Own multiple pieces of jewelry and have tried to get repaired under their insurance protection plan only for them to give an excuse of why they couldn't repair them due to not having enough information, mind you I had all receipts with time and date and value. If sent for repair and were unable to repair they would refund in a JCPenney gift card with no option to return jewelry that I want to keep. Today I walked into JC Penny a little confused as to what things I should buy and how they would fit for an interview I have coming up. A gentleman named Anthony walked up and introduced himself and began to help me. He started finding my measurements and grabbed all the options I liked and followed me to the dressing area. He checked in on me, swapped sizes for me, and found exactly what I wanted and I ended up spending twice as much money on things I really did need, and very thankful I did. JCPenney is always a little hit or miss, in my experience. On my recent visit, they're selection of women's clothing was small and uninspired compared with the other department stores in the mall. Not only did I not purchase anything, I didn't even find anything that I wanted to maybe try on. On the flip side, I've purchased many items from their kids department over the years and have always been happy with the price and quality. I've also had occasion to shop the men's department and found their selection to be good with a solid range of styles. My grandmother gave me a $25 gift card to JCPenney's for Christmas so I had no choice but to use it. Since we just moved to Boise, we decided to buy something for our house. We went twice before deciding that we wanted a knife set. The same lady helped us both times, Rhonda. She was very nice and helpful (I give her 5 stars). They were out-of-stock on many items so we ended up going home and ordering the knives from the webpage and then going back to the store to pick them up. Rhonda was there again that night. The only reason my review gets knocked down two stars is because of the lady who works in catalog. I called to make sure our order was ready since I did not receive a confirmation call or email, and she was so rude and nasty on the phone- not like Boise at all. When we arrived in the store we knew it was her working behind the counter, not only because of the anger in the voice, but because of the evil death stare she gave all the customers. I used to love shopping at this store, the cloths were nice and the staff were friendly and always happy and super helpful. I relate with what Loralee above said, Catalog is horrid now, the staff they used to have were amazing! They would take the time to find things for you and they were very knowledgeable. Now they act like its an imposition to even look you in the eye. Ether you get the death stare worker, or the one who leans over the counter like she is about to lay on it. Or the crack pot supervisor who will most likely insult you, as she did with me when I said I had wanted a top with a lower cut in the front, she then said " Well aren't you promiscuous!" Needless to say I did NOT re-order! This store used to have customer service, now you can't find anyone to help you and most employees act like you are putting them out by existing, I point fingers at one worker in women's named "Sarah" who was to busy shopping to help me and rudely pointed me over to another area to find someone to help me. And not 2 min's later she was at a register so don't tell me she wasn't working and shopping at the same time, apparently this is the place to work if your rude and lazy and want to shop rather then work! Thankfully Sharon a very nice supervisor ended up helping me and finding me exactly what size i needed in the back. This is a very nice store. Someone stepped in front of me in line after I had waited a while and the clerk spoke up, I appreciated that.

I'm not sure what's going on with them but there isn't much inventory at the store. Also the employees (not all) are not very nice. My son and I went in to pick up a bedding set and when we walked in an employee came up to us and asked what we were doing, when I told her we were getting a bedding set she said they were getting ready to close, I apologized that I didn't realize they were closing that the doors were open. She replied back well if you look around you'll notice nobody is in the store and you'll have to come back some other time. I told her she didn't need to be so nasty and she became very confrontational I wouldn't shop there again! This review is for the gals working the Online Pickup and Returns counter this past Saturday. They were incredibly helpful and really went the extra mile. I brought in an item I was given as a gift back in November of last year. I had been meaning to return in ages ago and then moved and lost the bag with the item and the receipt. I was hoping they would be able to give me at least a little money back but given the time frame I thought it would be severely discounted. To my surprise, they had no objections about taking it back and gave me the full price that was paid!! Additionally, I had a receipt for a gift card but couldn't remember having an actual gift card for it. They went above and beyond and tracked down the card number and called to check the balance for me and got me taken care of. I was very impressed with their customer service on this visit. However, their selection of clothing, at least for women, is not great. Everything in there right now is either dowdy or hot neon colored and everything is overpriced. It really only pays to shop here if you're shopping for sale items with a coupon and rewards points. read more

I recently purchased kids clothing for grandkids at the Boise, ID Towne Center, and was urged by clerk to apply for a credit card to get 20% discount. I agreed but her had-held computer "failed" and she said she had cancelled the request. I paid by my Visa but when I got home to California I subsequently received a letter "declining" my credit app and dinging my credit rating for TWO years with the credit bureau due to "not being able to identify" me. The letter had my address wrong!.Noone every tried to find me to get the correct information, but they found me with that letter. No amount of phone calls or letters had a satisfactory response. JC Penney refuses to take responsibility for this error and the problems it has caused me with my credit. Everyone says "there is nothing they can do". DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! read more
