Dr. Heller is an essential part of my fitness routine! I began seeing him in November when a bad fall left me with severe neck pain and vertigo. Since then he has treated almost every physical ailment that I have with a variety of techniques. We began with adjustments to relieve my neck and upper back pain. Although an adjustment can be uncomfortable, the results are simply fantastic. One back adjustment that takes 30 seconds gives me relief that I couldnt get from daily back massages. After he fixed by back and neck he began using Cold Laser to treat the torn ligaments in my ankle. I have felt significant pain relief and improvement with the Cold Laser, and even convinced my husband to try it on his arthritic knees. Most recently, I have been suffering from Jaw pain. I spoke with my dentist and my sports med guy but no one really offered any viable solutions. I was very frightful of going to a chiropractor but after injuring both shoulders and having chronic pain, and after seeing multiple doctors who just offered more and more drugs, I wanted something natural. I went to see Dr. Heller very last minute on a Monday morning after I hurt by upper back and neck over the weekend. I could barely move and the pain was making it hard for me to even breathe. His secretary was very friendly and got me in right away. He could tell I was in a lot of pain and kindly helped me into an examining room where he found the problem and got to work. He was very helpful with explaining everything he thought was wrong. After my adjustment I felt much better but still not 100%, the damage was that bad. He invited me to come back again later that day for another adjustment and have it be included in my first copay. After the second session I felt great. Went home after and had a good nights sleep and after slowly working out the muscles myself I felt great. I read a review that someone said as a woman she felt uncomfortable with him. Dr Jay Heller is a great chiropractor. I have been coming to him for 6 years now, to deal with my endometriosis and chronic back pain. Her uses laser and percurssor machine with great results. My pain has decrease a great deal. He also uses computerized spinal examination to identify problems in your back. He is really through; he even sent me to get x-ray of my back. He is not just cracking bones here people - he is the whole package. He also uses heat to relax my muscles before the adjustment. When I got plantar faciatis, he recommended this costume made insoles that saved my life. I was unable to stand of my feet for long periods of times due to my plantar faciatis (I'm a nurse), but after I started using the insoles I feel like a new person . Dr. Heller is a true healer for both body and soul. I've been going to him for at least 15 yrs. He makes you feel like family and treats you as such. I have a back problem for many years and every time I come running to him in pain he immediately addresses the issue with soothing calmness and humor to beat. Wow. Dr Heller is actually a magician. After a stressful week and pinching a nerve in my neck twice, only four days apart, I found Dr Heller's practice. He started by listening to everything that was bothering me and then proceeded to put heat on my neck / upper back, which quickly became the best 8 mins of my day. Dr. Heller, while he makes good adjustments, is a rather creepy person in an odd office. Not only does he have sexually offending jokes on the walls, he also crosses the lines with his female clients. I felt not comfortable with him from the beginning, and in our fourth session he kissed me on my cheeks, which was completely unprofessional and was clearly crossing the doctor/client boundaries. My husband has been going to dr Heller for awhile and always raved about him. I unfortunately threw my back out last week so also had to go and see him, first time ever to a chiropractor . I've been going to Jay on and off for the past few years and just ADORE him, his uber-professional, warm and considerate care, super comfy and intimate best-kept secret West Village office and welcoming staff. Perfect too for a first-time chiropractic experience, especially for those who are bigtime cowards and terrified by the idea of getting this type of (holistic) treatment, too. Which I must say I was so representative of the first time I practically dragged myself to see him for a minor problem and then after, for a truly traumatic injury, resulting from a terrible accident that badly injured my writing/computer use hand. But instead of having to face spending the rest of my life with a wrist held together with steel pins, to say nothing of going into the hospital for an operation that MIGHT restore the use of my hand (something I am totally adverse to and absolutely dreaded the idea of), I opted to go back to my trusty chiropractor instead who, within a short time, by administering a series of cold laser treatments to the injured paw (and who also buoyed up my spirits with kind and reassuring words of encouragement), I then was able to go back to almost 100%...this after believing I would be maimed (from this first-time broken bone) for life, too! And due to being tethered to my computer for my business, I then later developed sciatic back pains for which again, I went back to Dr. Heller for - but foolishly didn't give the treatments enough time to kick in, and opted instead to try a series of other methods for a quick holistic fix for the problem, including acupuncture, massage, trigger point therapy, etc., but nothing seemed to address the issue. So I will once more be going back to who I consider "the miracle healer", to totally get this bod realigned and adjusted into pain-free shape again. And I know all my aforesaid sentiments are echoed by those of his loyal family of patients, including regulars the likes of Abbi Jacobson and the rest of the Broad City cast (which btw, Jay recently appeared on in a cameo performance!), the famed American-Brazilian chanteuse, Bebel Gilberto and (I've heard), as well as members of intertional royalty (no names, please...), too. Oh, I should also mention that Dr. Jay accepts many types of insurance (and his services too, are so affordable), his office is conveniently open five weekdays with hours, as well, on the first Saturday of the month, he and his staff will go out of their way to make arrangements for emergency appointments and another reason I just look forward to my visits there is his terrific sense of humor that puts me in such a great mood, both anticipating going to and then leaving his office!
