This is a new remodel of a classic store. The new sign and updated carts with drink holders is a nice update. The whole store is very bright with better lighting. The layout is easy to follow. I hope this update comes to our mall back in Florida. read more

Being a disabled person, it is very difficult to navigate around the store. They have put all of the check out together at one spot and of course I don't have any handicap carts or anything. I have not been in the store for several years because I just can't get around in there. I'm wondering when Dept stores are going to catch up and start taking care of those who can't shop because they can't walk well. I had to return some shoes that I ordered online because they carry such a limited supply of everything. Then I will try to get to the shoe department to see if I can find something that did fit that I liked and I could not initially I finally found a pair just like what I returned in the size that fit me better and guess what they would not give me the sale price that I paid online. The cost is gonna be almost double! So I left the shoes there and I will just be barefoot before I will order shoes from them again! The shoes are easy spirits and I don't know if it's easy spirit that's got the problem or who but the sizes do not jive. For instance, I need a 9 1/2 wide. But the ones I bought online fit like a size 12 extra extra wide. So I returned them and I tried on a 10 medium because I wanted to compare that to what I just returned in the 9 1/2. The 10 fit me real nicely so then I said well there's a 9 1/2 medium and they were too big. I don't know if they've got a drunk just slapping on sizes or what but I'm going to easy spirit next and leave them a review. The other thing I noticed is that pennies has some really pretty dresses but they're made out of some kind of weird material that has no give. It feels soft but when you put it on, you're not gonna be able to move your arms very well unless it's too big for you. and they're not cheap either. I don't know if they just run out of Lycra or what. I wanted to buy a purse, but shopping in this place is just not fun anymore. I left empty-handed. They are carrying the minimalist fad too far. Meh. They get three stars because the selection was spot on! I found exactly what I needed immediately and there was a great variety of formal dresses too. However, EVERY SINGLE fitting room was closed/blocked off! How do they expect me to spend that kind of money without trying it on first? So what did I do, try it on in middle of the aisle. Bright. Welcoming. Stylish. These are all words I would use to describe the redesign of this Penney's location. What was once a drab, tired, dirty store us now seriously on-trend, with a fabulous coffee shop/cafe, a completely new layout, a concierge desk, helpful, friendly staff, and the best men's department I've seen at any store, ever. There are even little seating nooks to rest your tired feet and charge your phone! Even the merchandise on display appears to have been upgraded to quality pieces for reasonable prices, instead of the more "bargain bin" looks of yester-year. This Penney's is now my go-to spot for shopping, coffee, and I even plan to try their revamped salon! Do yourself a favor and pop in for some serious shopping time. My one small complaint is the restrooms. There are only 3 stalls in the only restroom in the store! This is going to cause serious issues during the holiday rush. Put in another restroom, please! Edited to add: the plus sizes are now incorporated with the rest of the women's clothing. This is something I have seen at other retailers, most notably Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. While it does make it a little more time consuming to find plus size items, it is also nice to not be relegated to some dusty, dank corner of the store as though the store is ashamed to sell plus size items. read more

Came here today after speaking to Amy yesterday and not only did she remember me, but she made me feel just as welcome. Since Amy was busy with another customer, so Pedro ended up helping me. Pedro was just as kind and so funny as well. I loved that he really took the time to ask me questions and find products that I needed and were affordable. I really felt appreciated and wanted. I ended up buying one of the Fendy foundations by Rihana, a brown filler, and a bronzer. With my coupon and my gift card I only paid $40 and will not need anything for a while, so I feel like I got a great deal! As I am JC Penney cardholder, I'd say it's high time I post a review and answer all of your burning questions about this crown jewel store in the JCP Family. Does it really have a coffee bar? YES Does it have a barbery? YES Does it have a shoe shine spot? YES Is it the same clothing as any other JCP store? YES It's no secret that retail stores, are sadly, dying. I often find myself hoping against hope that JCP stays in business (for reasons I will disclose directly). Seemingly, this is a last gasp by JCP to revamp a concept and keep hope alive. First off, this store is quite handsome. Internally and externally - incredible. It stands out as undeniably massive looking amidst cookie cutter stores in a mall that is laid out so oddly. As you walk you get the feeling that you are in a mall all your own. There is a coffee shop where you can get craft coffee drinks. I have yet to try. There is a really nuevo retro barber shop that catches the eye. Even this guy, with the same hairapist for 14 years peeks in. You can consult a clothing stylist and they will fit you with outfits to your liking after measuring you. You wait, they assemble. This is so handy for those that struggle coordinating. The reason I love JCP is for the J.Ferrar brand suits. Being a guy that loves suits, and wears a slim fit, a 36 Jacket and a pair of pants that is 29/29 generally does not even need to be tailored for me. While Stafford, Michael Strahan and others offered here present with classic and relaxed fits (that most prefer) l, J.Ferrar is perfectly stylish and fits me perfectly, at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the casual clothing is still the same brands - floating somewhere between TJ Max and the IZOD outlet store, which leave a lot to be desired. I feel that those that wish to shop at this location would pay for the brands that Macy's or Dillard's carries. Perhaps the concept of the new model is half baked. Elevate the look, AND the selection. People will likely follow. read more

