Newer Volvos, typically 2015 and up, absolutely require dealership access to program keys, which can cost several hundred dollars. I hate cold calling service companies and having to figure out if they are good or not. But this is one of those times where the service I requested was done and I was not charged an arm and a leg. I originally spoke to Avi locksmith and they were going to charge me $600 for putting a hole in my door and putting in a new lock they provided. Luckily, Joel called me to tell me he was gonna do it for $200 and told me which lock to buy at Home Depot for $44. I absolutely suggest you go with Jax Lock Express. Can't say enough good things about this company. Absolutely wonderful service. Joel came out, and I presented him with a MASERATI clone key which needed to be programmed. This is not the easiest key to program. Joel stuck with it, went through several different programming methods and made a perfect copy. This company is WONDERFUL! I came home, opened the garage door and parked my car. I took my handbag and keys into the house then went back to unload the car. When I went to open the door from the garage into the house - it wouldn't open. It wasn't locked - it just wouldn't open.
