I've seen my share of chiropractors in my life and finding a good chiropractor is like finding a good mechanic, you keep going back to the same one. My last chiropractor, Dr Phil Wilner, who I was a patient of for more than 10 years and who is a fantastic chiropractor, decided to move his practice to Colorado. That was in 2009. Anyways for a few years I was in limbo, I tried a few chiropractors but didn't find anyone who's adjustments worked for me. At one point I gave up and bought an inversion table. Basically its machine that flips you upside down to stretch and straighten out your back. Unfortunately that only does so much and one day I saw Dr Benedikt on Amazon's local deals and decided to give him a try since it was close to where I work. The initial consultation was pretty standard stuff but the back adjustment was exactly what I was looking for (muscle stim, upper back adjustment, hip and neck). YMMV but I've been a patient of Dr. Benedikt's for a year and a half. I go for a back adjustment every month or two. The only thing I wish is, my previous chiropractor put heated towels or heat pads over the area where he did the muscle stims. Aside from that I've been a happy patient. read more

I now have been going to Dr. Benedikt for 5+ years and am upping my review to 5 stars because I have received excellent care here. I appreciate the ease of making an appointment. Most of the time I just email him and he gets back to me right away. He is there Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri. I have problems in my neck and shoulder and my lower back and if I didn't come here for regular maintenance I would be in a lot of pain and walking around NYC like the Tin Man. He recently adjusted my jaw which I had no idea that it could be done and it has really helped relieve the pressure from my TMJ. If I have a question or concern, he answers it right away and also gives me suggestions for stretches I can do to help relieve the pain in my muscles. He can also answer questions about nutrition and recommend vitamins/supplements if needed. Chiropractic care is definitely a holistic approach to things which I also appreciate. He talks A LOT. Lectures, is a better term. While he seems knowledgeable in his area of treatment, he often exceeds his expertise, which can have a negative effect on his credibility. His diagnostic process is superficial and rushed and he doesn't seem interested in listening to the history of a condition, previous treatments, or looking at test results. I wasn't going to post, since it's been a long time since I was seen by him, but then I read the review about the neck treatment gone awry and it felt familiar. I'm sure he is very helpful to some patients with straightforward soft tissue concerns. If you have serious issues, probably better to find another practitioner or go to an MD. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE; I am not one to complain or ruin someone's rep but his greediness and inability to listen to someone's problems was shocking. Originally went in for a shoulder problem I have, he was talking on the phone making me feel as though I was interrupting him , and WORST part was he completely cracked my neck in the worst possible way when I never asked him to do anything but check my shoulder out. He showed no interest once He demanded the cash upfront and even offered bottle of herbal medicine and next thing you know he charged an extra $60 for them when I never wanted them. He said I couldn't return them because he already opened the bottle ! I went 30 days ago and since then I still can't move my neck..he didn't even check my shoulder, just did the usual 1,2 back crack and neck crack without my permission and this resulted in me needing Neck surgery because he tore a muscle on the back left part of the neck. I haven't been able to sleep , move , or do much of anything because of the agonizing pain in my neck, all because he decided to crack it and get me out of the room as soon as possible and make me make another appointment for two days later when he didn't even do anything the first meeting. I now have to go to specialist for Neck problems and focus on neck issues, resulting me in missing work and putting me in a very bad mood all together. Nothing worse than a stiff neck and especially when a chiropractor is the one to create this new injury for being careless. I always knew chiropractors make sure to make u have reasons to come back to them since it is a business after all...but when I never had neck problems my entire life, never cracked it before ...and he suddenly cracks it in the worst way possible when I just want my shoulder to get healed from an accident....I now have to pay for the additional doctor appointments and missing work and being in bad moods, losing sleep. You changed part of my life in the worst way possible and it's civil battery when a Chiro touches parts of your body you never allowed them too. Do I know where Togo from here ? No , but I know I won't be seeing chiropractors anytime soon... If they did actually fix an issue you have, you wouldn't go back to them and they wouldn't have any business, so for them to keep you as a customer, it's not because they care for your body, it's because they want more money from your insurance. read more

I came to see Dr. Benedikt about 10 yrs ago with severe low back pain. I had been given a doom and gloom prognosis from a previous chiropractor. Needless to say, I was in pain and was scared of what my future would be like. He looked at my MRI results, explained what it showed, explained what was going in in my body, calmed my fears by explaining that in fact, it was not doom and gloom and that I would have this condition all my life, but, it was quite manageable. After a few visits of Dr. Benedikt treating me with laser therapy, cold packs, electric stim and manipulations, I could stand, walk, sit and sleep without pain.
