Jay rebuilt the automatic transmission on my ford ranger and also repaired the air conditioning at a reasonable price. I highly recommend him! read more

Came same day I called - every garage I called made it clear don't hold my breath waiting for them to have an opening. Considering it was a Saturday one of the more hectic days for a mechanic I expected that was going to be my experience. He arrived at a reasonable time and replaced the starter on my car efficiently and quickly and at a fair price (I took the liberty of getting some quotes before.) Pretty colorful guy... But I've dealt with enough mechanics and know enough about cars to recognize someone who knows what they're doing under the hood. The guy is a legit car mechanic. read more

I Called this guy jay about a repair I needed on my car. I believe it was not jay that answered, but a Latin guy, partner/helper. I was asked to send pictures, so I sent several pictures. Waited for a reply but never heard back, nothing!. In retrospect I'm glad I got ignored by this guy. After checking reviews, this guy had left a customer high and dry in San Francisco as well as others. He had done some work on this guys car, radiator, thermostat, Ect. Apparently the car overheated right after the repair. The customer called him for help but he didn't answer his phone!. His excuse was he wanted spend time with his family?. All he had to do was call this customer back?. Communicating with your customers is the cornerstone of good business!. Ignoring customers is a good way to lose valuable return customers. Personally, I would look for someone legitimate that you could rely on long term! read more

My daughter car broke down two weeks after buying it a 2016 Toyota Camry. I happen to go on craigslist looking for a mechanic that was near my daughter. I spoke with Jay. He did inform me he would need to do a diagnostic as well as gave me a reasonable price, was upfront about the possibilities this was something that I personally appreciated about him. Honest, kind and reliable. This man fixed my daughter's went above and beyond. Very professional ! I would definitely recommend. Thank you !! read more

Jay said he'd send someone out. I waited all day - nobody showed up. I called Jay to ask what happened. He said he'd send someone - same thing, different day. Don't waste your time with these flakes. read more

Came and did my car, twice, now. First time was a starter and now, no surprise, it was the alternator. He's a great guy that diagnoses the problem and then tells you what needs doing and what it'll cost. Both times I was pretty certain what needed changing and he was able to confirm things for me. I found his prices reasonable and didn't have to do an extra tow to get to a garage. He's definitely made me into a repeat customer! read more

Came and did my car, didn't charge much at all and was fast. Quick and professional and communicated well. Thanks Jay for your service!!! read more

Jay provided a great service and quality parts. He helped replace my alternator. He came out to my house which was ideal because my car couldn't operate with the broken alternator. That helped me save some money on a tow truck to a mechanic. It took him less than an hour to replace the part and install the new one. Definitely a fair price for the service and part. Thanks Jay! read more

So very helpful! I had a dead battery on a big van, and AAA had tried to help me twice unsuccessfully. Jay was able to help, then drove with me to another location so we could charge the battery a bit and get out of the way of the businesses where the van was parked... I also have a trickle charge set-up that I wanted to make sure was in place, and he was kind enough to stick around to check my set-up. I will definitely be calling him again with any other vehicle needs. The vehicle is a 2005 Ford E-350 Super Duty van with a 6.0L diesel engine and 277,000 miles on it. read more

Very efficient and extremely fair with his pricing! He replaced a starter for my car within 20 minutes. Jay comes highly recommended as you can see with the reviews. For all your automotive needs call Jay! read more

I needed to get some work done on my car - new struts and brakes - and was looking for a good place to get this done. I came across Jay and all the good reviews he has and decided to go with him, and I'm glad I did! Jay met me at my place to pick up my car and got the work done quickly. He called to let me know about a couple of other things that he suggested be done and gave me estimates for those as well so I could decide what to do. The pricing was very reasonable and I feel like the work done was quality and Jay stands by his work. After getting the new brake pads, I noticed a squeaking in my front tires when I braked after my car had been sitting for a while so I called Jay back up to let him know about this and he came the next day to put on a different brand of brake pads, which solved the problem. I'm very happy with his work and will be going to him again in the future. read more

