Food was incredible! Loved the calamari strips, they were so tender and crispy. Salmon and pasta were both delicious. First time at Jays, but definitely won't be the last.

We've been back to Jay's twice, service has been great both times. Our waiter on the last visit was Tucker and tonight Bronson. Very knowledgeable regarding the menu and great recommendations. He brought a very positive vibe to the experience. The Artichokes app and both our seafood entrees were excellent. So flavorful. Even the salads were worthy of note. The ingredients are high quality all around and the presentation is mouth-watering! Fresh seafood has to travel far to get here, and price reflects that expense. And it's well worth the cost. Highly recommended. I'm coming back for lobster!

I usually come to Jay's for restaurant week and it is always an amazing meal. The spiced bourbon salmon is probably one of my favorite items on the menu. The sides that come with it are mashed sweet potatoes and the horseradish mashed potatoes. I don't even like horseradish but the mashed potatoes are delicious! All the flavors and the bourbon sauce meld perfectly together. I also had the seafood linguine and it had the perfect amount of sauce and was loaded with seafood. This was a great portion size and I was able to get multiple meals out of this place. The lobster bisque had amazing flavor to it and I would definitely get it again. I didnt have the clam chowder this time but that is also a favorite of mine. The only thing I did not like as much was the chocolate mousse. The presentation caught me off guard because it looked like ice cream. It also was very thick, dense, and starchy (like eating chalk) and Im used to a lighter, smoother consistency. It wasn't bad and I did eat it all but it just wasn't what I was expecting. I have tried their key lime pie and flourless chocolate cake and those were phenomenal. They get 5 stars because of that. Next time I will just stick to what I know. I will definitely be coming back!

My first time dining here was actually on my birthday. My husband and I decided to celebrate at this location and we had a wonderful time. My very favorite detail about Jay's seafood is how unfussy the vibe is. You get excellent quality food, great service, but nothing feels pretentious. Our waitress chatted with us, and we felt right at home while eating some truly delicious seafood. I am a big raw oyster fan, and their oysters were so fresh and so delicious that I would come back just to have a glass of wine and a dozen oysters. I also enjoyed the muscles as my entree, and they were delicious. This is a great gem in downtown Dayton, and a great spot if you're a big seafood lover like me.

Jays is a real gem in The Gem City. The beautiful, historic building. The divine cuisine and the friendly, jovial service make it one of our favorites. We always make sure we get there early to enjoy a well made cocktail at the unique bar.

I would encourage to have a reservation. The place was packed on a Friday evening. The service was very good. The best scallops I had in Dayton. The shrimp was also very good, flavorful and soft. I got the gumbo (chefs special - not on the menu). It was good. The sausage had a unique flavor. Wife got the pasta which was decent as well. The place looks a little old. They validate the parking.

We've been to Jay's numerous times and have always been satisfied. Today, we finally realized it was Dayton's best restaurant! I had the blackened walleye--delicious! My wife had a rare fillet and it was cooked perfectly. We normally go to the Oakwood Club or the Pine Club for steaks, but this one was even better. We love the atmosphere and Tandra's service was top-notch, not oppressive but we never felt neglected. We'll definitely be going back more often, and now not just for the fish!

Phenomenal and authentic food... Best tasting OCTOPUS, in Ohio of all places!! Did not expect a fancy seafood place inside of a latin market! I was looking for the perfect place that serves steak and seafood for my husband's birthday..... This place is a hidden gem.... Best food I have ever had in Ohio, great service as well.... We have studied the menu and our plan: FRITURAS DE MAR 21.99 bring 2 small plates to divide Calamari rings, octopus pieces, and seasoned shrimp coated in crispy flour, served with tartar and chipotle dressing. CALDO BIRRIA -- 20.99 serve in two bowls Caldo birria, also known as birria en caldo, is a rich and flavorful Mexican stew that has gained immense popularity for its tender meat and savory broth. FILETE NAYARIT 24.99 Curvina fillet covered with shrimp, octopus, and garlic bell peppers served with rice and salad. Pasta del Mare Seafood mix cooked in tomato sauce, onion with fettuccine pasta. Churro's We do expect to request take away boxes following dining. Throughout our 60 year relationship, my wife enjoys desert as an appetizer, and today is no exception. The Churro's are delivered in a flash; we discovered this special treat nearly 50 years ago during an expedition to Spain and Portugal. The very best Churro's were prepared by roadside vendors, and our friends, Bill and Ellen Rose agreed. I also requested that CALDO BIRRIA be served prior to the entrees, and this is a delightful dish. As experienced Sunday Diners, we arrive at 11:00am to avoid the "church rush." Church folks have not yet discovered this excellent venue. Venue: a distinct Hispanic dining event; large, well-lighted restaurant with very loud music - we encouraged management to decrease volume. Sophia was our delightful young server; her English was passable; she did not quite understand why my wife wanted churros as an appetizer, but the churros soon came, and my wife observed that these taste like Spain. Sonora Grille reminded us of some fine restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. My dear wife finally elected CAMARONES AL GRILL, and we offer 5 stars to menu and to dining. Overall a Five Star experience; pays to get off the beaten path. Following lunch, my wife suggests an Open House to view Benham Grove venues for an upcoming event. Next she opts for a Sunday Estate Sale....

I did the Bleu Wave signature seasoning and loved it, but may try a different one next time to see how the others are. The boils are awesome if you are hungry, love seafood and are willing to get a little messy. We have also had multiple appetizers including the spring rolls which are packed with flavor, and the baked oysters which are fresh from Virginia and cooked to perfection. Hard for us to not get them everytime we go. Finally, the vietnamese food itself. The vermicelli noodles and pho are both super flavorful and make you feel like you are eating a genuine vietnamese meal. The concept of a seafood boil spot combined with a Vietnamese restaurant felt very unique. We ordered the snow crab, scallops, and shrimp. I chose the seasoned garlic butter, but honestly, I couldn't find the "season" in it--it tasted more like plain butter than anything else. However, my friend ordered the spicy Asian seasoning, and it was delicious! I definitely had some food envy there. Overall, the quality of the seafood was decent. The location is also really convenient, right on the outside of the mall. Despite the garlic butter being a little plain for my taste, I'd definitely stop by again if I'm in the area (I'll just order the Asian seasoning next time!).
