Two weeks after my surgery, I was dealing with a lot more than just pain from the surgical wounds. I had really bad neck pain, low back pain, pelvic pain, insomnia, headache, constipation for six days, and frequent urination that caused me to wake up 1 to 3 times every night to use the restroom. I was taking oxycodone every six hours just to keep the pain under control. At my one week follow up, my surgeon suggested acupuncture for systemic issues. That's when I decided to see Dr. Chen, and I am so glad I did. During my visit, he asked a lot of medical related questions to understand my condition. He was very attentive and explained why he placed needles on certain pressure points. He also used a machine to apply electrical stimulation on some of the points to enhance the results. The treatment was very thorough and he treated me from head to toe. I was exhausted yesterday and didn't feel much different right away, but the results surprised me this morning. After days of taking stool softeners and drinking prune juice with no success, I was finally able to go. Even more amazing, my pelvic pain was completely gone. I couldn't walk on my own yesterday and had to use a wheelchair because of the pain. This morning, I was able to take a few small steps by myself. What sets him apart from other doctors is that he actually is compassionate, will spend the extra time to make sure all your needs are taken care of, and make you feel welcomed each time you come in. I've been going to Dr. Chen for a few months and he is seriously the guy who changed my perspective of acupuncture. I was always skeptical but then I had some issue with a twitching eyebrow and he poked me with a few needles and after two sessions it was gone. He mentioned it was something to do with my liver and between session 1 and 2, I threw up bile in the morning. Dr. Chen was recommended to me by a friend who has tried many acupuncturists throughout the state and said he was the best. He is not judgmental, has great bedside manner and makes you feel comfortable. He actually cares about his patients and listens to your concerns. I'e gone to at least 8 acupuncturists incl. in San Francisco over the years. Dr. Jeremy has the best touch with needles by far! (Surprising to me, because I assumed women would have a more delicate touch, lol) He is able to insert needles deeply with far less pain into sensitive spots (which seem to be the most effective areas), such as in the ear, toe web, wrist and stomach 36 which usually hurts like a b***! My favorite treatment that he does is when I'm sleepless or stressing out, he's able to drain my 'worry' head energy by putting needles on top of my ears and then puts 4 or 5 in the top of my head!
