As tempted as you may be, do NOT pass by this place. The food is fantastic with incredibly generous portions. Very friendly staff. The only down side is their new hours to support their new location closer to NDs campus to the south. read more

My daughter and son in law had their after wedding party at Jay's and had a really nice time. Great pizza and the beer prices were very reasonable. The staff was attentive to our needs and were very nice. Thanks Jay's. read more

You only get service if you're a regular. Old lady with glasses always working the day shift has worse attitude I've ever seen at a bar. She must really hate her life. Shitty service, poorly maintained bar, at least the food is good. That's the only thing keeping this place open... No wonder they serve $1 beers...no one would tolerate it otherwise read more

We had a big party last night around 7pm. The server (sorry, I never got her name), but she was on top of EVERYTHING from the second we walked in the door. Accommodated our party, moved all the tables and chairs around, had drinks out FAST. She was friendly, bubbly, and very helpful. I think everyone at the table ordered something different. Everything was delicious. They had rhe food out fairly quick for the amount of food, but one meal was missed. We had enough food to share, but the server handled this, as well. She immediately boxed the item to go. The entire time she was attentive. Very much appreciated especially after a funeral service. read more

They're doing everything they can during COVID. Stop in, eat outside in the tent with propane heaters, order to go... do what it takes to help put LOCAL business!! My experiences over the past 5 years have typically been very good. It's a local fav with plenty of nightly specials that suit your fancy. Just go. Order wings, the Cuban sandwich (!), Chicago dog, or whatever else! Support your local restaurants please. Especially those in Michigan! read more

I've been coming here for years now, and the food is always good. Can't beat the $1 busch lights. During Notre Dame games, they always hand out jello shots when ND scores. It's not a bad seat in the place, especially when the game is on. read more

When traveling from IN this place is just into MI. Great wings and beer - knowledgeable waitress. A lot of fun!

Great first visit to Jay's, and luckily we chose a Tuesday. $4 burger specials, and a wide variety of craft beers. I tried a sample of a Peanut butter dark beer from Rochester Mills brewery. Sort of mocha, too. Went right to the black and blue burger...more than a meal. This sports bar is located in Niles, MI, just north of the Indiana State line, only 5 miles from Notre Dame campus. read more

If I could make it 10 stars, I would! The service is great. Prompt friendly and spot on with orders. The food was amazing. The burgers are huge and homemade. Not those package hockey pucks. The toppings and the sauces homemade and incredibly delicious. The serving portions are huge so go with a big appetite. This may be a bar but this is not bar food on the menu. The prices are reasonable especially considering the size of the portions. Highly recommend. We dined inside but they also have patio dining. read more

I love jays but if you get the girl with the short black hair who wears baggy shirts, short shorts, and crocs.. run. HORRIBLE service from her tonight- lacked communication, effort, and charisma; didn't even bother to tell us her name. She caused a scene when we didn't tip her great after horrible service, she left dirty plates on our table that sat there for 2+ hours with us while we waited on a to-go order that was only a pizza and a cheeseburger. I genuinely would have cut her some slack if there was at least a bit of communication but there was none. I understand that sometimes we get busy at work but she seemed unhappy with us for simply coming to dinner when we were polite to her even after being there for so long. Hope her day gets better than mine was. Food was great but unfortunately the experience was not. read more

Terrible service. There was nobody in the restaurant and it still took over an hour to receive our food. Server was rude and not helpful when ordering. This place sucks. read more

Would give zero stars if i could. Do not not recommend unless you want to get screamed at , expensive for horrible service, thats all I'm gonna say. read more

I came here frequently my senior year of college. It quickly became a hotspot for fellow college students. The menu is basically endless, options for everyone (even the pickiest eater like myself) Not to mention extraordinarily cheap (another bonus for college kids). They offer good deals along with even greater staff. A truly great place to relax and enjoy some good food read more

If you like surly waitresses and bartenders who don't give a heck about you or your order then this is the place for you. Food is average at best and woe to you if you order your meat cooked to a certain temp. they will bring you out what they want to bring you. Highly suggest you find another place as there are a lot of better places within a 15 minute drive. read more

First time there, last time also. Walked in and it looked like the waitress was in her underwear. Then realized they were shorts. Guess good for tips. She definitely didn't have a personality so I guess you gotta do, what you gotta do. Food was terrible. Except for the cottage cheese. Can't screw that up. Avoid for sure read more

Love Jay's, specifically for their wing night(s) on Mon & Wed. Wings are super solid and a great value. Can't argue with the $1 Busch & Busch Light cans either. The waitstaff is usually on top of things; every so often things might get a little slow, but on busy nights, they certainly have their hands full and do a wonderful job considering the low staff-to-customer ratio! Most (if not all) of the staff is generally very polite and friendly as well. Worth mentioning that most of the food on the menu is quite tasty - I typically get wings, but have sampled their nachos, pizza, burgers, fried chicken, and have always been happy with what I have eaten. I've been here many times and will continue to return. read more

went to Jay's Friday night where their was a live band which was great! I was very disappointed in the service and it was because there was only one server outside and it was crowded. my bill was wrong and when I tried to question it I was put off. The place says it's open till 2:30 in the morning. We got there at 1:15 AM. And they would not let us in saying they did last call already. So we had to wait outside in the cold for a ride. They said they don't let people like me in here. read more