We love this JCPenney. It's the absolute best one around. It's nice, newly remodeled, very clean, and roomy. It could be a little better stocked with merchandise, but we had some good luck shopping there yesterday. Unfortunately, the restroom downstairs was horrible. It was filthy and really smelled. I have to admit, I was really shocked to find the restroom there in such awful condition. Still, I definitely recommend this JCPenney, and the entire Northeast Mall. read more

OMG! The new Penneys is Fabulous! It's like Saks Fifth Ave. and Neiman Marcus ! I am do impressed! This is they model store, all the others will follow soon . I hope ! JCP has really attempted to step up the game in getting customers off online and back into the store. The first thing you notice about this new look store is how open clean & bright everything is. It has moved away from the drab soft lighting. Next, all the helpers, everywhere, granted it is holiday season but it just seems like they are all so eager to help plus smiling that is big bonus. Then comes all the added new stuff, a little bistro for coffee or snack lunch, demo cooking area, need to stretch how about a pilates class if that isn't enough you can get your picture took at new photo studio powered by shutterfly. That doesn't even begin to cover the added features to dressing rooms with the coolest mirrors ever, but for that you will just need to go check out yourself. The lower prices was another big bonus trust me. I have a growing preteen so we shop on budget cause she out grows it within 3-4 months so I know something about lower prices & budgets. So i've shopped here for years. Its like a running joke to my girlfriends: "That's so cute! Where did you... JC Penny". And they finish their own sentences. No one ever thinks to go in here anymore because its a department store thats been around for ages, and everyone mostly thinks its for old ladies. But they have super trendy looks, for really great prices, and sales on top of that. Yesterday I bought a wide brimmed felt hat just like you see on all the celebrities and was in people magazine for style watch for $12 bucks, marked down from $30! They also have great clearance sections. This place is always clean and the main garment racks are well kept... clearance aisles are a different story. Customer service can be hit or miss. Sometimes on the weekdays its kind of slow service, on the weekends when they are at their busiest though they have all of their registers filled with employees. I'll continue to go here and shop regularly, and just steer clear of Sundays. read more

