The final call was to collect a balance and he waited two weeks before doing that. There were several texts send by me; ie these guys are great etc. He did not appear to be bottom line driven but with his focus on my satisfaction. Of course all business owner want to get paid but that never felt like his priority. It's an art to make a client feel the way I did upon completion. Well done! For the reviews that discuss quotes and didn't select them, the cheap comes out expensive. I would expect most painters to have similar quotes and recommend getting 2 or 3 but paying a bit more for a great job done quickly, that's a no brainer to me. fyi; NEVER accept the cheapest quote and there's a subtle art to a contract negotiation. Don't play games and say what your budget is up front. It makes things go smoothly from the start and the business owner will appreciate your forthrightness. The company will say yes, no or counter. My house looks amazing and that was my #1 goal. It's important to mention that I took a bit too long responding as I am a very busy guy who travels a ton. During the planning/ design phase, Chris Davis met with me multiple times, both at my house and on-site at The Stone Man to develop and refine initial sketches. Working with me to understand what my dream goal would be, and finding a way to get the design completed within budget was greatly appreciated. Chris remained professional and patient with me throughout the planning phase, and his work was greatly appreciated. Once the construction began, Jon Purdue and team worked diligently on-site around the clock to transform our design vision into reality; and did the final result exceed expectations! I have confidence the team can complete any project, large or small, after seeing the work completed. The team developed the following: - Retaining wall designed in variable height from approx. 4 feet to 6 feet (to meet an architecture design I requested) - Large covered area with a fireplace, wet bar, and bar seating for 4 - Outdoor kitchen equipped with a custom designed brick oven - Outdoor fire pit with a seating wall, and additional seating for 4 adirondack chairs - Large paver area, complete with matching stone trim, which ties into countertops, fireplace, fire pit, etc. The daily workers on-site (led by Leo) are truly artist at their profession. One advantage of working from home during the pandemic was to be able to see the team hand chipping stone and building truly one of a kind masterful pieces. Jon did an exceptional job managing the project, checking in with me via phone or on-site multiple times a week. When sub-contractors came on-site to complete the work, they presented the same professionalism as the team from The Stone Man. Through conversations with the various sub-contractors, it was evident The Stone Man team performs a lot of reoccurring work with these groups, and the quality of work and professionalism exemplified by the team at The Stone Man was cascaded throughout all groups involved. Post-production, both Jon and Chris continue to check-in to ensure the work quality remains. The process of meeting with them was great, we started the design process, and a rough estimate was delivered which met our budget. When we did all our material selection, the final estimate was very close to our rough project estimate which was great - no surprise costs. Communication was great and when the project started our project manager was in contact with us every day until completion. We had periodic touchpoints to make sure we were happy, and they quickly resolved any questions we had. The masons were great, clean, professional, and considerate. From start to finish we couldn't be happier with the process, and the final product. One thing that stands out to me was how engaged the whole company was with our project. They make you feel like you are the only project they have, which is light years better than some other contactors we have worked with. I would not recommend working with TruBlue…read more We hired them to build a single wall, install French doors, and move a light switch. At first, our experience was great. Wendy, the general contractor, was prompt in communication, provided a detailed quote, and scheduled the project quickly. However, once work began, it went downhill. Their crew was supposed to start work Monday morning. They texted Sunday night and said someone called out and asked if they could start Tuesday. No problem, things happen. I was in a meeting Monday afternoon and got a call from them asking if they could come right then. I had to rearrange the rest of my day to accommodate them but did. They showed up and only stayed for two hours. They asked if they could start at 8 am each day and we said yes, they could come as early as they would like. They did not show up at 8 am on any day, but rather closer to 10 am. The project was supposed to take at most, 4 days. Instead, it took 8. They blamed this on us, for making changes throughout the project. However, those changes were minor (like changing our minds on the door knobs for the French doors, and providing new ones, before they had even installed them) and I explicitly asked if any of those changes were going to hold up the process. They said no. They initially built the wall and it was crooked. We asked them to fix it and they tried, but it was still very warped. The mud was applied unevenly and not sanded well. They applied paint anyway. We had to ask them to redo this. They did and the wall is now straight, but the mud and paint overtop are still uneven. They installed trim poorly and unevenly, leaving rough edges and gaps. They did not patch the holes that the nail gun left or paint the trim. We are now stuck doing this. They moved the electrical switch to the incorrect place on the wall, despite me marking exactly where we wanted it and confirming placement with them in-person beforehand. Now it's too late to fix that. They didn't lay proper protection down on our floors and they were coated in white from dust and splattered paint. They said not to worry and they would scrub them. They didn't. We are left trying to remove debris from the hardwood floor cracks that is proving difficult to get fully clean. Most importantly, they re-wired the electrical incorrectly. Our switches don't work properly, or at all sometimes. We've gotten several quotes from other electrical contractors and they've all agreed -- This was a botched job. We are now looking at spending $4,000 to fix their mistakes. After all of this, we just wanted Wendy and her team out of our home so we wrote them a check to be done with it. Wendy never followed up on the quality issue updates. With us, after initial consult, their team's communication was poor and the quality of work/craftsmanship was very much lacking.
