levis, Lee, Jockey, and so on. Sephora is located within the store, much like a teenager with living quarters in the attic - separated by a wall, but snug within the place - playing their own music, doing their own thing. I've always had helpful associates the few times I've popped in there. JCP is a clean, well-run store. If only they'd put the men's room, hmmmm, in the MEN'S DEPARTMENT?? Or swap the little girls department with men's? Or housewares? Or anywhere except the Little Girl's Department. read more

Showed up at 5:35 for a kids cut. (Salon hours are until 6). Woman who was cleaning up told us they close at 6 and there was no way she could get us done in time. Not sure how many places take 25 min for a child's cut. read more

Since Penney's has had their revamp, the stores look so much better as does the merchandise, but the quality of the goods is still really junky. This is one of those chains that reminds me of the saying "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig..." This place LOOKS much nicer, the merchandise looks much nicer, but it's steal cheap junk. Sorry Penney's. I try to like your clothing and other stuff but nothing fits right, the materials are junk, and everything just seems to miss the mark. At least this store has a Sephora. though it's small. read more

Really good selection of sizes for girls, including those tricky tween sizes (in between girls and women's sizes) that are now called "plus". My daughter is 11 1/2 and has almost outgrown kids, while she is still to short for women's. The girls "plus" sizes fit her perfectly. No other department store seems to have such a good range of girls sizes for affordable prices. We love Target and Justice, but Target lacks in-between sizes and Justice is way overpriced. JCPenney has regular sales and we get good prices there. read more

This is regarding the portrait studio at the eastern hills location. We had a great experience - extremely patient girl who helped with my 4 month son who became a bit fussy. I am at a loss right now for her name but I want to say Jessica? So sweet and helpful. Highly recommend it - I made the appointment the day before. Spend less and get some great shots!! read more

Went into the Eastern Hills Mall location and I couldn't believe how messy this store was. All I wanted to do was exchange a shirt and it took me over an hour to find something with the displays looking the way they did. And not an associate in site to help. But if you did find one they were "too busy" to help...really??? read more

Best JCP in the region- VERY clean, modern, and aesthetically pleasing. I love that they're always changing displays and keeping things fresh. It is really impressive. Also excellent customer service with incredible people running this store. 5 stars all around! The only thing I wish It had was a second floor and a few escalators :) read more

Please do NOT do to the hair salon in JC Penney. They are terrible!! My daughter has been getting her hair done there since she was 4 years old (she's now 8). EVERYTIME I call they never know what braids are or how to code them. It's so frustrating that they are not up to date on ALL types of hair. This last time they scheduled my daughter in for 30 minutes even though her hair takes 2 hours!!! Then they provided NO solution but to have my daughter wait in the salon all day. Both Sparkle and Ellana (the manager) were very rude to me. After all these years I will NEVER go back. BEWARE!!!! read more