The new Penny's design is Fabulous and functional. There is a very modern/classic vibe in the store now. They have also installed an information desk which is centrally located and very convenient. I ordered some handkerchiefs for a Christmas present. I ordered them a few months back starting my shopping season. I just opened them, no doubt my bad, but they were a polyester blend and not 100 percent cotton like I ordered and paid for. Of course they won't let me return them because I ordered them a few months ago. I bought a purse online JCPenney. I went to pick it up at Hurst JCPenney. The purse was smaller than the picture online. I immediately turned around to return the purse telling customer service I'm returning because it's too small. They had to have their manager come out to say I couldn't return the purse. I said why as I I didn't use the purse and unable to use it. She said some things can't be returned. I said where does it say that online things can't be returned. She finally complied and returned my money. I bought a better purse in the store. I looked online and it did not say anything about handbags. I think their staff needs to verify stuff to avoid ignorance. I won't purchase anything online again at JCPenney Hurst mall. I like Alliance JC Penney better. The billing dept is charging me late fees on their card that I pay on time every month. They're saying for the month of October my monthly payment went up to $53 just for that month? My monthly payment is $42 and I pay $50 and they increased to $53 causing my account to apply this crazy $$ amount late fee that customer service couldn't explain why? Spoke to another service rep with again no explanation the reason for just October monthly payment amount increase? my statement for November doesn't specify any increase for October and no late fees, but received the text of late fees? I am a cardholder. Was sent an email about glasses (including progressives) being $88.88 + 8% off for inflation, so I thought I'd check it out. Firstly, the store was extremely hot-no A/C. An employee told me it out and they were told they could bring fans. Secondly, I was advised out of the gate that it was only for frames under $100, and if I picked anything above that it would be at my cost. There were no frames out under $119.00-which I thought was very wrong. I picked the cheapest one I could that looked nice. Then the salesperson asked me if I just wanted a price check, wait, what?!? That should have told me to run, but I said okay. The salesperson quoted me $164 and change. I said excuse me, but I stated I wanted the $88.88 special. She proceeds to check and says-oh well if I change it to plastic lenses that drops it down to $104 and change. Excuse me? Plastic? This is why your store is failing-bait and switch, no A/C, and the shelves were bare. Perhaps this company has realized that if they do not restock they have less to clean out when they finally do close. Very sad for the employees, but this USED to be a good place to shop. Came here to return a pair of jeans I had bought my dad a little before Christmas and I had lost the tags and wasn't sure if they were going to return it or not. We had gone up to customer service and the 1st girl that took care of us told us we can do an even exchange but we couldn't get credit bc we didn't have the tags so we went to find the pair of jeans and came back to customer service and young kid helped us out. I didn't catch his name he had a class ring that was silver with a tanzanite stone and was able to get the pair of jeans exchanged with no problem he was able to look it up and find that we did purchase them. He went above and beyond for us, very sweet kid. Everyone there was very nice and the store was very clean to. read more

I am so impressed with how they've redone this store. My sister in law and I have come here shopping with our newborn sons twice, and each time everyone there has taken such great care of us. There is a family room with a Changing table and rocking chair. The coffee cafe upstairs is a great place to just hang out and rest, and the baristas are so friendly! One today gave us coffee on the house. It was such a sweet gesture. We will definitely be coming here again! read more

Bleh... what a mess this place was on Black Friday (around 10 AM). So, I went to North East Mall to get a Sears gift card, but due to the traffic in the parking area I went ahead and used the JCPenney parking garage to gain access into the mall. I realize that I wasn't going at the optimal time for seeing how their service is normally (which I would probably give a 3 star rating for anyhow), but apparently after visiting Sears it was a fantastic way to compare how the management handled things when busy. First of all, the escalator to go downstairs was broken and closed off. North East Mall is a one story mall and I had parked on the second level of the parking garage. So guess what the alternative was... yep the elevator. It's Black Friday, the store is packed and the only way downstairs (within the store) is the elevator. I don't know the condition of the escalator at the time (it looked fine to me to use as a staircase), but standing in line to pack into a elevator (even though this is a larger sized elevator) was about as fun as you could imagine. But like I said, I didn't know the state of the escalator at the time, and this was surely a unfortunate coincidence for the store at the time. The real reason why I give this JCPenney a 2 star rating is the store itself and how it compared to Sears (that I went to as well) during basically the same time of day. Wow, it was night and day. JCPenney was wrecked. A lot of stuff at JCPenney was out of place, shelves had piles of discarded clothing, and the lines were out of control -as in people crowding up walking areas-, plus there was no floor representatives to be seen -unless you count the ones walking through the elevator line and taking off to the back area access-. Sears on the other hand was just about as busy, but the lines were under much better control (and out of the way of the walking areas), the store looked well considering the crowds, and we were greeted by floor staff in almost every department. Of course, you can always argue that JCPenney is a much more popular store then Sears and that's why it was in as bad of shape as it was (and I could see your point). But there were certain parts of the store that were just looked forgotten about and horrendous (especially by the dressing areas and elevator). read more

I should have written this out awhile ago. Every single time I go to the Northeast Mall location, I receive zero or very little customer service. No one speaks and if they do it's rude. I went in today and was shopping and needed to use the restroom . I wasn't in there 5 minutes and an employee came in and knocked on the door to thestall and said "I have to take a shit".Do you train all your employees to do that? Also the Latin employee from Sephora was standing near the elevators giggling as I exited the restroom. I won't be returning and will spread the word for anyone else not to come in. This is ridiculous to treat customers that way. Absolutely horrible . I wish I would have gotten a name but the employee knocking on the restroom stall door was about 5'4" and dark hair and mustache. The Sephora guy was tall and latin. I am so angry right now that I just want to scream. Worthless employees, customer service and store ! read more

