The only clue that it was pre-owned (used? refurbished?) before then was some small print that sort of says that outlet = pre-owned, but didn't even explicitly stay that. They used a minus sign "-" instead of an equal sign. The good news is this is Massachusetts and these sorts of practices are illegal and you can get reimbursed up to 3 times the material loss. It all ended well, when I reached out to Mattress Firm and asked if they were going to fix it or if I had to go the Attorney General, they were super responsive and I had a replacement actual "new" mattress for the originally quoted price within 2 days. So, I guess the moral is it's possible to get a good deal, but beware their sales staff!

Beware -- unprofessional and dishonest business practices!…read more I wish I had seen all the negative reviews about this company before making my purchase, because my experience with Dan Wells at Affordable Mattress and Furniture was almost identical to several others. I called ahead to let Dan know I was interested in a couch and ottoman, and he confirmed they were available. When I arrived, however, he had already sold the ottoman and only the couch remained. I told him I wanted both pieces, so he said he would order another ottoman. When the delivery finally happened, it was raining -- and not only did they arrive without the ottoman, but the couch was completely uncovered, leaving all the cushions soaked. I had to set them up myself and dry them out before use. Even worse, during the delivery they caused significant damage to my stairwell -- including the walls, ceiling, and door frame. I took photos and videos immediately and contacted Dan right away. Instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, he was condescending and defensive, immediately accusing me of lying and claiming that "there's no way his delivery guys caused all that damage." He insisted the damage "must have already been there." This was absolutely not true. He promised to come inspect it himself and said the ottoman would be in "tomorrow or the next day." Weeks went by -- no ottoman, no visit, no call. I had to repeatedly chase him down for updates. Every time, he had a new excuse: "We're so busy," "the ottoman is heavy," or "my repair guy is in high demand." After months of delays, he finally showed up on July 20th -- more than two months after the original delivery -- with his "painter" to "look at the damage." Again, his tone was condescending, suggesting that "not all of that could have been from his delivery guys." After that visit, I heard nothing again for weeks. By September 13th, I had to reach out yet again, and the same excuses followed. As of November 11th, it's been over six months, and nothing has been repaired. He has stopped responding entirely. I told him not to come back into my home and asked for a simple $200 refund of the delivery fee so I could pay someone else to fix the damage. I even sent him my Venmo -- still no response. To make matters worse, I've noticed a disturbing pattern: for every negative review about this company, another suspiciously positive one appears soon after, contradicting the complaints almost point by point. Dan Wells and Affordable Mattress and Furniture have shown no accountability, no professionalism, and no respect for their customers. Between the damaged property, months of excuses, accusations of dishonesty, and lack of any resolution, I would strongly urge anyone to take their business elsewhere.

I paid 3k thinking this will probably be the last time I will need to purchase a mattress. I went to the store in Agawam MA. I wasn't sure which would be the best choice but I ultimately chose a firm. The showroom display seemed firm but did have a bit of spring to it so it seemed like it would be comfortable. They made the mattress and delivered it as well as took the old mattress away. That first night I had put on the mattress protector that I purchased from them which they said would be required to keep under their warranty. I was worried because this mattress was literally ROCK hard with no give at all. I slept on it that first night and woke up in the worst pain I've ever had sleeping! Neck, back and shoulders in so much pain! I immediately went back and told them and asked to exchange it for a softer mattress. I spoke to a man there that was the store manager I believe but not sure to be fair. He asked if I had slept on the mattress and I said for one night with their mattress protector on. He then told me they would not take it back or exchange it because I said I had slept on it once that first night! He said he can't sell it now because of that. Im not sure how someone can tell if they are even remotely satisfied with a purchase from them if I didn't at least try it though I could tell it was beyond firm once they installed it. I was told the only thing they could do for me was add a bit more gel cushion to the existing mattress but that the main build and firmness could not be changed and refused a refund or exchange for a softer mattress. I was left with no real choice on a 3k mattress i had just purchased so I said let's at least try that. To which I was charged an additional amount over $200 more. It basically remained an extremely firm mattress that I had paid even more for at this point. There are MANY mattress companies that have satisfaction guarantees but this company does not! I have had pain now for much of my mornings and had a spare bedroom with a cheap but new mattress that I bought from Amazon for UNDER $200 because it really wouldnt be slept on. Well guess what. I gave up waking in so much pain that I am now sleeping in my spare room on my $200 mattress and have not once woke up in pain. I am going Mattress shopping tomorrow (elsewhere) so i can start sleeping in my bedroom again where I will likely drop another 1.5 to 2k for a mattress i can sleep on and a satisfaction guarantee. I have been so upset by this experience and the money I wasted with this company that it has been hard to let it go in my mind. I have steered a good friend in the market for a mattress to anywhere besides Yankee mattress and everyone I know in life has pretty much heard my story at this point. Before I make my new purchase and watch them haul away a brand new expensive mattress I felt that I might feel a bit better sharing my experience so others dont make a mistake with their own expensive purchase. Having shared I can now say that I dont feel better, just cheated. Life is about learning lessons along the way. I guess I can chalk it up to a lesson learned. But it doesnt feel any better and finding a mattress I can sleep on just cost me a lot more money than one should have to pay.