Jay was really great and courteous. My car had been stolen and the battery was taken out. I replaced the battery and it still wouldn't start. I thought it was the starter or something else that would cost over 400.00. Jay arrived at my house, straight to the job, no nonsense. I was just expecting an estimate, but he was able to find the program, went to the store and bought and replaced the fuse (I didn't even know the battery had a fuse), and it was up and running within 30 minutes. I am recommending him to all my friends and colleagues!!! Please spread the word! read more

I recently had an electrical issue with my 2006 Honda Civic, and was not sure if it was the battery, the alternator, or the starter (it seemed that it could've been all of them). After trying to jump and refill my battery's water myself, I finally gave in and called Jay, who arrived on the scene within the hour, and began figuring out where exactly my problem was. After trying in vain to charge the shot battery, he literally went and got me a new one, came back, put it in, and after that didn't work he was convinced it was the starter. He had it towed to his place in El Sobrante, and said that it'd be ready the next morning. I get a call at 7 saying he's fixed it and I can come and get it if I want- the dude offered to pay for my Uber ride. When I get there, he charged me 250 dollars less than what I'd estimated and less than what he'd said it would cost earlier in the day. He's a super great guy, and is super busy juggling at least three cell phones in his left breast pocket. Don't ask him bullshit questions- he's straight forward and he'll give it to you straight. I highly recommend using Jay if you live in the East Bay, and aren't prone to asking the aforementioned bullshit questions. read more

If you're stressed, worried, and pulling out hair while trying to find a good mechanic, call up Jay's Mobile Auto Repair! I noticed a clutch problem in my 1990 Mazda Miata two weeks ago, and I spent a whole week trying to find a good mechanic who could give me an honest and reasonable quote and respond to my messages. I don't know much about cars, but I want my mechanic to. Finally after that week, I found Jay's number, called, and knew right away I had found a straight-forward and smart mechanic. After diagnosing the problem, he gave me a clear quote and even explained to me what was going on with the hydraulics connected to my clutch. It was nice to learn more about the car I'm driving. He also made it easy to coordinate picking up and dropping off of my car...hassle free! Jay works with you, to get your car fixed and to help reduce stress surrounding car issues. He does a good job at a fair price, and he likes cars (and people). I would definitely use Jay's service again!! read more

Called Jay this morning for a broken alternator. He was at our place with a new part within an hour and quickly replaced the part with the car in the driveway (on a heavy slant) while we continued about our morning. He's a lifesaver. Reasonable pricing too. Thanks!! read more

I called Jay to replace my front brake pads, something I was told I needed done by the regular shop I usually go to. When he arrived, he took off the wheels and showed me that they were at 75% and nowhere close to needing to be changed. He checked the back ones too which were also fine but needed to be cleaned and required a few adjustments. He saved me hundreds of dollars with his honesty and everything was done within forty minutes. While taking care of this job, he noticed my bumper was cracked and said he could fix that too if I wanted to and the same day. Within an hour and a half, he had picked up the new bumper, returned, and completed the job. His rates are extremely reasonable (hundreds of dollars less than I was quoted by any garage!) and he is very professional. Don't waste your time with garages that need to charge higher prices to take care of their overhead and tell you thing that need to be fixed which don't! read more

Jay is the man. This guy is no nonsense, fair prices, and gets straight to the job. I recently broke my ankle and was in need of a quick spark plug change on my E36 BMW so I could get a smog. I couldn't stand so I couldn't do the job myself. Within a couple hours of making a call to Jay, he showed up at my house and the spark plug job was done in a professional manner and very quick. We had agreed on a fair flat rate for the work and he even helped with a broken radiator fan shroud. He takes pride in his work and went the extra mile so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his work to anyone. +100 for Jay's Mobile Auto Repair Quick, Professional, Honest, Funny guy. read more

