Black Friday was still going on through the weekend (Nov 28-30, 2025). I placed an order online for pickup instead of delivery. This review is to give a shout-out to Ashley, the sales associate, for her superior customer service. When I arrived, I saw the line for order pickups on the 1st floor. Since the sale prices were still active, I decided to make some additional purchases. When it was my turn at the register, Ashley retrieved my online order from the back storage area. She verified my identity and completed the process. She also rang up the merch I chose while browsing the sales. Please note, there was a lot of customers, several registers were handling customer purchases. A man to the right of me came by to pickup an order for four items. Another sales associate couldn't find his order. Ashley said "it's in the storage area on the shelf to to right. Look on the bottom row, there is a note taped to his order." How in the world could she recall this specific order and know its exact location. Another customer to my left asked for a price check on two hats she was holding. Ashley to the rescue again! As she was looking up my account number, she used a hand-held device to scan the tag of the hats and tell the customer the price. She helped customers to the right and left of me while handling my transactions. I requested a gift receipt for some of the items and she quickly and efficiently placed those items in a separate bag with the receipts. I like shopping in person to choose or try on my purchases. I bought towels, pajamas, and sweaters. Occasionally, the online order works just as well and saves time. The quality of the goods and products at JC Penny's Department store is very good. I get my money's worth. Sincerely, Rosemary read more

So here's Penney for your thoughts, a nickel for a deal, A dime if you tell me that you love me... 5/5 Deals We got a few things on clearance, nothing like a $2 onesie or 3 piece baby clothes for $3.50. Be patient as it may not be every day you find steals for deals. All the racks were fully stacked on our visit. You can get coupons on the JCPenney app. Christmas outfits are out as well. 5/5 Service Extra cents at the end of your purchase go a long way. There were people checking in on separate tables and we asked the cashier about it. Apparently those extra cents go to help a community fund that helps low income families. 5/5 Parking Plenty of parking around it's two entrances. Located on the South side of the Plaza West Covina. Save your Penney's and take advantage of some deals. Psalm 32:7, God bless read more

Great customer service store is always clean. Can always find what you need and it's always great deals. Great coupon coupons

So I'm standing in the exchange line and Ive been here, same spot, for over 10 minutes! There is a woman exchanging over $300 dollars worth of clothes! There is only one cashier at the exchange lane. When asked if she should get help she says it's only me, I have no help! And when asked if we can just go to a regular check out she says I'm not sure they know how to do exchanges! Finally I get up there the employee was very nice and helpful. read more

The ladies working in jewelry were a mess ! super rude and unprofessional. A woman in a striped shirt ( I am assuming she was a supervisor) told me she would help me out after the customer in front of me which wasn't a problem. The problem was she never ended up helping me out, she walked away to a different part of the jewelry department and helped out someone else. She knew I still needed help because she looked back at me several times. Extremely unprofessional especially with her being a supervisor. I then went to another girl who was working in the jewelry department, she was rude as well. Everything escalated to a point where I had to ask for a manager. I was then helped out by the manager Freddy who was very kind and helpful. He definitely made the situation better and is a great manager! Thank you Freddy! read more

Register system do not match prices displayed by merchandise, have to walk with associate to displayed price every transaction to prove, then that's when they adjust price on register. Store Coupons are deceiving, not honored at all even if you abide with coupon exclusions and requirements . Associates trained not to honor any discounts till you prove and discuss with them and they FINALLY honor coupon . Need to prove yourself following coupon requirements but jcp associates are trained not to give discounts even if you follow coupon requirements . Customers end up just paying what associate demands as you're in line for a long time as there's only one register area in the whole store open even during holiday busy . Improve on your customer service to be knowledgeable and make sure register system are matching your price displays on merchandise . People are in a budget, so coupons are used and customer service should not be mad when discounts are used and try to get away with giving the discounted price . read more

After being a loyal customer for over 20yrs.. keep in mind i use to buy my close here for high school.. but not anymore after today.. very disappointing... the customer service was good. My issue is the whole price matching with the online prices. They make it seem like it's two different stores.. or whatever.. target prices matches without a problem and so does walmart.. i don't understand, if it's something special or what for the whole price matching.. just so confused and frustrating... i hope kohls doesn't do me the same cause that's were I'm heading to right now.. smh smh SMH!! read more

So with Jc Penney's, this place use to be my favorite go to store for men's clothing. Before they would have a large selection of men's clothing, but now they seem to cater more to the younger generations, with bright colors, abstract patterns and more sport attire. I'm more of a low key, casual to business casual, average kind of a guy. So it's getting harder to find things that I like....maybe I'm getting old. Place is fairly clean, associates are nice and helpful......when you can find them. Cut backs in the amount of checkouts stands and overall personnel, means more self served and longer checkout lines. Downgrade to three stars. read more

