    House special seafood noodle
    Sandy L.

Came here with my two toddler nieces. Ordered crab rangoon, chicken fried rice small, and ordered house special seafood noodle. Always come here for the crab rangoon because they are delicious with a sweet sauce. Obviously, crab rangoons are not pictures because they were devoured before we could take a picture. The chicken fried rice was delicious and the noodle were unexpected but they were also delicous with a good amount of seafood.

I spend most of my life traveling through the country and I've eaten at many Chinese joints along the way, I stopped mid meal to write this review. The food is that good. The Eggs Drop soup was thick, and deep in flavor. The egg rolls were light, and crispy. I ordered the General Tso's dinner. Big chunks of real dark meat chicken, perfectly fried with the best chili, garlicky sticky sauce ever. The fried rice had a ton of chicken, veggies and a delicious char flavor from the wok. And the píncele of the meal, their home made fried dumplings. Super stuffed with pork, scallion and spices, perfect wrapper holding in all of the meaty juices. I couldn't give this place more stars. 10/10.

You can not imagine when I tasted the JiangNan fried sauce noodles. It was so delicious and original Chinese cooked. And it's only less than $7! Guys, I'm from China. If I say this is good, it is. So put the American-Style Chinese food(like the chickens) away for a sec. Try the ORIGINALS.

Tasty wonton soup and their seafood combo is amazing. Service is great. Only reason missing a star is because Almond chicken has a brown gravy which does not taste good. Other than that, good food.

The meal began with prawn chips, which were alright. They were clearly freshly fried and seasoned heavily, but they also tasted artificial. The 6 count of oysters came out with several options of sauces and crackers. The oysters by themselves tasted like saltwater with no sweetness, so not the greatest that I've had. The star of the show, though, was the po'boy. It came out with extremely crispy breading on a large portion of catfish and a delicious remoulade on top. The fries that came with the po'boy were delicious as well; they were coated with cheese before being fried, which gave them quite a bit of flavor. These fries did not need any condiments, but Yvette went and got ketchup for me anyways at my request. I was surprised at the quality of the food despite it being a chain. If anything, I will at least be back for another po'boy.

The menu is a Middle Eastern take on fish and shrimp. Most entrees can be ordered grilled or fried. All the seafood is on display at the restaurant counter, all looking very fresh. My dinner companion and I had spicy golden pomfret, which the waiter said was the restaurant's signature dish, and fish skewers. The golden pomfret, a whole fish, was spicy, but underneath the spicy coating, perfectly grilled, delicate and tender. The fish skewers were mildly seasoned but also delicately done. This was fish that tasted like we were dining in an ocean state, not the Midwest. The portions were generous, as was the house salad. Spice is the name of the game here. Since we were first-timers, the restaurant gave us a complimentary eggplant and pepper appetizer, like baba ghannoush but with a real kick. The red shrimp soup had a spicy red broth, cut slightly by the coolness of chopped shrimp. The antidote to the spiciness was a glass of lemon mint juice. It tasted of fresh mint and cut right through any lingering heat to cool down the mouth. The restaurant, a storefront in a shopping plaza, was immaculately clean, with good service. The only thing missing was the crowd Aliz Seafood House is sure to attract.

