I was in here Thanksgiving Weekend because sometimes I'm just an idiot. The parking lot was full, the foot traffic and shopper congestion inside was intolerable, but the staff worked the lines pretty quickly, managed to keep their collective cool all over the store, and somehow the merchandise was kept pretty well in order. I'll be this is a pretty nice place to shop on any other day of the year. read more

As with many JCPenneys in the region, this place has had a recent facelift, is sporting lots of fresh and on-trend clothing and the prices are better than ever. i have been falling more in love with JCPenney this year than I have in ages. This isn't the Penney's of my childhood - it's bordering on hip! This particular location houses the only in-store furniture department in Wisconsin (that I am aware of). Today I took a little trip to Brookfield to help my mom find a new couch for my parents' house. The furniture department saleslady was incredibly helpful and not pushy. She answered all our questions, was totally cool that we wanted to double check measurements, etc. and even gave us her card (not very common at a department store these days). Loved it. 4 stars for the great layout and fresh new products and a bonus for amazing and personal service! read more

JCPenney - Womenswear display 9/7/12 - Department Stores Near Me - Brookfield, Wisconsin

A recent trip here had me in awe. This store hasn't changed a bit since my mom used to take me on shopping trips here in the mid-90's. OK, that's not entirely true. They've done some updates, but a broken escalator quickly showed me the 'dark side' of JCP that clearly hadn't seen the light of day since, oh, about 1994. Still - the selection of clothes was decent. Surprisingly, it wasn't as good as the Menomonee Falls JCP, in my opinion. Overall, I prefer JCP to places such as Kohl's due to their better selection for women's clothes. I was able to score some nice Liz Claiborne dress slacks for 70% off, and a few dress sweaters for work. The one thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the forceful "suggesting" that I apply for a JCP card when it came time to check out. So, JCP is now adapting the ways of Kohl's, is that it? This woman, the only one working the register in the upstairs woman's department, quizzed me repeatedly about applying for a JCP credit card. I was starting to feel a little uncomfortable. She even held up a pair of dress slacks, proclaiming in her broken English "These fifty dollars!" - even after I kept shaking my head. I don't need the card. I don't want the card! Saying "NO" should suffice, and she should have dropped it. Finally, the 'dark side' I alluded to earlier in the review : The escalator was broken, so I had to take the grimy elevator back downstairs. First of all : hit that sucker with a mop, somebody please. Second of all, everything was brown and tan - very mid-70's, grimy, worn out. Not really the impression you'd like to leave a customer with, especially after dumping a lot of money into fancy upgrades in other areas of the store. Really, this is closer to a 2.5 for me. I tend to go more to JCP than Kohl's, so I hope this one stays around. read more

The prices here on items seem to change very often and it is difficult to even know how much things cost. Now all the price checkers are replaced with signs that tell you to download some ridiculous app on your phone to scan and check prices. I was going to buy some clothes here but I didn't since I wasn't able to decipher the secret price without loading an app on my phone or standing in line forever to have an employee scan it. read more

No stars would be 1 too many for this unbelievable horrible department store at Brookfield Square in Brookfield, but one can't post with out giving a star not deserved. STAY AWAY unless you like being treated like a thief or enjoy being ridiculed and abused. Upon an acquaintenance's recommendation to shop for insulated curtains I chose JC Pennys as it was close to my home. While in the store looking for insulated drapes, I was eventually helped by a knowledgeable salesperson and I ordered and charged 2 drapes on 10/13/18 to be delivered to the store. This is the very end of the only service I received and the only time I was treated like a human. The day I picked up the drapes at the JC Penny.com counter I came home to find only one of the 2 drapes ordered was in the package. I immediately called the store and spoke with 2 sales people, one who was a female who was very rude and accused me basically of losing the drape that wasn't in the sealed package. I asked for her Supervisor and spoke with a male by the name of Chris who questioned me on whether I dropped one, was I sure it wasn't in the package etc, as if I was not being truthful. I then asked for a manager to call me on Monday as this was a Saturday. (What ever happened to I'm sorry this happened. How can we make it right?) The following Tuesday I called the store again as I did not get a call on Monday as requested. I spoke with a Sara who was not a mgr. as "the manager was busy" and handed me off to Sara who stated I would need to come back to the store, park my car, come up the elevator and wait in line to re-order the drape that was missing from my package. She stated it is the store policy not to take a credit card over the phone to place another order for the missing drape. No exceptions. No apologies Tonight I finally parked the car and went into the store and up the elevator and waited in line to return the one drape that I ordered on Oct 13 as I was not about to do any further business with this store by attempting to buy the 2nd drape that I ordered on the first place. I spent a very long time at the counter with 2 clerks trying to figure out why they couldn't do the return. Approx 20 minutes later I asked for a manager and Demetra stated: " I am the store manager". She stated she could not do the return because I had already been credited for the return and that I should go home, check my credit card statement and come back if I didnt see the credit. I was absolutely dumbfounded that I could stand there with the receipt and drape in my hand and she tell me she didn't care what I did with the drape, but she was not taking it back as I had already returned it!!!!! I continued in dismay to ask her how this could possibly be the case I told her this was totally unbelievable and she bluntly turned away and said:"next in line" summoning the next victim into her return line. DEAD SERIOUS JC PENNY will go out of business and deserves to sooner rather than later. Never in my 65 years of life have I been treated more poorly from every person I encountered since the day I placed the order in person. These employees from the top down have no idea what it is like to smile, be courteous, be kind, offer an apology and treat their customers like they are valued. I will never step foot in another JC Penny store and will tell everyone I know to stay as far away as they can unless you they like abuse. read more

