RUN do not walk away from this doctor. I find it difficult to understand how this physician has a license to practice endocrinology. I wound up admitted through the ER after having a hypertensive crisis and wasn't even there for anything having to do with endocrinology. However, because I was on thyroid medication, as well as hydrocortisone after having surgery to remove a pituitary tumor, the medical team in charge of my care consulted with Dr. Dhali. She completely changed crucial medication, was condescending, and downright incompetent. She also placed notes in my file saying she suspected I was lying about my medical history. Absolutely outrageous. Once I got out of there I went to see my endocrinologist at Northwestern ASAP who had been managing my care successfully for 4 years and immediately corrected Dr. Dhali's dangerous medication changes. My endocrinologist was absolutely appalled that Dr. Dhali made such drastic changes without knowing or receiving my medical history from Northwestern. This woman is a kook and your health is in danger in her "care." The ONLY reason I ended up at Swedish Covenant ER was because I had a hypertensive crisis and it was the nearest hospital so the ambulance took me there. The goal was to get my blood pressure under control so that I wouldn't have a damn stroke. The cardiologist was great and he did get my blood pressure under control and ran appropriate test. There was no need for Dr. Dhali to bombard in and start messing with my crucial hormone medication (thyroid and hydrocortisone). By the way they don't even carry hydrocortisone. What kind of hospital doesn't carry hydrocortisone? Please, please for your own sake. If you have any endocrine conditions, go elsewhere. I believe Dr. Dhali is a danger to the public!!!! read more

UPDATE: It is impossible to get anything scheduled or rescheduled over the phone or online. Dr Dhali is awesome but the administrative office is terrible. No follow up. I called on Tuesday to advise I can't make my appointment the following week, they said they were busy and need to call me back and hello, no call back to date. I won't be surprised if they mark me as a no-show and if they do, that would be the last straw and Im asking to see a different doctor. UPDATE: After expressing my concern with The Clark they helped me secure an appointment and assured me that if it didn't work out, we could go elsewhere. Gave this office a chance and it was a complete 360 of my previous experience so I am cautiously optimistic. Dr. Dhali was warm and didn't rush, took time to explain and I felt a genuine care. The administrative side could still work on smiling but they weren't rude. Hoping this wasnt a fluke and I'll have a consistent positive experience moving forward. read more

Dr. Dhali needs some basic socialization skills. How do you look at a fat person and then say you need to loose weight and that's why you have diabetes. I knew that and it's not easy. I was sent to her for information about my diabeties not to be insulted. I learned nothing from her comments. I left her office in tears. Good luck if you get her. read more

I started with Dr. Dhali as my Endocrinologist last year when I moved to Chicago. True- her bedside manner is not great, but she is very on point and even though I have had hypothyroidism for years, she explained my thyroid issues to me in a clear, understandable, and detailed manner. She is thorough and checks my levels every few months. She called me personally (multiple times to avoid just leaving a message) to explain the change in my thyroid levels and why she wanted me to change my medication dosage. I have seen many doctors in the last 5 years, and I hardly ever get calls from the doctor themselves! Her nurse and office staff are great- they remember my name/medical history when I call in and are as accommodating as they can be. I plan on switching to her as my PCP as well. read more

I had a referral from my Midwife to go and see Dr. Dhali earlier this week. My Midwife and Dr. Dhali work at the same hospital, and my Midwife was concerned that I might be diabetic so she wanted me to get checked out. Dr. Dhali's office made we wait an hour to be seen, I filled out an extensive history as it was my first visit and neither the Nurse or the Doctor seemed to have read that when they finally spoke with me. I was asked the same questions numerous times. I'm pregnant and I went through IVF to get pregnant, so my weight is obviously up. However Dr. Dhali chose to call me pudgy, she then questioned my choice of using a Midwife instead of a "real Doctor", couldn't remember what office they were out of and then, when I called her out for being so insulting she became belligerent and disrespectful to me. She also could not get her staff together to get my test results even though I took the tests at the hospital she is affiliated with, when the results came in, she could not find the diabetes test results. She showed the page to me, to prove that they weren't there and low and behold they were actually on the bottom of the sheet, clearly. I found out I wasn't Diabetic, which is great obviously. If this perhaps is a problem again in my future, I will find another Endocrinologist. I do not recommend this Doctor, she has zero bedside manner, long waits, and a quick temper. read more

