I can't rave enough about this place. First of all, the guys here are humble. If they can't fix…read moresomething or they feel someone else can fix it more efficiently, they will tell you. I had a broken sliding side door on my minivan. The cable is out. They told me they could fix it but they don't do this repair often and it would take all day. They recommended me to an auto body place that does this stuff all the time and it would cost less. Second of all, they are more than fair and honest. I got a fix-it ticket for a non-functioning brake light. I brought it in to them and they just charged me for the bulb. They could have charged me much more for labor. Finally, they are nice. When you go there, you can't help but have a nice conversation with Louis. He's personable and talkative. So if you are in a hurry, just let him know. So to sum up: I have never had a bad experience here, I have never felt cheated or overcharged, and I have always felt comfortable and important. I highly recommend these guys. They are awesome!

I brought the car in for its annual servicing and in addition to the excellent servicing, they outlined all the future red flags for my car, and then didn't try to sell me anything. It was just, "So you're aware, here's some stuff to keep an eye on that will probably need to happen eventually." I suspected my battery was in bad shape, which they confirmed (they had double checked it without me even mentioning it), and then gave me an estimate of how much longer I could go safely on the current battery. I do recommend making an appointment. They work quite fast, but they are very popular, for obvious reasons. Still, I told them I needed my car by 4 to pick up my son, and they had it done well before then. The guys are lovely to talk to, friendly and funny, and they do great work.

I've been bringing my 1998 VW Cabrio to New Canaan Foreign Car since 2002, after the VW dealer I…read morebought it from twice failed to diagnose and repair a knocking noise from the front suspension. NCFC took care of that issue and became my first choice for regular servicing and numerous other repairs over the years. I always considered the charges fair and the service excellent. The most recent service (3/2016) included replacement of timing belt, tensioner, water pump etc. I knew this would likely be expensive so obtained quotes from other local repair shops (Norwalk - Stamford) and the VW dealer in Stamford NCFC quoted $200 more than the cheapest repair shop and $700 less than the dealer. Aside from knowing NCFC would do the job well I was happy to spend a few extra $$ to support a local business that helps pay my property taxes. Thank you Neal and everyone at New Canaan Foreign Car.

I don't usually do a lot of reviews but I am on a roll this week so I am FINALLY writing a review…read moreof D&L that I should have written years ago. My sister and I have been going to Randy for years--and totally trust him. Just bought a new car and plan on bringing it to him, rather than get ripped off again at Subaru service. Just to give a perfect example of Randy's honesty - For the first 5 years we had our Subaru, we brought it back to the Subaru service dept because we mistakenly thought we had to because of the warranty. After 5 years we went back to Randy. 2 years later, we rec'd a recall from Subaru on the airbags so we had to go back to them to have it fixed. While there they did a "multi-point inspection" and gave me a list of things that had to be done (including rear brakes). The list came out to just under $1300. I just listened and smiled, knowing I had an appt with Randy the following week and would see what he had to say. I was pretty sure I was going to need the rear brakes (since Subaru had told me 2 years before that I needed them) but obviously was not sure of the other items. Randy looked over the car and called to say I needed rear brakes. I asked "anything else" and he said nope- just the brakes. Ended up paying UNDER $400 vs $1300 at Subaru!! We don't put much mileage on our cars but bring them to Randy every 6 months for an oil change and check-up anyway knowing he will never tell us we need something done that is not necessary. DO NOT HESITATE to take your car to D&L. Can definitely trust Randy.
