So I took my wife up here and we were looking around in the curtains and drapes and an employee an older woman kept looking at us an asked if we needed help, I told her no we were just looking and she walked off. Now we're an interracial couple, no biggie, but she kept trying to sneakily watch us from a distance, everywhere we went there she was staring and then walking off when we looked at her, a few minutes later a male employee is talking to her and he starts doing it. I wanted to say something but the wife said no and we just left. The Saphora inside was awesome, set my wife up for a makeover and she had a wonderful time and the employee was so nice and treated my wife like a queen, she knew her job and did outstanding explaining to my wife what she was doing, why she was doing it, the different kinds of make stuff. Very professional. We only go there for saphora now. Shame. read more

I had a receipt on my cell phone from the Kenwood location and was told that I can't get my money back ! I purchased a pair of Strictly Comfort shoes from J.C. Penney's over a year ago and they fell apart when I wore them 2 weekends ago while going to see a show.  I could barely make it to the theater because the bottom was coming out and I had to walk slowly.  I haven't worn the shoes that much, maybe 3 or 4 times since I bought them.  I have other shoes that are older and have not done this whether I wear them a lot or not.  I think the shoe was defective, especially since this only happened to 1 of the shoes.  The other sole has a crack in it so maybe it will end up the same way but it still held together and I didn't notice anything wrong with it while I was wearing it. I tried to use my JC Penney rewards account to find out when I bought them but after the website returned my yahoo email address as not being recognized, I created a new rewards account using my gmail address and thought I could link the reward card number to it but there's no option to do that on the website so I called and asked the rewards customer service agent who said she did see my yahoo address was associated with the rewards card number and that there were system problems Monday (10/11) so that's why it didn't recognize my email to reset the account login password.  She also said she could link the rewards card number to the new gmail account and remove the yahoo email address but her system also had issues and she couldn't do it after trying a couple times and placing me on hold while she spoke with someone else or another department.  She told me that she could only see back 6 months of purchases in my history but the store would be able to see everything so on Tuesday (10/12) I went to the Colerain store in Ohio where I told two of the associates my situation but they said they can only look up 6 months as well. They scanned the UPC on the box but it didn't bring up anything and they tried searching on their phones for information on the brand to get contact information but they couldn't find any.  I thought this is a J.C. Penney store brand but they weren't sure so I'm asking now to see what recourse I have for replacing these damaged shoes.  I've read shoe brands like Nike will replace shoes/sneakers in such situations.  I emailed Customer Service and attached pictures of the shoes and the box with the UPC sticker and asked for any help they could provide in coming to a resolution on this issue. I received the following response from JC Penney Customer service: We are sorry for the experience you've had with us, we will ensure this is sorted out for you at the earliest. We are extremely sorry to inform you that we are unable to locate the orders under your account with provided details, our system does not save orders that has exceeded 13 months. I responded that I didn't understand what the resolution was that they were suggesting and reiterated that as they noted and as I stated in my first email that I am a rewards member so I'm not sure why they were asking me to join the rewards program. I already went to the nearest store with the shoes and explained my situation which I included in my email so I don't know what returning to the store will do unless I'm missing some information here.  Sorry about your system and the pictures, I wanted you to be able to see the shoes the same as the store associates did.  Please advise as to exactly how this can be sorted out as you stated. Located in a strip mall, and near a major freeway, this JC Penny is easy to get to. This JC Penny has a Sephora, salon, and portrait studio, to go with all typical department store finds. The potrait studio was the reason for our visit. While being completely empty, the photographer seemed to be in a bit of a hurry to more from pose to pose. She did get one shot that was perfect, so I guess I shouldn't complain. The guy who showed me the pictures had a sales pitch for EVERY photo, and enhanced photo there was. With antsy children, I would have preferred he let me just look at the images. His sales pitches took longer than the actual photo shoot. If you don't come armed with a coupon, groupon, or living social deal, be prepared to pay a pretty penny. Unlike some other studios, one must return in 2 weeks for one's prints. The prints seem to be of higher quality than the ones from the instant print places. The wait is worth having images where the colors hold true. I would, and plan to use the studio's services again. As to the rest of the JC Penny. Their "door buster" deals were great. Regular priced merchandise was a bit pricy. This location is only one story. They try to cram a lot in the space they have. Some areas were cramped. read more