This review is specifically for the service I received this morning from cashier, Jenny. I bought two things and she asked me if I had a JCPenney card, which I do, but I just wanted to pay for it with debit and not get a bill. She explained to me that if I used my JCPenney card, I would get my items at a discounted price, earn points, and I could make the payment to my credit card right then and there and not deal with the bill later. I saved almost 10 dollars on my items, which in this economy, every dollar counts. I feel like Jenny really went out of her way to save me money and make the process simple for me. She could have just easily let me pay full price. Some people don't even take the time to save their customers money or explain the benefits of using your store card. I've had my cc since 2018. I found some cute pants from a.n.a and I love that JCPenney carries a petite section. I will continue to shop at this store. Thanks Jenny!! read more

Ordered a bunch of items online for curbside pickup at the store. Waited about 15 minutes after I checked in and said I'm at the store. I would've given 5 stars but I felt that the wait should've been shorter. The girl confirmed who I was and had me check my order to make sure I got everything. We loaded everything into my trunk (it was alot of stuff). Easy-peasy! I like this way of shopping! read more

I was very disappointed in the customer service. I had a terrible experience with a return. I went into the store to make a return during a weekday around 2-3pm. The store was not busy at all. I was the only one in line and there were about four employees at the checkout, standing around talking to eachother while they saw me standing in line waiting and they literally ignored me. When one other person came in line to make a purchase, they took her right away to checkout while I had been standing there alone, no one else around, for at least three minutes waiting to be attended. Trying not to be a karen, I was keeping my cool and made more eye contact with the employee that was checking out the lady that came after me. Another lady came after and she was attended by the other employee while I was still waiting. I was about to walk out when finally the employee who assisted the first lady that came after me, decided to assist me with my return. Now I understand why people shop online vs in store because no one wants to be treated with bad service. read more

Another JCP that advertises online that men's shirts are available at the store, but when you get here, they are out of stock. I hope that these aren't gimmicks to try to lure people in to shop. Ideally, I would rather shop online, but I do venture to the store if they say that the item is available. However, I've been batting ZERO in being able to locate this so-called invisible item in the store. It's a big waste of time to travel here and not be able to get what I want. However, I did see a couple nice tropical shirts that give me that aloha look. Mustn't pass up on the free samples of cologne where I drench myself in it. Yeah, you can smell me a mile away. Probably take a couple days to wash all that off. Well, it's freeeeeeeeee read more

Jcpenny in West Covin is not really good at returning jewelry. I only bought the ring 3 days ago as a gift then returned it unsuitable and the staff mentioned the rings looked worn. Buying here is easy but Jcpenny staffs are giving you a hard time to returning the jewelry. The staff who help me name Hablo Espanol so make sure you do buy at Jcpenny in West Covin to be sure they will give you a hard time when you return and the staff (Espanol) scan the ring wrong and needed to rescan and asked the manager for help since she didn't even try to scan the second time then it work fine. This review is specifically for the ladies working returns . She is super rude and doesn't even try to help you correctly trust me I understand working retail and having annoying customers but some people are just trying to get in and get out and not give problems. For example I couldn't find my receipt but JCPenney can look up receipts and she just said " no I can't look from last year" even though I had said it was from 2 months ago " and she was just really rude didn't want to help at all. I'm glad another customer after me (more outspoken ) set her in her place because that associate was so rude for no reason at all. I'm so glad I was able to get another associate instead of her because the other one was way nicer and I think the rude ones name was : Sophie or something like that I really don't remember The nicer one had glasses & tattoos so thank you!!! I've never written a review before, but I was so impressed with the customer service that I received today from a young gentleman named Sean (in the men's jeans department) that I felt compelled to do so. Unfortunately, many good deeds go unnoticed in our harried times, so I felt it especially important to acknowledge this I was there to exchange a pair of jeans for my difficult 12 year old boy who wasn't with me. He's in that stage where youth sizes aren't quite cutting it anymore and he's transitioning to grown man sizes. Being that he's worn nothing but shorts for the past two years and has grown considerably since his last pair of jeans, I was at a loss as to how to shop for men's jeans. Who would've known there are so many different styles of Levi's? Sean expertly helped me in knowing what the different numbers meant (501's, 559's, 505's, 517's, etc). When I couldn't find my son's correct size, he offered to search in the back and insisted it wouldn't be a problem to do so, which was nice, as employees at other places sometimes act bothered when they have to look in the back, which makes customers, in turn, resentful to spend any money there Sean was unable to find my son's size, but that was very likely only due to the fact that he's in a transitioning stage. Undeterred, he then recommended that I could possibly still find my son's sizes in the youth department (it's actually like he read my mind, as I was about to ask him what size a men's 28 waist would translate to in youth sizing). Without hesitating, Sean told me just that, as well as certain styles/cuts would best suit what I had in mind regarding my son's personal style While this entire interaction was going on, a few other customers approached Sean with questions, and he somehow satisfactorily helped them without taking any of his attention away from helping me--which is remarkable in itself, especially in this day and age of short attention spans When I noted how impressed I was with his knowledge, he told me that he picked up what he knew both by working there, and also from researching via YouTube. I thought it was cool that he learned as he went along on the job, but also that he took the personal initiative to broaden his knowledge via YouTube research--any employer would due well to hire such people as Sean He went above and beyond: knowledgeable, cordial, able to make great suggestions (such as what style--other than a bootcut--would cover a boot, and what cut is roomier in the thigh, etc), friendly, totally efficient, and 100% professional. Also: I don't know how he managed to do it, but the Levi's section was in immaculate shape even though it's back-to-school time! Thank you, Sean, for customer service that went above and beyond. You are a gem and I'm sure I'm not the only customer to have noticed. You are the type of person who inspires others to go the extra mile read more