Jay was a great help today. I was changing my rotors and break pads on both my cars. I got stuck and wanted to give up. I called jay and he came by and finished my elantra quick at my place. Then I decided to change the rotors on my bmw at jay's place. He finished rotors and break pads fast again. Both cars I got a great deal. Actually gave me a discount because I did half the work. His wife is a mechanic and told me to go her for auto body work in Emeryville. I asked about fixing my fender. I recommend to hire him. You won't regret it. read more

This man is a GENIUS!!!! So polite and funny. My car broke down and I didnt know what to do so I called Jay and he drove from San Pablo to bay point /pittsburg to check and see what was going on. Broken water pump on my Mercedes Benz smh! He immediately called a tow truck, gave me ride to grab some food then hertz in San Pablo to rent a car. Jay turned my frown into a smile and saved me MONEY$$$$$$. read more

My car randomly wouldn't start one day. It was a very hectic morning and I had a ton of things to do. And worst of all, it was parked temporarily at the wrong place - so I would have gotten a parking ticket soon. Thankfully, I found Jay. He came out and found the problem in just a few minutes. The starter was broken. He went and got a new starter, and installed it right away. Worked great! read more

Jay did ANOTHER stellar, cheap, fast, and solid job for us. Clutch pedal popped out and dropped to the floor. We knew it wasn't a big deal, you could see the part just hanging from inside our truck. It just needed to be connected back again..at least that's how it looked. Turns out was a pin that fell out or broke. Jay was ON IT. He almost rigged a replacement part just from a bolt he found in his tool box in his car, but offered to find the actual part if he could locate it. So, he returned the following day and it was done. Clutch now works fine. We've used him before and he's done a great job. Will continue to call him in the future. It's a little bit hard to hear him properly sometimes, but still well worth calling his service. thanks again Jay! read more

Jay came out to check out my car within 15 minutes of having called him! I was having brake noises and was concerned that it might be serious. Called and texted many times .... never answered. Advertise as quick to respond. You have a better chance of hitting the power ball than to hear from him or should I wait for the caravan of illegal mechanics to arrive? read more

After unsuccessfully attempting to jump my dead battery, and not finding any service stations open on a holiday, I called Jay. He was responsive and arrived quickly to diagnose the problem as a bad starter (in addition to a dead battery). He changed everything on the spot in about 30 minutes and had me driving again. From what I could tell from a quick Google search, his pricing was reasonable as well. Thank you! read more

First time I called, I asked for an estimate. He refused to give me a price. I asked how much he charged per hour, again same result. He asked if I had time. I responded, sure, I left the keys under the seat, and got to work on bike. About 5 or 6 pm, Jay came and fixed the wiring underneath my steering wheel, which was keeping my car from starting. This was on a Sunday, worked on it for only an hour and a half. By the time I got home, he was upset because he had finished working on it 15 minutes earlier than when I had arrived. He had already known beforehand I would be riding my bike home... Perhaps this is why the bill was so high. $200 flat. He fixed the car - great. But in the end, it cost me more than I bargained for. I really don't know the level of difficulty of the job. Perhaps his continuous calling was to reassure me that the car would be just fine. I just think he may be a bit overpriced. read more

I 100% trust Jay to repair my car in a timely manner and not overcharge me. I first met Jay when my car needed a serious tuneup and I needed my car to be repaired ASAP. I called Jay and he came right over to pickup my car and see what was going on with it. He called me after assessing the damage to let me know what parts he would need to purchase. He made the repairs and had my car back to me within a day. He has worked on my thirteen year old car three times over the last three years and has kept it going strong. I have found that Jay is consistently kind and reasonable with pricing. I will not go to any other mechanic in the Bay Area! read more

Honest guy that will charge you 50% less than a shop mechanic. He worked on my car overnight and I spent $800 instead of the $3,000 the shop wanted to charge me for a new rack and pinion. In fact I just passed his number on to a friend who's car broke down today :-) His number is saved in my phone! read more