(Sephora inside JCP) They were out of an item in stock. They told me they could order it for me online and have it sent to my house instead. I was okay with this. They asked for my ID and without asking assumed that was my address. When they asked me if everything on screen was okay, I said "No I have moved since then, that is not my my address." They ask for my new address and I give it to them thinking everything is fine. Two days later I get an email saying it is being shipped to my old address since the person only changed my billing address but not the shipping address. This is a simple forgivable mistake; however when I called the JCP online services on the phone to resolve this... they basically said there was nothing that could be done. I asked for either the item to be changed to the correct address, or a refund. I was told the only thing i could do was "return the item." I cannot return an item i would never receive, for one. Also, I want the item...why would i return it? I further insist on the address being changed or a refund and he says that I have to call UPS myself for it, and that he would not do it for me. I spend a lot of time talking to UPS and being put on hold only to find out that I am unable to change it since it was ordered through JCP and that JCP has to change it. I have to call JCP AGAIN and finally someone helps me and says, "sure we can change the address for you, no problem." Why could that have not happened the first time I called? Why did I have to spend 45 min on my own time back and forth trying to fix YOUR mistake? Definitely not worth all the hassle of having to fight so hard for you to fix your own mistake. I never even received a simple apology either. read more

Jc penney towels are the best for the price. No fuzz. Absorb great. Good buy. Some towels have to be wash 5 times before use.

It's stuck in 1980.... where it belongs. The prices are ok, but you'll find the same stuff at Shopko, it's ugly cousin.

Never really liked the pricing on most of the clothes that they carried. Was able to get 4 basic mock shirts today ( same style but different colors ) on clearance for under $13. Now I can live that when your on a tight budget. Hopefully in a week or two i will be able to get more marked down items with a bigger discount. read more

Just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to your employee Aruna Kodgi for helping my boyfriend and I find the perfect mattress at the perfect price. We were both growing tired of the mattress buying process after weeks of researching in countless stores and online. The constant price differences and options were just so overwhelming. JCP had some amazing deals with quality brands so we decided to look. We were not disappointed- Aruna introduced herself and right away told us to take our time and gave us plenty of space but availability for questions. She never pressured us and explained all the discounts and inclusions up front. Great customer service! We walked away with near $2000 in savings and received a mattress, box spring, mattress protector, free delivery, warrantee, and old mattress removal in the price; this was a huge upgrade from other stores that had added costs for each of those. The mattress delivery will be a few weeks out, but we were ok with that process as it wasn't urgent. Overall we had a great experience and appreciated Aruna's time and help. We loved the mattress price and comfort in store- hoping that will lead to years of restful sleep once it arrives. read more

Worst customer service EVER. Wish I could give ZERO stars. Placed an order for two dress shirts three hours ago for in store pick up. Didn't hear anything from them so went on line to see that one of the shirts was canceled and the other was pending. Checked our bank account on line and see they charged me $64 for both shirts! Called the store at Brookfield square and after being transferred to three different people, the first who could barely speak English, was told that the one shirt was not in stock even though the web site said it was. No notifications or texts about this which I signed up for when I placed order. She then puts me on hold for a few minutes and says they are out of BOTH shirts because "their numbers must be off"! When asked why they charged before they fill the order was told " that's the .com policy and I'll get my money back in a few business days". WHAT A CROCK! STAY AWAY! read more

I ordered two suitcases online during the Black Friday sale. A blue 20" inch suitcase and a matching blue 24" suitcase. I had them shipped to the Brookfield store for pickup, because I figured this would be the safest delivery method during the holidays. Fast forward two weeks, I still hadn't received any information about my items being ready for pickup. I called the 1800 number (and sat on hold for 49 minutes) for information and was informed that one of the suitcases was in the store. I went to the store the next day and they couldn't locate it. I left the store and called customer service (on hold for 53 minutes) again. After spending hours on the phone with customer service, I called the store back and begged for someone to take a second look to attempt to locate the suitcase. They found it and said they'd hold on to it until the second arrived. Two days later I got an email saying both suitcases were ready for pick up. My husband went to the store on his lunch break and was told they could only locate one of them. Long story short, he ended up leaving the store without the items I paid for because no one knew what happened to the larger suitcase and no one cared enough to find out. He was first offered a suitcase in a totally different color and then offered two but in the color red. I took the red suitcases (even though it wasn't what I wanted/paid for and because no one would take the initiative to figure out what happened to the one I ordered) I will NEVER shop at this or any JCPenney again after this awful experience. The manager didn't even have the decency to come speak to my husband while he was in store. read more
