Dr. Yu King is one of the best chiropractors I have ever met. I personally love that he can be a hybrid chiro and physical therapist. I have played basketball most of my life and at the highest level being part of the Philippine National women's team. I have had my share of physical therapists and chiropractors over the years, but Dr. Yu King literally has won my heart. There are just some things chiropractors can do (and can't do) and some things that physical therapists can do (and can't do), but he has proven that he has found the perfect balance for both. And for that, I am thankful. My third session here and my review, came here for my lower back and shoulder stiffness. I was suprised after my first session, my shoulder neck area stiffness was relieved. Dr. Wong also helped correct my lower back pain, correcting my form when doing deadlifts. He also explained during that time of the month lower back pain is common. Short story - if you have any tightness/soreness no matter how dull or mild, see Dr. Wong! Long story - I've had two appointments with Dr. Wong and I am so glad I did. His professionalism and expertise is on point. During both appts he had a sort of diagnose/adjust/teach & prevent method. He would let me explain what I felt needed to be worked on, he would then identify what exactly needed to be done, then he'd do his magic and after that he'd tell and teach me HOW I can prevent it from becoming a problem again. The best part is that he's able to identify my problem areas even if when I can't articulate whats wrong! In my case, being active duty military, I've been dealing with pains and aches that I largely ignore because I've just accepted it as a fact of life with the strenuous activity we do. Specifically, I've had lower back pains surrounding two huge muscle knots at the base of my spine (probably from improper form while rucking and lifting). Ive had them for at least 3 years, and its gotten bad to the point that I would wake up in the middle of the night to shooting pains in my back. During my first appt in February of this year, Dr. Wong identified the problem area, adjusted and stretched me out accordingly, and taught me how not only lifting but ab related workouts that engage my hip flexors can negatively affect my lower back if I continue using the wrong form. If you're feeling hopeless, this is the place for you. I have been to a few places the past year or so looking for a cure to my shoulder/neck pain. I have seen physical therapists and a chiropractor but they never explained to me what was wrong except overuse of muscles. Getting your back cracked is amazing but know that chiropractors do much more than that! I went to see Dr Wong for my poor shoulder rotations. I could barely get my arms to rotate backwards. What a different in care, a complete day and night coming from larger sized chiropractic office. The difference, if you haven't been to other practices is that, with many larger offices they have a 5 to 1 doctor to patient ratio, where the doctor's focus is split up. At Innovation Chiropractic, Dr. Wong is solely focused on you. His goal is to get you back to what you need to do. On my initial visit he took his time to diagnose me and then carefully explained with diagrams, why I am experiencing these symptoms (in my case it was lower back pain). I have known Dr. Yuking for about 1.5 years from the other office he used to work. He is very knowledgeable, ethical, professional and has great bedside manner. Personally, I prefer a physical therapist who workout or have extensive knowledge beyond textbook. Dr Wong is definitely the one and I am thrilled that he has his own practice now. Dr. Yuking doesn't rely on gadget to work on injury and muscle tightness and pain, which I greatly appreciate it. He combines his technique with stretching, hand work, chiropractic adjustments and the use of faktr tool to breakdown muscle knots and discomfort. At the same time, he can find all other tightness without me telling or being specific to him. One time I told him that I have muscle tightness around my elbow from keg press and he pointed out that it was actually because of the surrounding muscles, such as shoulder, bicep and tricep. So he worked on those area for 2-3 visits and the elbow pain disappears like it never happens before. I see him 1-2 days a week as a form of weekly maintenance from heavy and intense workouts. I do both crossfit and strongman. At the same time, I also workout in the gym. I hate to admit that some of my crossfit techniques need much improvement. He always points out what's wrong with my technique and how to improve it. He also advises me what accessory workouts I need to do for a certain muscle group to prevent from further injury. Furthermore, he gives me a detailed explanation why certain movements have more prone to injury than others and what's the best substitute workouts for that. These are the reasons why I only prefer a physical therapist who actually does the workouts rather than studies them based on theory. Hands-on experience is always much more valuable than what the textbook says. A big plus for him is that he doesn't diss any crossfit or strongman workout I do. There are so many sport chiropractors and physical therapist who know nothing about crossfit and all they talk are "how dangerous it is". Dr Wong is very open-minded with all choice of sports and workouts. For those who have no insurance, bad insurance plan, and high deductible, he is the person to go to. He makes sure that his service is accessible and affordable to ensure everyone deserves high quality of physical therapy. He builds his business practice to be as ethical as possible, which is very rare nowadays. He won't ask you to do any unnecessary steps to cut your deductible down. A lot of chiropractor out there will ask you to get MRI, X-ray, and all other unnecessary treatments that will cost you even more money before you get the actual treatment. Though If needed, he will prescribe you to see him for few times to address your injury. In addition, he is very generous with his time. One session takes 30 minutes and I never wait for longer than 5 minutes. It's not too hassle to book appointment with him as he is very easy to work with.