Jays used to be the go to spot for awesome food. We ate there as a group yesterday and it was terrible.....Hard overcooked 11$ fries with no topping hardly def not Home Run Fries....old oil and disgusting....Pizza was Burnt Black on the bottom.....I told the waitress and she just shrugged and walked away....Didnt even offer to take the fries off which were literally inedible.....42$ check for 2 terrible dishes and a small Pizza that was BARELY edible read more

Use to be our favorite place. For whatever reason the male bartender decided to cut us off after 2 hours and 3 drinks? The same bartender has served us 3 times the amount before just a couple day prior. We did notice the night he didn't care, he was drinking himself. Will take our business elsewhere read more

Horrible service. Attempted to go on a Friday night and the doors were locked yet the place was open! It was 12:05 yet witnessed them unlock door for a regular who had just arrived how do I know because I was chatting with him they claimed he had an open tab which was untrue we had just talked about his day etc . One what a safety hazard to have all doors locked but people inside and two a very rude employee named Lauren was no help saying they're not closed but the doors are which makes no sense your open but no one can go inside. I suppose Lauren just doesn't care if the establishment makes money. read more

If you don't go on Wednesday for the wing special you're crazy. At night it gets real crowded with people wanting the wings at $.45 though!!! Service can slow up too but it's not for lack of effort. Be patient. read more

Jay's is an acquired taste, and my experience here cannot be summed up in a simple Yelp review; nevertheless, I will try. Jay's isn't for the fancy-man, suit wearing type who is expecting to be pampered by a waiting staff hanging on every word in your order. This is a dive, my friends, and expecting something else prior to your arrival is no one's fault but yours (certainly not mine). Instead, Jay's is a place where friends become family, camaraderie is second nature, and Notre Dame students on Wednesdays (or, more accurately, WednesJays) enjoy 45 cent wings, 1 dollar Busch (and Busch Lite) buckets, and have to push together tables in a restaurant that really isn't big enough for the storm that comes in mid-week. Despite the overpopulation and occasional long waits, the wings are surprisingly excellent, the service and staff is incredibly nice and dedicated, and nearly every experience I have had there was positive. I should know; a group of 10 friends and I were regulars at Jay's every Wednesday for the past year and a half. I am sad to move away from South Bend, and Jay's, but the restaurant has had a legitimate impact on many lives and I hope it will continue to do so for Notre Dame students and the community at large after I am gone. read more

Jays- nothing fancy. Just a place that serves top notch wings (on special Wednesday) and bbq. Their selection of bbq/smoked meats changes every Thursday. The rest of the menu is great as well with lots of variety. The burgers are awesome. You have to be patient- there are only a couple of servers. It can take a long time for your food to come out. That is why they only got 3 stars. Food quality, taste- 5 Stars. Oh, and Busch/Busch Light cans are always only $1. (If that's your kind of thing). Usually have a great variety of taps of beer with actual flavor is more your style;) read more

We have visited this establishment for years. They have struggled with staffing, and restroom cleanliness since the start. But the nice employees and friendly smiling faces always made up for it. The food is amazingly great. Different. Authentic. Overall this is a must stop at during your football extravaganza. But Sunday night tonight was the worst. The bartender had 3 people. Was on her phone. Gone. Disappeared. Terrible service. There was one waiter Brit on the floor. She served her own food, made her own drinks. If you want decent service, take a table and skip the bar. Britany will give you great service. read more

Jay's is a great, casual place with friendly people. I love the veggie burger! They have a great patio area too.

Jays is always a great time! Cheap drinks, great wings, and Lauren, the waitress on Wednesday's, is amazing!

Kind of divey, Niles locals seem to all have fond memories of, and adore this place. You will get stared at if youre not from Niles, this isnt an super inviting place. If your looking for the best wings in town this is the place! My wife and I go just about every Sunday. Friendly staff and great drink selection. ok, this place shouldn't be called a lounge, it should just be called Jays Bar. I asked about the construction, and was told it's been like that for years. Looks a little dark inside but there are some nice upgrades. The bartender was very nice and the waitress was very nice. They needed another waitress though, cause service was lacking for lunchtime, not her fault. I ordered a Turkey club and fries. The Club was on a nice taosted bun and the turkey was hot, like cooked on a flat top. Overall, sandwich was great, and my friends enjoyed their sandwiches as well. I would have liked to try the wings, maybe next time. read more

Best wings in town...hands down. Best time to go is on wednesday. Free popcorn is a nice touch to. As far as a bar its great to, music is what keeps 8t from a 5 star. Three types of music in one bar is a bit much with three types of clubs trying to happen at once. read more