The girls here act annoyed when asked for help. I went today to ask if a Kat von D liquid lipstick was in stock and she seemed so put out to have to look. She throws a few lipstick around and says sorry it's out and goes back to looking at herself in the mirror. I am sorry I didn't get her name but none of them there today even asked If I needed help. They were too busy giggling and talking amongst themselves. Also everything I wanted was out of stock. Not a good shopping day at Sephora. I left with nothing. read more

If you have any problems with getting around and need a wheelchair for any reason the manager at this store DOESN'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS! I recently broke my foot and I've spent thousands over the years at this very store so when I went in to shop for bedding I was told they had ONE wheelchair and someone was using it. So apparently they're happy to take your money but can't provide enough wheelchairs in case a loyal customer needs one! And they WONDER why online sales are off the charts! Guess I'll just shop from home off Amazon or try my luck at Kohl's or Target. Thanks, Penney's for making me get dropped off, hobble into the store, stand there on one leg for 15 mins. for them to figure out that their ONE wheelchair was being used and then hobble out the store and leave. read more

Horrible store. I use to really like JCP but it's really gone down hill in the past year. last week I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a store. I was purchasing a ring for my wife and they didn't have it in her size so the lady had to order it. the ring size was a 7 and i needed a 6. I told her I want to buy the 7 and take it with me so I have something to give her on our anniversary and I'd just exchange it for the 6 when it comes into the store. well.. she charged me for 2 rings lol.. I stopped and said "wait.. I only want 1 ring why are you charging me for 2? I'm not sure why she thought I'd want to purchase 2 and return one for my money back later. she canceled it right away so no big deal but still a pain. so later I called the 1-800 number to make sure they canceled it and the guy that answered the phone was a complete Ahole. I asked when I'd get the money back he says "2-3 days" which is BS.. it shouldn't take that long when you cancel within seconds like I did. He says "I don't know what to tell you, call your bank and talk to them" I laughed and said "I'll do that but if it's not fixed I'll call back tomorrow and he said "whatever, bye" and hung up. AND it's stuff like this that makes me less and less sad that this place will probably be gone in the next couple years. read more

The cashier was rude clearly there was an issue with the chip reader. Did she help no,eventually I got it to work. Then my friend was shopping for makeup and trying it on. She came over dusting and following her. She was so distraught she left the store. This is why I enjoy the kenwood location they treat all paying customers equally. Meanwhile a bunch of teenagers came in and were allowed to shop in peace. Sad way to treat customers,talk about uncomfortable. However the young cashier when I made another purchase was very nice and her reader worked fine. Maybe it's just the makeup section that is ran poorly. read more

I was called the day after this incident by the salon supervisor, Ann. She offered to perform for free the initial hair services I wanted at a convenient time for me. I was very impressed and said that she didn't have to do that, but she insisted. Everything went as well when I got there as they did badly two days before. Not only was Ann great, but Denise came over personally & very sincerely apologized, and Ann said that Charles felt terribly about what happened, as well. Boy! I was seriously impressed and vowed to go back. And I will :-) ! It sure is nice that they cared so much and went the extra mile to ensure good service. I don't know how many other businesses would have done all that, despite having lost a customer. So thank you very much, Ann, Denise, and Charles :-) !! read more

The Portrait studio is horrible! No professionalism at all! They missed a ton of great shots messing with the computer. I will NEVER go back! The money spent was a waste! They even messed up on the printing because all she cared about is what she thought looked good, did not listen at all when trying to pick out my prints, I was paying for! Then when I received my prints they were all wrong, and nothing what I had ordered! The worst photographer I have ever had! For the money spent, go to picture people, they do an amazing job! These photographers here are horrible and very over confident, for the job they do. So over all don't waste your money going here! THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!! The worst in town!! read more

The worker here discriminated againsted my friend because he was not handicapped enough. I guess after having 9 back surgeries neck surgery brain surgery and full hip replacement before the age of 35 isn't enough to be considered handicapped. read more

This is not a review of JC Penny but one about the Sephora located inside. Got a gift set of sample cologne that you could try and then take the one in that you liked most and redeem for a bottle. Went to the Sephora in JC Penney and was told that you couldn't redeem there and had to go to a main store. Went over to the main store in Kenwood Mall only to be told that they don't carry Prada men's cologne at the location and I would have to go to the location inside JC Penny to redeem. Wtf! Is this the same company or different all together. Why would you ever have a guest leave one location to go clear across town to another. This is ridiculous and there needs to be some clarity amongst employees. I ended up getting the 1.3 YSL instead of the 1.7 bottle of Prada that I truly loved all because I had no other options. My wife shops with Sephora all the time and we usually have good experiences but this has made us never want to spend money with them again. read more