I haven't been to Penney's in years. I dont even think about it when looking for items. That has changed! My grandsons were in need of some winter gear fast. Penney's popped up when searching online and had sizes I needed for coats in stock. Selection was great and prices were better. We decided to go inside instead of utilizing curbside pickup service for our online purchase......glad we did. Everything looks fresh, clean, more modern. Staff was great. I made additional purchases and they even accepted my online purchase code for an instore purchase. This revamp is on track....unlike the previous tired attempts. This review is for the optical department, and specifically the manager Spring. DO NOT EVER let your elderly parent go here for glasses. They are unprofessional, don't know how to measure correctly for glasses, don't communicate their return policy and refuse to refund someone because it was supposedly 6 days later instead of 24 hours. They will take advantage of the elderly and then threaten that they will ruin your credit if you don't pay, even though they are in possession of the glasses. My account that I have had with Penney's for over 30 years is getting cut into small pieces and thrown away. I will never step foot in this store again. read more

Pretty surprised by all the bad reviews for this store. This location has come a long way - it has been totally remodeled and is one of the bigger JCP in the area. It has two floors with the men's & women's clothing - PLUS a Sephora! - downstairs and the home items (including furniture and mattresses) and children's clothes upstairs. The store looks brighter and more modern after it's remodel and the selection here is really good, too. My review is primarily based on my experience with the Home goods section -- more specifically, the window treatment area. I was in search of some very long curtain rods to cover an entire wall of windows, but I couldn't find rods long enough to meet my needs. I searched high and low and even online, but could not find what I was looking for. I remembered that JCP sells custom window treatments and I went in yesterday afternoon. That is where I met Mattie Hill, a wonderful sales associate who works in the window treatments department. She was so helpful and patient with me as I spent about 2.5 hours looking at all of the options in their catalog and then designed the look with her to outfit windows for three rooms in my home. She provided some excellent feedback and was so sweet during the process. I was really impressed with her professionalism and I am thankful for everything she did to help me. My order should be in in about 2 weeks and I am excited to receive it! :) read more

Love this place!!! Always friendly people and the stores well lit and always clean. Unless some nasty customers in there tearing things up because they don't know how to act right in public. Staff is always working hard and always there if I need to find something or ask questions. Sephora is always fun to go in and find goodies for friends and family too! This review is for the salon. I printed a coupon off the jcpenney website to use at this salon which consistent of getting my eyebrows waxed, a blowout and a deep conditioning treatment, all for 25.00. I have never been to this salon before so the real reason I went here in the first place was because of the coupon. The salon itself is tucked away in the rear of the jcpenney store. If your not familiar with the store it can be tricky to find. The salon is pretty good sized with lots of wash bowls, chairs, a waxing room etc. The clientele of people seems to be a lot of older ladies. My stylist was friendly, but seemed nervous around me like she didn't want to screw something up, didn't seem confident in herself when doing my eyebrows, I asked her a series of questions and really never could get a straight answer. Lastly I asked my stylist if she knew how to french braid and her response was "I don't get that request often" umm that's not what I asked, I asked if you knew HOW. I guess she didn't because I walked out with some type of waterfall braid :/ I won't be back, I ll stick with smart styles in the Walmart s. read more

No customer service. I went in to buy 3 ties for my wedding and ended up waiting in line for 30 minutes. Check out #1 had one checker and 3 ladies checking out separately asking for a price check on every item since they were doing a $3 sale. Register #2 had one checker with a line down the asle. Register #3 had one checker with two ladies checking out but one lady would go pick up more clothes while the other stood in line. When I asked if there was another cashier I was told yes but she was busy. The other cashier (glenda which when I dealt with before coughed all over me and my purchase when she was sick) was hanging clothes and chatting with another sales associate. I watched this go on for 10 minutes until sure finally came over and helped the other cashier that was still dealing with the first customer. Note to your staff that of three is a line then call for help and don't just stand there. I have bought from pennys for along time but after this doubtful I will be coming back as often. Dillard is more expensive but at least they ask of you need assistance and will check you out. I will be contacting the corporate offices and management about the sales associate I dealt with. read more

