After brick and mortar Dress Barn closed I freaked, I had been shopping for work clothes there ever since Fashion Bug disbanded. Fortunately I went to JCPenney at the Loop and all was well again! Their sales and rewards help to stretch a dollar, and I always get compliments on how I look. Sadly, my son and I recently went to a funeral home when I lost my soul mate, and I got compliments on my black dress. Belts really dress things up too, so I have to hit up belts next with my Cash Pass. The only area of opportunity is they use Synchrony for their credit card and they have awful customer service off shore, I wish they used Chase or anyone else. We came here to get our Christmas pics done, and let me say I'm so glad we went through with this! The staff was so helpful and very patient with us especially that we had the baby with us (fur baby). I'd definitely come here again in the future for photo shoots! Pet tips: it doesn't say on the website or maybe it does and I missed it but when booking with pets you do have to book the last session for the day. You can always call and confirm this or set up the appointment and if they need to push it back they will. (Which is what they did with me.) honestly the experience was great and being last actually gives you a bit more time. So in my opinion it was worth it. read more

We had to wait over an hour after our scheduled appointment time for our portrait session. We booked through the JCP website but had separately purchased a Groupon. When it came time to purchase photos, we presented the Groupon and they essentially told us we couldn't use it because it wouldn't work with the amount of digital downloads we wanted. Buyer beware, I guess. The Groupon is only worth it if you want to only keep one digital photo and not the entire photoshoot. Additionally, for ~15 minutes worth of photos, and ~15 digital photos WITH THE GROUPON (which included the free photoshoot session), we still spent about $150 which is absolutely insane in my opinion. I have fond memories of my youth shopping at JcPenney and my has it changed since those days. I love the spaciousness of the store and the brightness. I love how it has a Sephora right when you walk in, one of my favorite cosmetic stores. They also have great sale prices. This is where the love fest ends however. Despite the spacious aisles and the cleanliness of the stores the difficulty in finding an employee to assist you on the sales floor is nearly impossible 90% of the time and then when it comes time to check out the lines to check out are ridiculous with only one bank of registers at the front of the store and usually only 2 or 3 cashiers. Efficiency isn't there strong suit. IF they could improve these things shopping would be a much more enjoyable experience and I may find myself visint more often instead of just dropping in to check into Shopkicks for my points. I have purchased several orders from JCP, but they use Synchrony Credit, and it is the absolute WORST! Discount Tire and also Lowes use Synchrony, and I have bought tires and equipment from these, but they always have issues and seem to never send updated info or even a new card when it is needed to make a payment! I have closed each account, and had no issues after this, but using your usual card might be the easiest and best way... you may lose the discounts JCP and even Synchrony say they sponsor for Lowes or Discount, but the time spent on the phone and in getting the info you need (like a new account number!) is way too much! Several gals were far less than helpful and didn't speak good English, and this was way too much! Just letting you know... your time is worth a lot these days! read more

I waisted over 10min waiting in a massive line blocking the front doors, two employees walked by me and even said hi and didn't bother telling me I was in the wrong line. This is your average JC Penney department store, although this one is somewhat unique in that it is a standalone store. This location seems to be well kept and either a newer or recently remodeled store. JC Penney as a whole is a relatively reasonably priced department store. They do not carry as many name brands as a Macy's and other department stores. They do tend to have good sales and special promotions regularly. This store is easy to get in and out of quickly, which is nice. read more

I went to the Hair salon for coupon deal $20 blow dry. The lady in front looks at coupon and say "this is coupon is for jr designer there are only senior designers here today" I say the coupon says a senior designers is included. She goes back and speaks to someone and he comes out and says I will take you. Let me get the chair ready. The First Lady says it is going to be 10 more for the length of your hair. I say it doesn't say anything about the length on the coupon. She says sorry but it's 10 more. I leave to go find a manager . I find one and she calls another manager and they say the salon has to do my hair for 20. The manager says come with me I will go with you and tell them . We are walking back to the salon and I tell her I am nervous going back they can mess up my hair she says to be safe don't get a hair cut lol. We get to the salon and they look at me. The manager tells them they havE to do my hair doe $20. The lady says you have to give me your name so I can put your name in the system. They way they were looking at me. I said I changed my mind and ran out of there with my hair intact. I didn't want to take the chance they do something to my hair. To top it off the the place was EMPTY. No one on the salon!!!! They are advertising the salon all over JC Penny. I know why now. No one goes there or returns with that type of service!!! read more

It's sad that such a long standing brick and mortar store can have such terrible customer service. With the exception of the gentleman greeting and cleaning the entry/exit of the store, everyone I came across was unpleasant and rude. The LOD at the time of my visit especially warrants this review. Staff pooled around together chatting and discussing ongoing customer situations right in front of them felt uncomfortable to say the least. Super disappointed and ultimately not surprised. Don't waste your time as there are several department stores that offer far more quality and service. read more

