The contents of my delivery were shattered due to improper packing (as in, nothing between 3 glass objects). Of course it was broken. I contacted them, it took almost a week for the first reply. Send pictures they eventually asked.. Which I did to no avail. No reply. There is a charge for handling which is what the packaging would come from. I think their packing needs some review to prevent this in the future. Until then, I don't recommend an online order from this facility.

I didn't realize how convenient that was until now. Looking for tea cups and china? Go to the white aisle. Do you collect antique green vases? Green aisle. Looking for cute pieces for your princess themed She-Shed? Pink aisle. Which is funny because I get irritated when they do that with the clothes because I would rather clothes be done by size and not color. Anyway, I digress. I LOVED the book section. I used to go to a used bookstore that charged half of the cover price but here it is just $1 for hardcovers, $.50 for paperbacks and kids books. And there were so many good things. I got vintage cookbooks (which I am a sucker for) and modern self help type ones. Kids hardback storybook... 50 cents! The retired librarian in me really wanted to organize their books but I am not going to fault them for something customers did. They had a large selection of furniture too.

As usual, there was a staff member eating/drinking at the counter. That must be the norm. I give her a pass because at least she spoke when I came in. She stopped what she was doing to handle my return & it didn't take much of my time. I went in for that one thing & was in/out in less than 10 mins, and I was the only customer in there. I just wish that they would eat/drink in the employee area and out of the customer's view. I just think that's unprofessional. Masks are required & distancing is suggested. The store was tidy & being cleaned as I walked in. I would go back if I had a return for sure.

The shelves are not as disorganized as I've seen other stores. As for staff: They have always been nice. My largest concern is the cleanliness of the restrooms. On my last visit, I had to use men's room and I have to say it was a bit rough. I know it's nasty customers who created the problem but management needs to get the corrected by whatever means necessary. I mean it had a piss smell and even boogers on the one in the one stall. Again customers are nasty, but some staff have to see this.

The "craft" section is mostly scattered crap. There is a substantial book section but most of it junk although a great source for children's books, crosswords etc. The holiday section had a lot to offer and they have quite the large selection of all things, rugs. There are also lots of household items and if you need Carhart or Dickies and you are patient enough the sift through the disarray, you just might find something for dirt cheap. Since the line was snaking around the registers with only one poor guy at the helm, I looked down at the three items in my cart, pondered standing in line for twenty minutes, and said "Nope!" I'm in no hurry to go back. I just wasn't overly impressed. Your mileage may vary.

I have shopped at Catos ( about 20 + years ) rotating between Chester and Colonial Heights , VA I love the clothes. It's my favorite place to go to. I prefer the Chester location because of the friendly environment. They are just so friendly and vibrant. You just want to stay in the store a few hours. They come and check on you and asking do you need help, or if your arms are full they ask to take your clothes up front I despise the Catos in Col Hgts. Sorry to put it on this review; I tried to give them their own but it wouldn't go through. They never speak or greet you in any way. I have been in to the store about 30 x last year and no one said one word, until I went to pay then two of them had the audacity to ask did I find everything I needed. Huuuuhhhh, what ? Why wasn't this address earlier by opening your mouth up and speaking. It is so rude. The customer service is 0. If you do not want to be around the public go get an in home job. Courtesy goes a long way. The clothes are fabulous. But, I am not going to buy from you and I am being ignored the whole time ; until I am ready to purchased. This is not my first review.