I recently switched to having Dr. Dhali as my primary care physician. She was highly recommended by my diabetes educator (Debbie Davis). I wish I had switched to Dr. Dhali years ago! She is an amazing doctor. She is caring and does everything she can to help her patients. She has a great sense of humor. She makes sure to follow up with her patients and contacts them when she has results of tests. She is a great listener and will talk and work with you in order to manage your health care, rather than do "drive by doctoring". I am very happy she works closely with my diabetes educator at Swedish Covenant Hospital. This is a big plus!! I really appreciate her staff. They do a wonderful job! Overall, I cannot recommend Dr. Dhali enough. She may be very busy, but she does the best she can for her patients. read more

I was referred to Dr. Dhali 3 years ago when I developed gestational diabetes. She was rude, uncaring, and repeatedly accused me of not caring for my unborn child: "Why aren't you following the diet?" "I am!" "Clearly you aren't! Your levels are going up! Don't you know this is bad for your baby?" She was a horrible witch of a woman. I am pregnant again and my OB/GYN wants to send me to her again. Dr. Dhali has been our (my husband and mine) primary care physician for about 3 years. She is very caring and truly seems to want the best for her patients. She makes sure I understand anything she is saying and is open to answer any and all questions. Doesn't make me feel rushed. Dr. Dhali is a mom herself and understands the stresses and joy of being a mother and what that can do to a woman. She also specializes in diabetes and thyroid problems (endocrinology), which I was lucky for me when I decided to join the cast of "thyroids gone wild!" Her office staff is great, always getting me in for an appointment after they realize what a huge worrier I am. Minus one star for how busy she is, I think the practice she is in (at Swedish Covenant Hospital) really keeps her running. Also included in that -1 is that she only treats adults. I was with Dr. Dahli for 1.5 years, too long. The entire time she called me by my middle name, despite being corrected. I went through all of her and the HMO hoops and she would still not refer me to the specialist that I needed to see (she's on the referral committee). I know, I learned my lesson and went to PPO so I didn't have to deal with this Dr. at all. The final straw was when she complained to me that my HMO was causing her too much paper work that she did not have time for. read more

Our initial meeting was hhhooooorible that was in 2003. I was very overweight and her statement to me, "you have to decide if you want to be a Goat or a Cow". Me: "wait....what, I don't know..... a Goat & Cow both eat the same thing....sooooo". That was then, I hung in there and 16 years later we're still together....she is the best physician eeevvvverrr. I call once a year to schedule an appointment and the staff recognize my voice.....how great is that **I have a low sultry & sexy voice** lololol. I received a referral from the midwives at Swedish Covenant, where I'm delivering, to Dr. Dhali so she could monitor my thyroid hormone levels during pregnancy. All the reviews about Dr. Dhali's bedside manner are spot-on. She's awful. She took my medical history and grilled me about the details of my thyroid cancer and thyroidectomy. I told her as best I remembered, and she kept interrupting to tell me I was wrong. (I later confirmed my facts with my mother and husband.) Eventually, I resorted to answering all her accusations with, "Why don't you request my medical records from Northwestern?" over and over. I had the best care possible at Northwestern, and I think they would know better than she what the best treatment for me was. I told the midwives about Dr. Dhali and they admitted that their patients don't like her much. Later, I received a referral to North Shore for a consult. Dr. Dhali seems to be monitoring my thyroid levels well enough, so I don't want to give her one star. However, there are better endocrinologists out there -- and nicer ones, for sure. read more

My experience with Jayshree Dhali was horrible and highly do not recommend. When I asked her if I should use a continuous glucose monitors she laughed at me...despite the fact that I am a Type I diabetic...I wonder if she did not want me to have it because of insurance reasons. My visit and my only visit with Dr. Dhali, went great! She told me she is going to help me with my thyroid problem, she said I should not of been on my current medication for so long and tests will be run and she understands how I have been feeling and can help me. I have hyper-thyroid. However, everything after that, well, she was rude, accused me of having communication problems and she never followed through, only tripled the medication that I was on. The medication she told me not to take anymore. The process of blood tests and uptake scan, well this took four months!! And I am now seeing another doctor; to get a final diagnosis. And after reading others reviews, I agree with the insurance issue as well. I am on public aid now and have never been treated so poorly by a doctor. read more

As a healthcare professional, I am very picky about the physicians I choose to see. Unfortunately, my primary care doctor was ready to retire so I was always on the lookout. When my father became ill with diabetes, I asked for an endocrinology consult when I observed that his sugars were not decreasing as well as I would've anticipated them to. In walked Dr. Dhali and our lives were transformed. She is a caring, extremely knowledgeable, concerned, and wonderful doctor. She is managing my dad's care marvelously and is now my whole family's PCP. She truly listens when I talk to her and as a working mom, she can totally relate to the stresses of raising children. I value her professionalism and medical expertise immensely and have recommended her to many of my friends and family. Her staff is fantastic and always very professional as well.
