My sister and I were asked what we were wanting to do, we were given the price, and were immediately assigned a tattoo artist. Quick, easy, and smooth for walk ins! We were making bracelets in the waiting room (cute touch) when Melanie came out and discussed with us what we wanted and she came out about 3 minutes later and knew the exact font we wanted and did a few different sizes to see which one we would like. I called to see if this studio was taking walk-ins and luckily one of the artists, Pam, was ok to come in for me on short notice. The studio was very clean and the receptionist was very nice and accommodating. My artist listened to what I wanted, and even though what I got was tiny, Pam made sure that the placement and style of the tattoo was exactly what I wanted before getting started. The tattoo came out wonderfully and it has healed great! I'm so glad I got to check out this studio while in Miami. Maybe I'll get to get more work done here in the future!

I picked a design I had had my eyes on for at least 4 years, and looked forward to getting a hammer and anvil to mark 3 years of perseverance and willpower. Chris ruined the experience for me and turned it from a celebration of my own achievement to a showcase of his ineptitude and idiocy. From the moment I set foot in the shop, he gave me crap about the design: the placement of the anvil and pincers, the overall design, etc. Despite the fact that I provided my own reference material and gave clear instructions about what I wanted done, he half-assed the job and finished the tattoo in half an hour with the skill of Napoleon Dynamite. I felt revolted by his work as soon as I got back to my place and from the first moment I looked at it in the mirror, knew I wanted it removed. Now, as a seasoned tattoo collector with more than 20 on my skin, I am having to pay 3 thousand dollars and endure blistering lasers once a month because of this imbecile man's belief that he is anything other than someone with a skill (HA) who lends his abilities to others to make their vision come true. If you want to have your positive tattoo experience shat on and to endure tattoo removal for years afterwards, I highly recommend booking with Chris at Oxygen Ink.

Upon arrival Rafael drew something up to his liking of my reference but it was completely different than what I was expecting. In minor shock I was silent. I have two full stomach tattoos, 3 portraits, a half leg sleeve, and a back neck tattoo all done by differing artist and none have ever changed what i wanted so drastically. Rafael felt my vibe being off and then offered me to work with him on what we could do. Not dead set on the tattoo I originally showed him 3 months in advance I asked if he did portraits as I would like one more. He pointed to one that I already had and blatantly asked "why don't you just go back to that artist?". Once again I was taken aback by the comment. After discussing not doing another tattoo we set back on track for the original reference and idea I provided. He drew something much closer to what I wanted but I asked for more detail. He assured me there would be more detail in the actual tattoo than in the drawing. He also assured me that the sizing wasn't an issue and would connect to my other tattoos. After he was 'finished' neither promises were kept. The tattoo looks unfinished in detailing especially in comparison to what I asked for and in the look of my tattoo style. The tattoo also does not fade into my other tattoo shading. This is so disappointing as he had an apprentice with him who was listening to Rafael call himself extremely talented and gifted and naturally amazing at tattooing. This also left me so unsatisfied I decided to pay and leave as he did not want to (or could not) do what I asked for. I will now have to spend more money with a different artist to finish what he started.