I came by here for the 1st time this past week with my husband and I have to say that this JcPenny has the oddest layout, especially compared to all the other JcPenny stores that I have been to. I found it was strange that the furniture is on the 2nd floor, located right next to the lingerie section. And next to the lingerie section is the men's clothing section. In other stores I have shopped at, generally the lingerie section isn't right next to the men's clothing section, usually the babies section is located next to it. Here, the baby clothing section is located on the 1st floor, near the make up and jewelry section. To me, it just doesn't seem there is much rhyme, nor reason to why things are located in the area that they are. Also the employees here do not seem super friendly, nor do they seem to care about their job (if that is not the case, they sure don't seem to act otherwise). I wish there were more price checker machines. By the way, the ladies' restroom is on the 2nd floor and the men's is on the 1st. I probably would not come back here, especially since I do not really like shopping at the West Covina Mall. read more

I love JC Penny for specific things. The prices and sales are always awesome. Things like slips, and other underwear. Yes, I said a slip lol I needed one for a dress that had some mesh on it and you could see through it. All the other large department stores were a total let down. JC Penny's is also good for kids to tween age of clothing. The clothing is perfect for the "in style" tween, yet after that age the clothing becomes boring and overpriced for everyday items. Items like women's suits and formal dresses are also plenty. The customer service once you find someone was good. The department store is big and there aren't many people available to tidy and help as they are working the register with the long line. So you have to look through a mess as well as wait in line a long time. read more

I want to start by saying that I've been coming to this JCPenny for years. They have some great deals and for the most part their employees are friendly and kind and very helpful. Today 12/01/18 @ around 9:20ish pm I encountered a very Unpleasant employee at the register. As human I definitely understand that people have their days and some days can definitely be long and all we want as humans is to go home with our families especially around this time of the year. JOISE @ the registrar in the Children's/ Shoe area downstairs was so cold, unprofessional & overall with a horrible attitude. My father was going to pay with his GOLD JCPenny card & her whole attitude when I told her I wanted to do separate transactions and asking about prices was rude. When I asked if she could price check for some boots that on the sign read was different from what she scanned she looked so soo soooo bothered .. her whole demeanor was horrible from start to finish. & I understand if she didn't want too, but at least wait until your shift is over to be a sh***y person. I wish I could give more than 2 stars but with JOISE as an employee I definitely can't. **we actually left to finished the other transaction with a different employee because her rudeness was THAT bad. Everyone going to this JCPenny stay away from her as your cashier , maybe on the floor helping costumers she'll have a better attitude. I wish her the best with her attitude, & happy holidays JOISE ! read more

First of all, this place definitely does not deserve such high ratings. Have you guys ever even been to other jc penneys? Sure this one's a decent size, but it's COMPLETELY unorganized. And the staff here? Majority are obviously bitter and hate their jobs so much that they treat their customers with absolutely no respect. Maybe I just came at a bad day? Either way I don't see myself ever coming back to this JC Penney ever again. Talk about horrible customer service. JC Penney in general is a great department store. No one can deny their amazing sales and coupons. But the one in West Covina gives me a completely different view of it. Yes, they have the same clothes and accessories, but everything is misplaced and all over the floor and off the hangers. It's a mess to look at. When I went, the employees were very short with me and looked annoyed when I asked where the coats section was. And ALSO gave me the wrong direction as to where it was as well. It wasn't even busy at all when I was there and yet the place was so cluttered. What do these employees do all night? The only up side was the fine jewelry center. FINALLY an associate that seemed to actually like her job enough to be friendly. And they also had a nicer and wider selection of fine jewelry than other jc penneys I've been to. They're the only reason I'm even giving another star. Well them and their sephora section. Which is a plus. The associates there seemed friendly as well. But other than that, I was just appalled by the way the employees of the actual store treated me and my mother. I could go on and on with different examples of their rudeness but I won't bore you with details. All I have to say is, this store seriously needs some re-staffing asap. read more

First I'm going to start by saying how much I actually love JCPenney and second I know it wasn't the fault of the person at the counter who got most of my grief. Levis were on sale BOGO --who doesn't love BOGO well all the styles were on sale EXCEPT one rack of skinny jeans because they were of newer style, however they were placed smack in the middle of the all the ones that WERE on sale.....of course we chose 4 pairs off the one rack that didn't have a sale marker on it -- I'm sure the person who set it up that way planned to have the person fall in love with the pants because they fit so good just say --ok I'll pay regular price for $59 pants that I wouldn't have even looked at without all the sale signs around them. Nope. Put them back. c'mon I say thats borderline false advertising. read more