When my regular hair place was closed I looked on my phone for a nearby place to get my hair cut and was excited to see they had a salon. I got to the counter at 7:54 pm and asked for a haircut. The lady said they close at 9 and since it was 'after 8' they don't take any more customers. Again I explained I wanted a simple men's haircut which should take 15-20 minutes but she dug her heels in going further to say they they actually "stop taking people at 7 to 7:30. " I noticed they had no customers so I asked why are you here? Why not just leave? If you have no customers and you clearly aren't taking more then just leave and turn off the lights. I just turned around and left baffled. Again, the store was 'open' for over an hour still. There was a sign outside the store that advertised the salon and said "walk-ins welcome" which I found humorous. read more

The Salvation Army volunteer working the front door has the best customer service in this place, and I told him so! All the employees here should take note! I'm re writing my previous review that wasn't very good either but this was the final straw! While standing waiting at the jewelry counter to pay for my one jewelry item the employee was doing something at the register so I politely waited. She finished and started walking away I said 'Can I pay for this here?' Her response 'I'm on break' I pointed out that I had been standing there waiting she pointed out that even they get to eat sometimes...I said thank you and walked away shaking my head. Hooray for JC Penney's All Florida residents lamented the loss of the back to school tax free weekend. Oh, the tears! However, JC Penney's has brought it back at their stores for a whole week! And they have a big sale to go with it! The Good: Get your cookware: I was able to get a decent food processor and George Foreman Grill for $40.01. AWESOME! And cheaper than Target and Wal-Mart! Clothes on sale!: Clothes were also on sale, and had major department brands for cheap prices. Think tops for less than 10 and bottoms for less than 20. The Bad: Department store drab: If you're looking for cutting edge high-fashion styles, you won't find it here. Clothes here are good for business and school, and not so much for a night out. JC Penney's is a great store, and the fact that they unofficially reinstated the tax free holiday is awesome! Overall 8.7/10= Taxes Suck! read more

Dissatisfied with the quality of merchandise, no salesperson available to help and misleading on discounts. Plus if you are a day late with your payment they charge a whopping $37 late charge. That's because they gave it to a bank to collect who calls you every day to harass you. I haven't missed a month's payment although been a week or two late I admit, due to financial problems. Will pay it off as soon as possible and close my credit card account!!! read more

POOR PORTRAIT STUDIO EXPERIENCE!!!! I am aware that the portrait sudio may run behind on appointments especially with babies. I have seen upwards of almost 2 hours at times. Here is the problem... If your employee calls me 1/2 hour before my appointment to confirm my 1:15 appointment time, why wouldnt your employee also say we are running an hour behind (which it was not!!) There were 3 families with babies ahead so 2.5 -3 hours behind. Simply say something when you make the call instead of that foolish mindset to have people stuck there with babies who become frustraded then do not want to photograph! Poor management skills. 61/100 in 2016 challenge Penney's is really starting to come back. The store is always packed when I go there.They have a long way to go to be a 5 star though. Parking lot is small. It shares a parking lot with party city. They having pretty good deals here. Everything is always 15-25% off. What I don't like is, they charge an inflated price to give the percent off. The store racks are usually picked through and not reorganized. They have ample selections here. I was looking for a gala dress for my daughter. Good selection of different choices but felt some were not dress enough. Not a lot of sales help around the store. Fitting rooms are never straightened out. Never enough registers open. Lines at check out were insane. Store set up does not seem to flow properly. At least to my liking. Personnel when you can find someone have always nice pleasant. They do have a nice dress clothes section. Now, this is an improvement from where it was. I think with a few more improvements such as adding more personnel to help customers on the floor and opening more registers they would increase their rating for sure. Finally there was one lady who walked us to exactly where we needed to be & helped us look for what we needed. Unfortunately I did not get her name but she helped a lot! I just happened to come in to JC penny on a day they were having a Door Buster sale and at the time had no intentions of spending any money. At first I find a tie I like and My son in law was looking a vest. Door Buster sale- %60 off all suits and slacks. Well I had not bought a suit in over 10 years and was due one. Not that I wear a suit often but there is a rare occasion that one is needed. I got both Jacket and Slacks for $120 which is a great deal. The sales clerk did everything she could to find my odd short size of 44 short even going in the back and calling other stores. We luckily finally found my size and it was perfect. Went to have my hair cut 12/3/15. Was very specific on how I want my hair cut. I am disabled, wear glasses and have a Service Dog. Been to this location without a problem. The salon person advised me my hair would grow back in two (2) weeks. Now, I look like a man with hardly any hair on my head. With the Holidays here, this a nightmare. Tried calling the store for the salon manager. She was never available. Needed to contact the store manager for some help - this did NO good. Eventually, I will receive a refund, but I need to go into the store to receive this, they also offered a 'free' service. Gee, I don't have any hair, what could you do? The new salon manager has magically gone on vacation! Won't be going back to this place. Why should I, I'll be practically bald for the next four (4) months. read more

Very misleading when it comes to their markdown and sales. A lot of the clothing was misplaced throughout the store falsely advertised on sale but not marked down. Be careful when shopping there.