I called Jay to fix the AC in a 2007 Prius car and the dashboard and all the retail shops I called--about 6-7 auto repair companies-- said it would take weeks to find the problem and find the parts and told me a hefty price beyond what I could afford. I also watched Youtube videos on how to fix the AC for a Prius and how to find the problem first for example to learn the vocabulary and have visuals when I talk to mechanics of other shops and follow what they have to say since I don't know much about cars. I brought my car to Jay and he figured out the problem in less than 5 minutes and he gives an approximate estimate that is reasonable because sometimes additional issues can be revealed after taking the car apart associated with the main repair issue and that is exactly what happened with this car. Jay could have told me it will take many more days to fix the additional issues in addition to the main problem and inflated the price so much compared to retail but Jay pulled magic out of his hat to find the parts and still get the car repaired on time --done in two days--and charge me a reasonable additional fee not far of of the original estimate and he saved me so much money compared to going to a retail shop!!!!! WOW!! Jay is very knowledgeable and to the point. He is customer-service oriented more so after the the job is done to explain everything to the customer. He gets things done! He saved me so I could continue to do rideshare to continue to work to make income and not have my coffers cleaned out. He is honest and to the point so you know the truth. He will call and text you immediately if there is another issue and what is needed to fix it to stay on the timeline. He did an amazing job with the 2007 Prius so I could have AC in hot weather picking up passengers from rideshare. Jay can help fix your car to get it to pass inspection for Lyft and Uber. He is efficient. Call and leave a message with him and when he gets back to you be on the ball because Jay works fast to get your car fixed and up and running for you. Regardless of the outcome, what I like best about Jay is that he tells you the truth no matter what and has reasonable prices. I trust him after this fantastic job he did on the Prius. I am now using Jay for my other car...His work is guaranteed and based on my Prius repair experience, he is a good person. If you are a rideshare driver this is the mechanic go to person to get you back on the road!!!!!!! read more

I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS but people should know about this guy. I called him and gave him my address, he came over speeding down the street, reverses into my driveway hecka fast and my neighbor asked him to slow down too - i don't think he liked that. i just wanted ONE brake caliper put on with a PAIR of brake pads. The brake line was fine (he checked that himself), the caliper was already removed, i had the brakes brand new in the box and i asked him how much he charged. He told me 60bucks!!! I said that was too much, i was thinking 30bucks he said he wouldn't even take his tools out for that much. On his way back to his car he said he'd do it for 50bucks, he said, "All you have to do is take two bolts off." (WELL THEN WHY THE HECK ARE YOU TRYING TO CHARGE ME SO MUCH) i didn't say anything but i thought it, i was just done with him. He said nobody will do it for less. i just called another guy and he said he'd do it for 20bucks no problem. I have to mention his demeanor because it wasn't friendly at all and i just felt something was wrong with him. He did ask for some water to take his meds which might explain his behavior. read more

Jay was awesome!! Super trustworthy and helpful guy. I was going to buy a used car and wanted Jay to perform an inspection for me. Not only did he answer the phone on a Sunday, but he gave me useful advice and warned me about potential battery issues about the particular car. I wanted someone to clean the vomit (left it completely untouched from the night prior) in the front passenger seat because I could not handle the smell. There were chunks underneath, on the seat, the side of the door, and a little liquid pool of ick in the little pocket near the door handle. I texted Jay in the morning and got a reply in an hour. I am so glad that he was able to drive to my house to completely clean the seat, sides, and underneath. I can drive in my car again without having to hold my breath, and I am super happy with how clean and spotless it looks! read more

My brakes started making a metal on metal whining sound. By day 2, I was getting really worried. I called the traditional brake and auto repair shops and was told $175 or $195 plus tax. And no one would give an estimate of how long they needed my car. Then I had an inspiration to look on craiglist for a mobile mechanic. And that is how I found Jay. What a blessing. He came right over and said the metal whining was a warning so don't freak out. We decided that it would make more sense for him to leave his truck at my place and he would take my car and go put on new brake pads and put some gas in it for me since it was close to empty and bring it back. And ta-dah! about 90 minutes later my car came back!!!! Happy Happy Happy. And at a very reasonable price. so... TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT JAY....seriously. :-) read more
