I cannot help it if My VA Hospital is among the top VA Medical facilities in the United States of America. It receives highest ratings. And for this I am grateful. I know, so I try to be understanding. If the providers can, shouldn't we at least try? I say let's do it. I am grateful to God and Country for all the care I receive. So is my wife. Like most VA it's horrible. They cancel appointments last minute regularly and then they lie to…read moreyour face and tell you they called you. Even though we can all look on our phones and show them they are wrong they take no responsibility. I'd say understaffed but it wouldn't matter because they have the laziest staff you can imagine so quantity doesn't really help. It's very normal for the bargain bin doctors they have to just not show up to the patients appointments they agreed to and they suffer no consequences. Terrible hospital but again on par for horrible VA care. The entire hospital and system needs to be gutted and redone you can't salvage these people working there because they are the bottom of the barrel. Expect to be treated like garbage not listened to or even given basic care. Thank you for your service, here's the trash bin.

I brought an extended family member here for an orthopaedic followup appointment. The particular…read morefacility here is actually an ambulatory care center, so they support much more than just orthopaedics. It was a Monday and you should know that orthopaedic cases and Mondays go together like hand and glove; i.e., it was quite busy. I found this facility to be top notch, well organized, well maintained, clean, bright, and efficient. Staff here is top notch too. They have a huge parking lot that not only supports this center, but the adjacent Neurological Institute and the Glenbrook Hospital as well. It's definitely nice to have this facility and its staffers available in our vicinity.

While the MDs & RNs here are all quite nice, I have a real problem with the fact that it's next to…read moreimpossible to reach someone here on the phone. You have to go thru a main number. The other day I called several times, listened thru the automated message & then each time sat on hold for quite some time before being disconnected! The following day I tried again at 4:30. And the message said they were not taking calls, that the "on call" team was covering. I thought this weird since their closing time is listed at 5:30, 7:30 & 9:30 pm- depending on the day. Finally, the next day I found a number for one of the nurses there & was able to leave a voicemail. I received a call back today. When I relayed the extreme difficulty I had trying to reschedule an appt to this support staff/scheduler I received a chuckle & was matter of factly told it was normal that no one answers the phones after 4:20 pm since that is when they stop taking calls & refer everything to the "on-call" team. This was news to us! Then why bother listing their "open" hours as being a full hour past that time, 2 hours past that time & 5 hours past that time-- depending on the day? So in summary, the telephone triage system is VERY inconvenient to navigate, and usually results in long wait times and disconnects/hang ups. And patients should know that they stop answering the phones for non-emergencies at 4:30- regardless of their posted hours.

Every visit has been truly lovely. Each staff member welcomes each patient, introduces themselves, explains what will happen at each step in the process, and provides little things for comfort like a warm blanket while napping in preparation for a contrast CT. Always calm, smiling, comforting and attentive. All appointments have started exactly on time which helps relieve anxiety as there is no stressful waiting. The facility is spotless and so beautiful. It does not feel like a hospital at all. Nice cafeteria for a snack afterwards. Free parking, too. Shout out especially to Ms. Lavin for a really extraordinary and helpful educational session today. If you should have a need for a medical genetics consult I highly recommend Christina Lavin! And thank you to medical assistant Janice for the quick and painless blood draw today. The whole team here goes above and beyond for their patients. Thank you!!

Getting test results often required repeated follow-ups, and appointment wait times were frequently excessive. My most recent visit was unacceptable. I came in for a follow-up after a serious hospital stay and was turned away because the office claimed they hadn't received a fax, despite it being sent the prior week. No real effort was made to locate it, and I was even refused when I offered to email the records myself. Dr. Dyer never spoke to me directly and instead made dismissive, disrespectful comments to staff within earshot. Given the length of time I was a patient and the circumstances, this was deeply unprofessional. I will not be returning and do not recommend this practice.

We were here very early in the morning so there were not a to of people here at the time; it was just us and a couple other folks in the large waiting room on the imaging floor. I was surprised by the lack of hand sanitizer--there was one dispenser just outside the elevator from the parking garage, but I didn't see others around the check-in desk or in the waiting room. The ultrasound technician put on a mask when I asked her to. She was knowledgeable and competent which is of course always a good thing in this situation. The ultrasound was very quick--we were finished within maybe ten minutes. I like that they have little touches like lights on the roof that would distract a child getting an ultrasound, even though my little one was too young to appreciate it. However, something that's pretty annoying about Lurie is that they don't tell you that you have to sign up for MyChart. Apparently they're a separate organization than Northwestern (I thought they were simply the children's hospital at Northwestern, similar to how Prentice is the women's hospital at Northwestern) and it's the internet that told me you needed to create a Lurie MyChart account when I was trying to find my daughter's records, NOT a Lurie employee. I'm not sure why they'd assume people would know that they're distinct and separate from Northwestern's MyChart given how closely associated they are with Northwestern. Lurie has a parking garage on site and it is actually incredibly reasonably priced, amazing. Just don't forget to get a chaser card when you check in to make sure you get the best parking rate; I'm not sure if it would be more expensive if you didn't have the card.
