I came into your store today to buy a necklace for my girlfriend, but instead of being welcomed as a paying customer, I was treated with disrespect. When I asked a simple question, the associate in glasses and a black dress thing pointed me toward cubic zirconia in a dismissive way. It was clear from her attitude that she made assumptions about me based on how I look, not on my intentions as a customer. I sat by the cases for over 30 minutes and no one offered assistance. I came prepared to spend money, but I was made to feel that my business didn't matter. All money is green -- and every customer deserves equal treatment, regardless of race or appearance. This experience was not only unprofessional but discriminatory, and I hope it is addressed immediately. 10/3 1:15pm disgusting. read more

It's great to see this store up and running still, followed by the other closet in Danbury, in terms of the Hudson Valley. Well maintained on the sales floor with no issues to me with recovery, well cleaned and stocked. Retail doesn't seem to be the same as it use to be, as not too many sales associates are on the floor, and finding assistance can be a side hassle. I was happy to see one employee ask how we were doing and need any help, and said no thank you. Things could be improved slightly, but anything for great manners goes a long way. JCP should be renamed CCP because 99.9% of their products are made by Uighur slaves in concentration camps in China. And beware of their mattresses - they are not NEW, they are refurbished. Who knows who died in them before they added formaldehyde to 'clean' them out. I know. I purchased a Sealy mattress on sale from them that flattened in 1 week and the odor nearly killed my kitten causing feline asthma. I sued in court and won $3,000. Yet, getting that $3,000 from JCP is just like getting my tax dollars back from the Ukraine before they're money laundered and brought back to the US spanking new to a select elite - and that ain't us! Just keep away from JCP-CCP and I guarantee you'll have a better quality of life. read more

There's a disgruntled old lady that works in the children's department that is absolutely miserable and gives horrible customer service. I observed her even telling a single dad buying clothes for his toddler daughter that he couldn't take her to the dressing room..other than myself and my wife there were no other customers. I'm not sure who this lady reports to..but I do see a lawsuit coming in the near future..Especially if this is a representation of JC Penny... read more

Eh, unfortunately I think JCPenney is on it's way out. I was here for some Christmas shopping. Super busy because of the date (December 22nd), and the checkout lines were long. I've never cared for how they've set up their registers. Terrible flow with lines in the shopping aisles, meaning it's near impossible to get past folks when the store is busy. This has to be a fire hazard. Anyhoo, the usual department store stuff, good sales because of the season, but not much choice on sizes and styles due to lack of stock. Again, I understand it's a few days before Christmas, but sales are lost when you don't have the right sizes out to buy and Lord knows JCP needs the sales. read more

I went to jC Penney to get a suit for my 22 year old son, for an interview. I went a year ago to to do the same. I was so fortunate to have James help me help my son.'s suit etc. He chose the right sizes, picked a youthful suit, shirt belt, that would make him look great and feel good for his interview. It's what shopping should be. To have a knowledgeable salesperson, who made the experience , pleasurable and quick was fantastic. I was happy to see James, both times. Bravo and thank you. read more

The hair dresser gave my son the worst hair cut ever as you can clearly see in the photos. Not to mention the lady was eating sardines while doing his hair and she was licking her fingers and touching my kids hair. Another red flag was she stopped mid hair cut to cut her toe tails because they were "itchy" so then she finished and she made me pay $65 and wouldn't give me a refund. read more

Horrible service, I ordered a mattress that was suppose to be delivered feb 23. After 5 calls to both jcpenney and Ryder delivery and hours on the phone, I was told yesterday, a month later they would call to schedule for March 24th, it's 4pm still no call March 23rd. Some of the agents were ok, but Jennifer at JCP cust service and Sarah at Ryder acted like they could care less...very disappointed and will not be using them again and will cancel my card once I pay off the mattress purchase, if and when I finally get it. read more

I ordered a coat online and picked it up at this store. I decided to open up the bag while at the store to ensure that the coat was the right size and in good condition....it was not. It had a defect on it, a long white line along the length of the coat. I showed Tyler, the employee that was helping me, and asked him if they had any other coats like that. He checked the computer and told me that there were two left in the store. I thought he would either get one for me or at least show me where they were but he did not. I asked for directions to where I could find them since I had never been to that JCPenneys. He gave me directions and I asked him if he could hold on to the coat while I go find a replacement. He told me he could not because he didn't want to be responsible for it. I explained that I had only been there for five minutes and there is an obvious defect and asked again if he could just hold it so I can find one to do an exact change. Again he said no so I asked the manager who obliged me. When I returned he said he had to return the coat I already purchased and then charge me for the new one. I asked why he couldn't do it as a simple exchange because it was an exact exchange. He said no but it wasn't the no it was the entire interaction. Tyler needs to learn to deal with customers in a professional matter and not be so condescending and arrogant when he deals with customers. read more

I have never experienced such horrible and slow customer service as I did at the jewelry counter at the Middletown, Penney's. Stopped on my way into the mall to exchange a ring, One associate and at least 3 groups of people waiting. I went into the mall, did some other shopping and went back to Penney's. Still just one associate helping one customer, so I waited ( and that was all I did) after half an hour she goes and helps a customer that just walked up. Now I know the polite customer would have said she was here first, but the associate knew I was waiting. And just to add to the frustration the store manager walked by telling everyone "she will be right with you" what happened to helping us yourself. Never again, I will do my exchange at another Penney's and in the future take my business somewhere else. read more