Nice bread basket. Handmade table-side Caesar salad $17 for four servings. Good French onion soup, chops and lobster tail. The sour cream for the baked potato contained fresh cut chive. Delicious. CONS: Weird parking, seating cramped like sardines. Saturday evening dining room was LOUD! Could barely converse. Food is expensive: Tomahawk steak $90+. Ribeye $55+. New York Strip $50+. Most everything was ala carte. Disappointed that the Sander's hot fudge cream puff did not contain hot fudge anywhere near the taste and quality of the old Sanders recipe. Cream puff was stale too. A strong seafood smell permeated the entire restaurant. SUMMARY: Mr. Paul's Chophouse is a REAL restaurant for those special occasions. Total East side. Food is very good but not "great". This is one of those unfortunate instances where I wish I could give a 3.5* rating. Everything was ok, but definitely not great. The place is loud, and way too bright, especially for an intimate experience after 8:30pm or so. We would have loved to stick around for another couple cocktails, if the cocktails and ambience were good, they weren't. The "craft cocktail" ol' fashioned was improperly garnished w/ a whole 1/4 of an orange slice, instead of the peel, it was improperly essenced, and had an improper amount of simple syrup. It was essentially a shot of bourbon with a cherry and an orange peel. Tasted terrible. The drink lacked all of the taste and trappings of the advertised craft "burnt sugar" old fashioned. Additionally, they use a 1/2 of an ice ball, which would not have been offensive, if the rest of the drink was up to par, but as it was, the cocktail seemed cheap and off-putting. 2.0/10 My date ordered a "figgy sweater," a citrusy cocktail with vodka, also off of the "craft cocktails" menu. Her drink had the opposite problem. It tasted like a lemonade with no alcohol at all, or watered down alcohol. She's a fairly lightweight that does not like strong drinks, gets tipsy off of two, and she complained throughout its consumption that the drink seemed weak and not worth ordering another. 2.0/10 We were both interested in another cocktail, but due to the loud nature of the place, the over abundance of light, and the poorly crafted cocktails, we drove to another establishment for our second round. Food ordered: Seafood Chowder - Great job, delicious, ample seafood throughout 9.5/10 Brisket Poutine - Good but it lacked cheese curds and gravy. 7.0/10 Beef tenderloin tips - terrible... the dish came out cold, we ordered the GF option, and the bread substitute was gross. The dish was overly salty, and the beef was way, way over cooked; not even medium well, most of it was well done, and tough; this was $30 wasted, we barely touched it and it's still in the fridge two days later. I'll likely throw it out. 2.0/10 Chicken Fried Lobster - nice dish, I hated the dill, but my date licked it. The dill aside, it was delicious; nice presentation, great tasting waffle, w/ well favored garnishes. However, the dish was barely warm when it came out, the ricotta/cream soaked into the waffle, and it was soggy. If it came out of the kitchen promptly it would have likely been better. 7.0/10 I'd consider ordering the chicken fried waffle again, but bad cocktails will likely keep me away. It's tough to pay $30+ in bad cocktails to accompany a $100+ meal. I'd strongly suggest turning down the lights after 8:30pm or so, and installing some noise canceling/light panels to bring the ceiling height down, quiet the place down some, and make it seem more intimate. The two tables opposite the the kitchen, in the damn hallway to the bathroom, should either be gotten rid of, made into high-tops, or install a lower counter-service along that wall for a "chef's experience." Those tables absolutely suck. We sat at them at our first visit, they tried to sit us there for our 2nd visit, but moved us after our objection. I laughed a bit throughout our meal as the people that were subsequently seated at those tables complained during their meal of the constant bumps, and interruptions that come with the territory. Finally, our waitress did a great job. The food runner was late on a couple of our dishes, resulting in cold food, but the waitress' service seemed great.

Absolutely delicious appetizer! The basket of fresh Italian bread and olive oil for dipping was put to use with our glasses of Chianti and then enjoyed very soon as an olive oil topped bread base for our well-placed trio of this gorgeous appetizer. Next, for the salad, we chose to split the "Charred (on a hot coal grill !) Our dinner started with easy to make reservations for four for a Friday night. Once arrived we were promptly seated and introductions made, Annie was our server(and more). I had note seen the menu in over a year so I personally was delighted to see plenty of ocean going features, specifically the grilled Octopus, shellfish and more. Before the food everyone agreed on a drink. Everyone tried something different than the others. Drinks included a Chocolate Martini, Limoncello(homemade) like grandma made it) Martini, Tanqueray and Tonic and Makers Mark Old fashioned for me. Everyone agreed the drinks were just right. Annie was then asked to bring out some Grilled Octopus. A HUGE and thick long leg was then served. DELICIOUS! Dinner was ordered with some questions(by me). I was intrigued by the Black Linguine. Basically a fruit de Mare or shellfish but with white wine. I asked for a subscription to a spicy red pasta sauce, not available. However, my friends wife chose this and said it was delicious. My friend and also my opted for the table side Carbonara. Basically a long sting pasta with a cheese wheel at the table. The cheese gets heated up and then scraped and put into the pasta. Our cheese scraper was entertaining and put on a nice show. For me, I decided on the Branzino, which was served whole but deboned at the table, with sauteed spinach. From the first bite, I was in heaven. We then had a second round of drinks, the girls switched things up and went for Cosmos, us guys repeated what we had earlier. Lastly, we just had to have dessert and were we glad we did. Both couple opted to share with one another. Our friends chose the Profiterole which they said was delicious. However, everyone loved our choice; Nicciola Mousse Tart. This is a MUST get. I can't even describe it other than I should have gotten one for the road. This place also had some soft entertainment, keyboard player. So glad we made the journey here. Highly recommend it!
