DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, Arnie is a crook. he supposedly worked on my washer & charged me almost what a new one cost. He tested it empty so it appeared to work, put laundry in & it didn't work. He also charged me for a dryer vent he was going to return to install, after 3 no show appointments & flimsy excuses, I never received vent nor can I get my money back. Contacted JB Appliances on February 18, 2024 (Sunday) seeking service for my washing machine. Arnie came out the same day and diagnosed the problem to be a bad gear box...and charged me $98 (wanted cash which I paid). He told me he would have to order the part/s which would take about 5 days to get and he would apply the $98 to any subsequent work. On or about February 26 I reached Arnie via phone and he told me (text) that the suppliers didn't have the needed gearbox and they would let him know when they would have the part "tomorrow"...February 27. Sent a text to Arnie on March 7th asking when he intended to fix my washing machine. H responded, "At a noisy environment and out of town at the moment. Back in town on Mondy. I'll reach out then." I responded, "This has taken way too long." He responded, "I agree." On Sunday, March 17th I sent him another text asking when he intends to fix my washing machine. No answer. Passive aggressive behavior and a blatant show of annoyance if you wish to discuss their quote(s). Business must be good for JB Appliances, apparently they can afford to tell customers to take a hike. Let me explain a recent, unprofessional encounter with that I experienced with Arnie, a tech (possibly the owner...even worse). Don't expect a call from JB Alliances to discuss quotes, Arnie's preferred method of communication is via text (see attached dialogue). As we all know with texting, there's a tendency for miscommunication. However, his blatant disregard to provide me a simple breakout makes me wonder, are there ulterior motives to the "what the service sells for..."?...(does the "service sell" fluctuate address to address, community to community?) Arnie is awesome. He field stripped our dryer in five minutes and immediately identified the problem and had it repaired less than 45 minutes later. I cannot impress enough that he earns this five star review based on his personality, friendliness, skill and speed. You can't really do much about price, people have a cost for parts and labor and I thought he was more than fair about it. There is a convenience charge for credit cards, so have a check handy for the lowest price possible. He noted the model number for our washer as well just in case. Our 27 year old Kenmore clothes washer was banging in its spin cycle. This is the first time we had a problem with it!! I called JB and spoke directly with Arnie. He was able to come that day, and saw the problem. A spring that held the clothes drum in place came off its hook, and Arnie re-attached it. He did a test of the spin cycle as well as the water fill up as there was previous water leaking from the drum being off-centered. Overall, he charged a very reasonable visit/repair fee and while he was looking around he took the time to showed and explained to me what was the problem. Great Service! Great Price! My 8 year old dryer stopped heating a couple weeks before Thanksgiving in '13. I called and they came out in a couple days. The heating element had gone out. They replaced it and offered me the 5 year service kit which replaces belts, seals, etc., and I agreed because the dryer was "squealing" when it was running. They also got the pennies and guitar picks out from being stuck under one of the arms in the drum. They also cleaned out the dryer really well. Total for everything was just $250.88...far better than having to purchase a new dryer right before the holidays. It's almost March '14 now and my dryer is still running smoothly and quietly. This man is dishonest. Do not use him. I was told he could come out on a Saturday, but when he called he said he couldn't come until Sunday. We made an appointment for him to come at 10am on Sunday and he never showed. When I called him he said he had booked someone else and couldn't come. Washer went out Saturday night; Sears couldn't come out until the next Friday. I called JB Appliances (they were reasonably close) on Tuesday morning and the were out Tuesday afternoon. The repairman was waiting on my doorstep, very friendly, and said he thought he had a hunch about what was wrong, so he brought some parts from the shop. Turned out he was spot on. Fixed it in about 30 minutes. I thought the charge was fair and we were back in the washing business in no time at all. They had great reviews on google which is why I chose to use them. I put in a request online and received a phone call within a few hours, that part was great. He let me text him a video of the problem to get a better idea. I scheduled a time for him to come and he let me know about 20 minutes before he arrived. I appreciated that. He was very friendly when he arrived. He thought he discovered the problem and got the part he needed from his truck. He told me he would have to come back tomorrow because he didn't have anyone to help him. I offered to help so it could be finished, he agreed. He made small talk while he worked, it was a bit condescending but I don't think that was his intention. He asked to use many of my household things, he needed a step ladder, needed several of my bowls to get the water out. A lot of water spilled out of the machine at one point and he wanted me to get my towels to clean it. I understand you don't always know what you need on a job but it seemed excessive. The part he tried to use was incompatible with my machine. He was trying to save me money with this part so I definitely appreciated the effort. He told me he had the right one at the shop and would come back the next day with help. He again called when he was about 20 minutes away, and arrived with help. They got to work and I was feeling better. Then he informed me that he was in a hurry and that the piece he thought was broken wasn't the only one and that it would not be cost effective to fix the machine. He told me he was going to leave his part in the machine and come get it later but that I couldn't throw the washer away till then. It caught me off guard. I told him he needed to take it out. Reluctantly he did. He told me he was leaving a towel on the ground because it was a little wet. They never asked me to pay for coming out today, just the service charge from the first day. He apologized for the mistake and admitted not discovering the other issue yesterday was his fault. I appreciated his efforts and they left. My biggest issue was when they left I went back to turn the light off and saw water all over my floor. Underneath the machine was all wet and they had not bothered to clean it..it would have ruined my floors. The machine was pulled out and not put back in its place and the bowl I let him borrow was still under the machine..I believe you should leave someone's home in at least the condition you found it. read more

This is an unusual review in that I chose not to get the appliances repaired at this time. But -- Arnie and JB Appliance deserve 5 stars for their customer service. I called - provided the model number of the washer and dryer needing repair. Both were knob/timing issues; so both still worked but had issues with the knob/timing. Arnie took the information from me - called me back with estimates for cost (labor and parts) and could not have been more helpful and informative. I ultimately decided not to make the repairs (since both washer and dryer are very old) - but based on the phone conversations and level of courtesy and expertise -- I would definitely recommend them and will call them if either the washer or dryer stops working -- or if I purchase new appliances. read more
