I have been following a lot of different shops on Instagram, but I would just keep seeing these stunning pieces coming out of Ocho Placas. I would work and see such variety of different pieces, sure enough Ocho Placas. Javier, the owner, does some really incredible black work. Pooka, is the Miami flower girl for sure, she does the most true to form nature tatts. The artist I ultimately chose was Jerry Blades, he does the sickest Japanese style tatts. They also have a walk in studio, where you can get your piece designed and put on same day, which is cool. In my case though, It took me only like 13 years to commit, and when you are getting a significant piece, you want to get the best quality that you can. I was back and forth with Jerry and I am so proud and blessed to have chosen Ocho Placas for my tattoo. The piece took a few sessions to complete and it came out spectacular. The professionalism of the shop is on point. They are not cheap, but they are certainly worth the price of admission. You are certainly investing in a quality piece of art, and one that you will be carrying with you your whole life. I absolutely recommend this shop.

The tattoo came out wonderfully and it has healed great! I'm so glad I got to check out this studio while in Miami. Maybe I'll get to get more work done here in the future!

She was super knowledgeable about tattoo placement and size - I wanted to get something on my finger initially but then had changed it to my arm because she noted how it would fade over time and that the object I wanted to get would not look great in that placemento. Hani kept the conversation flowing and fun that the process went by so quickly and the tattoo came out amazing! I highly recommend her if you are in the Miami area and want to get a tattoo!

I picked a design I had had my eyes on for at least 4 years, and looked forward to getting a hammer and anvil to mark 3 years of perseverance and willpower. Chris ruined the experience for me and turned it from a celebration of my own achievement to a showcase of his ineptitude and idiocy. From the moment I set foot in the shop, he gave me crap about the design: the placement of the anvil and pincers, the overall design, etc. Despite the fact that I provided my own reference material and gave clear instructions about what I wanted done, he half-assed the job and finished the tattoo in half an hour with the skill of Napoleon Dynamite. I felt revolted by his work as soon as I got back to my place and from the first moment I looked at it in the mirror, knew I wanted it removed. Now, as a seasoned tattoo collector with more than 20 on my skin, I am having to pay 3 thousand dollars and endure blistering lasers once a month because of this imbecile man's belief that he is anything other than someone with a skill (HA) who lends his abilities to others to make their vision come true. If you want to have your positive tattoo experience shat on and to endure tattoo removal for years afterwards, I highly recommend booking with Chris at Oxygen Ink.