I would give less than a star if I could.......I had my hair done here back in November and I could seriously cry because 6 months later my hair is STILL ruined. My hair has always grown slow and been fine but I have always had a lot of it. It's never been thin. I went in for highlights because my normal hair dresser was booked and we had a wedding the next day and I so wish I stayed away from this place. First, it took the lady FOUR hours to do my hair...FOUR! The entire four hours all she did was trash my hair dresser who I have been to for years and years and felt guilty for even seeing somebody else. She has always made my hair look gorgeous and NEVER has damaged it. My highlights come out perfectly platinum blonde and flawless. I felt it was first off totally unprofessional to trash another stylist. If you are a good stylist you dont need to steal your clients from others or bad mouth somebody to persuade them to come to you. It did not impress me in the least. It annoyed me!!!!! Four hours of the lady's mouth was just TOO much! I could tell when she checked on me under the dryer she had made a mistake but I tried not to cry yet. Sure enough she then takes me shampoo and says "It may not be the blonde you wanted but I felt I should make it a tad darker to be more natural." First off, I was VERRRRRY specific that my hair HAD to be platinum....I hate yellow!!!!!! Second, is it her choice what she does to MY hair??? NO!!!!!!!!! You do not EVER do something other than what somebody asked for then tell them after. However, I dont believe that's what she did. I believe she messed it up beyond fixing it and didn't know what else to say so she said that. She then proceeded to dump toner on my hair. Lots of it!!!! She said it "was just because she bleached it and its harsh on your hair." Now, I've been having my hair highlighted the same way for about 7 years....I know what toner is, I know I never need it and I know what it's for. It destroyed my hair and the reason she put it on was because she already fried my hair and made it yellow. When she got done I just wanted to cry. I have included pictures of my hair as it usually looks and after she did this....and this is after 6 months of repairing! It is breaking off EVERYWHERE so badly that I can't get any length. It keeps getting shorter and shorter and I am so worriedI have not gained a single 1/2 inch of length in six months because my hair breaks off everywhere. It's got some strands shorter than 3 inches in the back :(. I have invested in so many repair products and bought five moer today just praying it won't break anymore. Cutting it isn't even an option at this point as I dont want to look like a boy and the worst part is....I'm getting married in 4 weeks! I curse this salon every day and regret ever coming in here. I have never heard good things and went in here anyway and that was a big mistake on my part. I strongly suggest you go to super cuts before you come here....the sad part is, several other stylist told this lady how GREAT my hair looked! Door buster sale sign stated $19.99 for Worthington shoes (regular price $55). Every shoe style underneath the sign in 2 different sections with the same advertised sign fulfilled the requirements for the sale EXCEPT the one pair I wanted. There were 4 pairs of the one I wanted. In that section, there were 5 variations of the same shoe, same brand, same color. All silver sparkle, Worthington shoes, ranging from a flat to sling back to peep toe to 2 variations of a close and open toe. Shoes rang up as $39. The shoe box said $60. The manager, Leonardo, would not budge on the price, even after showing him how misleading that was and how the shoes were almost identical to all the others on sale and for that price. This was not the only item I was trying to purchase. I think he should have met me in the middle. The shoes would have been for my wedding. I absolutely loved them, but ultimately Leonardo upset me so much with his attitude and the misleading sign...I will not be getting anything from JC Penny ever again. Andddd...I'm going to tell all my friends and post on social media about my terrible experience. So well done, Leonardo...should have just given me the shoes on sale. Maybe Macy's will hire you when JC Penny's goes out of business. read more

I ordered a pillow 13 days ago and was told delivery would be 4-7 business days. Not receiving it is one thing, but in attempting to call the store about it, I was told by a manager that they were unable to check location of order and to call back a few days later. As I'm writing this review, my call has been mishandled twice, hung up on once, and presently the phone call back to check orders has been ringing for over 8 minutes and I doubt anyone will ever answer! This store would be rated no stars if there was such a rating! I am understanding why Penny's has had trouble making it in business - they don't seem to have any sense of customer relations!
