Choosing Jay Seth Photography for our wedding was one of the easiest decisions in the planning process. My now husband had been researching photographers before we were even engaged. He felt very inspired by Jay's portfolio and when it came time to choose a photographer for our wedding, Jay was our top choice. During our first meeting with Jay, we learned that he had done previous work in both of our chosen venues and he already had a vision of the shots we should capture. We booked Jay shortly after our engagement. He was the photographer for quite a few family weddings, and he was highly recommended, and now we know why. What can I say about Jay, let me start by how helpful he was in the build up to my engagement. I first contacted Jay last year from London to see if he could capture the moment I proposed to my now fiance and he couldn't of done any more if he tried! We even lost contact for a few days as my English phone wouldn't call his american number!! I was recently gifted a present to have Jay come and take pics of my family of 4 (two toddler 6 and 4 years old). Jay was such a pleasure to work with. He came with his assistant Justice and BOTH of them worked WONDERS with my kids. My kids warmed up to them in less than 10 min and hammed it up for them on the camera. I never wrote comments in Yelp before, but this time, I have to do that for Jay -- because I think he is so great! and it is my first Yelp post. :D This is how I found Jay-- After several weeks' research (oh yes, I do mean research, I made a comprehensive document around 10 photographers that I narrowed down to, with notes about their styles, price, ratings, studio location, some samples, available dates, etc) on photographers in NYC area, my husband helped me to further narrow the list to 5. Jay is the second photographer we visited, and I decided there is no need to keep researching any more. :) We met Jay and Elvis three times for shooting, two times in casual outfit, and one time in wedding dress! Most of all, all of the pictures are not only really artistic but also conveys the really true us. I think I am pretty picky in photos, but I love Jay's work very much! I am extremely happy with all of the pictures, so we schedule shootings with them time and time again! Secondly, what I really love working with Jay and Elvis is that they have a way to elicit just the right emotion of you. For me, I think the wedding pictures are to convey the happiness and harmoniousness, so at least you want to feel comfortable and like the artist you are working with. Jay and Elvis has the right amount of humor, politeness, and professionalism, and I would say it is so entertaining and enjoyable to spend every minute with them. Thirdly, I think they are really trying to discover and capture the real you. They REALLY THINK FOR YOU! There was once when we were about to leave when finishing the shooting session, but Jay and Elvis suddenly discovered that my feet would be worthy another picture. They proposed that we should do a feature of that, and I posed. They went all the troubles to take their devices out, and THINK, and try to shoot me till they captured the right light and angel. These pictures turned out to be among my favorites! I think if they were not that acute in observing us, be that serious and that careful, they would not even pay attention to this moment, and I would not have missed those favorites! Fourthly, I think every picture they shoot is creative works. It is creative and nice, but it does NOT reach the degree that you would think the pictures are too novel or even crazy. I had checked some works of other photographers when I was researching for us, but I think some pictures by other photographers are just like --- yes, it would be something that look good if it is hanged in a museum/gallery. For pictures that capture my life, I would prefer the ones shoot by Jay and Elvis,- the ones that make you feel it is something about YOURSELF, instead of a commercial poster about someone else. I sincerely recommend Jay and Elvis to my friends, because I truly think they are great people and artists. In addition, I think I would not be so happily married if my wedding photos were not liked by me. I feel very lucky it is such a great memory!!!! read more
