I love coming by Dayton Fish whenever I'm in town. They have a great fish selection including shellfish. They'll cook anything you buy for a reasonable fee. They use Andy's breading which is what I use at home so I knew exactly what I was getting. The food came out in a reasonable time considering how busy they were. You can call in your order or just come in and take a number. The employees were really nice and patient in helping me figure out how much fish to buy for my group. A Dayton Classic I was referred to come here and I got the Basa Catfish sandwhich. I was fried with cornmeal and was big, crunchy and hot. On rye bun and loved every bite with their tarter sauce too. Their Argentine Red fried shrimp, awesome!! I can not believe I have never came to this place in all the years. As people of the Gem City know, this is a fish market that will fry ANYTHING you buy for a small fee. Frankly, I have never had a bad piece of fish come from this place. Of course they have catfish & swai, uggghh, but they also have whiting, red snapper, sea bass, walleye, & perch among others. Not cheap, but nowadays what is. I haven't lived in Dayton since 1987, but I make it a point to go here every time I come back (including Black Friday) to make that drive down Siebenthaler to N Main. 5-stars. read more

Just went to Dayton Fish and it was packed. I was later told Friday is their busiest day. People were friendly in front and behind the counter. Our server was polite and informative. They have a great variety of Fish which was nice to see. We will go back again but not on Friday. read more

Despite only having 7 reviews, I decided to try this place. I'm happy I did, but it is definitely not what I expected. It's carry-out only. Very friendly staff. You get to select your fish from a refrigerated display case (like a fresh fish market) and they cook it while you wait. I got the catfish filet dinner and a couple of shrimp. It came with coleslaw, fries, and two hush puppies. Everything was excellent although they were a little light on the fries -- but not enough to reduce the score. read more

Called in an order today, was told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. Arrived to pick up order and had to wait another 20 minutes because the order was given to another customer. When asked about the delay I was told my order had to be redone. I was delayed and asked about some compensation, I was told my order was redone. I realized that however it was not my Fault the order had to be re made. No offer to compensate me, only an apology. I think they could use a lot of Customer Service Training. I will not be returning to this place of business. They really don't care about the customers they just want to make money. So sad, I am in Healthcare just think if your doctor made an error during your surgery and only say Oh Sorry I can redo it for you. read more

I was in Dayton and wanted to get a good fish sandwich. Well Main street is the place to go. There are like 5 places on Main street to get a fish dinner. I chose the Dayton Fish Company, since it was well recommended. This place opened at 9am and was a full service seafood shop. They had everything fresh from basa catfish to mahi mahi. And they only charge a two-dollar fee to cook anything in the case! So you know I had to have a double deep fried Orange Roughy , on a wheat roll with pepper jack cheese. Now they have two types of cornmeal. The lightly seasoned for those purists who love to taste all of the flavors of a delicate fish and the extra -seasoned for that down home taste. Fries were nice and crispy. But there was an assortment of sides , with everything from collard greens to assorted cold salads. While waiting for my freshly chosen fish.... I came across an assortment of frozen goodies like gator, conch, and others. The set up was for carryout. It was easy to get to, just west of Downtown Dayton, but since the freezers were locked - It may not have been the best of neighborhoods. read more

Fish is good but they have a new policy. Not a problem if the person taking the order tells you of new policy or better yet they could give him the calculator function on his phone and add up the order and tell you. Nope didn't do that either. He calls me back as I am driving to pickup the order to tell me my order is over the $50 limit yes it is by 2.15. So I tell him I am driving to get my order now. I get there they can't find my order. Oh yeah if I came then I guess I plan to.pay for food. Didn't cook it till I paid. Now me common sense says if someone says they are coming right now, I would at least start the order. No didn't do that either. I live in downtown Dayton and was looking for a local Fish market. I took to google and found the Dayton Fish Co. I punched in their address into my GPS and went in search of some fresh seafood. The town it's in (Riverdale/ N. Dayton) is beyond seedy. I counted exactly four places selling rims during my 3 mile trek. When pulling in I thought I had been duped. The place looks like an old, run down, version of Captain D's. I even muttered to myself "I don't think I'm supposed to be here." I almost turned around and went home but decided to check it out anyway and I'm glad I did. They've got a great selection of fresh seafood ranging from sea and bay scallops to smelt. Proof positive that it's never wise to judge a book by it's cover. Granted, I won't be doing any night shopping here but I think I've found "my" fresh seafood market. I can go to Meijer or Kroger but would rather not. read more

Service could be better. Some of staff need sensitivity training and better communication skills when talking to customers. Good customer service makes you want to come back and make a purchase again. I don't think l received curteous sevice and the worker acted like they didn't care and it was done in front of other customers. Fresh fish cooked to order, grilled or fried. It is the only place in the Miami Valley that grills fish. You do have to get there 1 hour before they close for grilled fish. It is in a rather rough neighborhood and I don't spend any additional time hanging around the area. I wish they would open a store in a better neighborhood. If you love fresh fish and seafood this is the place to go. You are not going there for a five star sit down meal. What they have and what they do, they do well. read more
