I feel like Jaws Topokki can easily get overlooked amid all the great options at Haven City West Covina. But DO NOT overlook this spot. They have great casual options. I wouldn't necessarily consider the items on the menu as a "full meal" unless you order from the set menu. I wanted to try a bunch of different things, so I got the "Duo Set" and the Bulgogi Gimbap. I selected the Rose Topokki because it's more mild and it was pretty good! The Deep Fried set that it comes with is fine (nothing too extraordinary). I did really enjoy their gimbap and highly recommend ordering one! Overall, the staff was super nice and patient. Food quality and taste was great. Another great spot at HCWC!

Jaws Topokki is located in Haven City Market and offers a solid, if not particularly unique, take on topokki. I ordered the regular mild soup topokki for $13.99, which came in a decent portion size. The dish included half a dumpling (which felt a bit odd), a quail egg, and thin fish cakes. The flavor was good but leaned on the sweeter side and tasted like it had a fair amount of MSG. The rice cakes were longer and thinner than usual, but they had a nice texture. Service was kind but nothing out of the ordinary. They were a bit slow in getting orders out even during non busy times, and after ordering, they provided a buzzer for pickup. There were plenty of tables nearby for seating, making it easy to find a place to sit and eat. Overall, it was a decent experience, but not something I'd go out of my way for.

I crave this combo meal set every week. It has the perfect amount of each item- kimbap, tteokbokki, and fried food. So filling and delicious!

Cheap. Delicious. Nutritious. Fast. I just needed a quick filling bite to eat and this place was wonderful! I really enjoyed getting to do some studying on the second and third floors of the mall, and then getting to pop upstairs and try one of the strip mall restaurants like this! The service was also very helpful explaining different entrees to me.

Everything was good but my god, those mozzarella balls. I am not a mozzarella stick fan but wow these are soooooo good. I would come back just for the cheese balls.

Duo Set - fried set + upgraded to rose tteokbokki + cheese

Jaws Topokki offers Korean street food that are easily shareable and doesn't have as long of a wait as other stalls in Haven City Market. We ordered the Duo Set and upgraded to the rose tteokbokki + cheese. Rose Tteokbokki (4/5) - This creamy milder version of tteokbokki was packed with flavor and an assortment of ingredients. I loved the added quail eggs. Fried Set (4/5) - The assortment of fried vegetables and seaweed wrapped noodles were perfect for dipping into the tteokbokki sauce.

Very good Topokki, satisfying all my cravings. I got the combo set which was enough to feed 2-3 people. Everything was seasoned incredibly well. The Topokki was mild but I still thought it was on the spicy side (I am very bad with spice, a whole bag of Hot Cheetos takes me a while to finish). The deep fried set was super yummy! The texture was crunchy and not oily. The Bareum had a nice crunch and light flavor. Parking varies depending on the day. Weekends tend to be very busy.

One of the first things I tried at the Haven City Food Hall. They specialize in Topokki while offering other Korean main stays like gimbap and bulgogi bowls. Like most of the other places, the counter was bright and clean. You order at the counter and they give you a pager for when your food is ready. Handy if you want to do some quick shopping at the attached GW. I ordered their standard Topokki which came out piping hot with everything spicy and cooked through. I can handle spice just fine but I still waited for things to cool down. I've only had Topokki fresh once and the other times out of a frozen bag, but this wasn't bad. They also had a collab deal with the Monday to Sunday Dessert Cafe next door where you could get a drink at a big discount if you had your Jaws receipt.

Wish I ordered other things from this place, but the bulgogi bowl was sold out. I just ordered cheese sticks, they were cheap, but it didn't have much flavor in them. Fast pace. Service was good.

I decided to give JAWS a try, and it turned out to be quite delicious! I ordered the rose tteokbokki, and it had the perfect balance of spice and flavor. I loved how creamy it was, though I do wish the portion was a bit bigger--there was more sauce than rice cakes. The fried set, however, was amazing! Everything was perfectly deep-fried, and dipping it into the rose tteokbokki sauce was chef's kiss. The prices are fairly reasonable, though I think the best value comes from ordering the set menus. The food came out quickly, and the service was great overall.

I was excited that one of these open nearby so now I don't have to go to the Buena Park location. I'll be honest it is a BIT pricy, but the portions are large and quite shareable. There are also lots of combos that will allow you to try a bit of everything. Their food is made and fried fresh, so it comes out piping hot once your buzzer calls you over to pick up your meal. We got the: 1) Duo Set: -Says its shareable for 2, but I think it's a much larger portion than that. -Comes with a topokki and fried set. -I paid an extra dollar to upgrade my standard topokki into their creamier, slightly less spicy rose flavor. Very tasty and the topokki actually comes with a good amount of rice cakes, some crunchy bits, kimchi, fishcake, etc. -Fried set includes pumpkin, squid, sweet potato, seaweed roll, and dumpling (if I recall correctly). -The fried stuff came out freshly fried, so it takes some time for it to cool down. Comes with a tiny side of tempura dipping sauce, but honestly, just dipped it into my rose topokki instead for a nice creamy kick. 2) Tuna Gimbap: -Tuna mayo, sesame leaf, and pickled daikon. -Comes with a whopping 10 pieces, with the end pieces being slightly more decorative. -They're not that flavorful on their own, unfortunately, could have used slightly more mayo in the tuna salad and sesame taste, but nothing dipping it in some sauce won't fix. Definitely dip your gimbap into the sauce for the rice cakes, gives it a nice kick of flavor. Even with sharing this with 2 other people I had a lot left over to take home to share with my family as leftovers too. Overall not bad if you're craving Korean snack foods.

The food was pretty good and the price was pretty reasonable for the portion that we got I think. Ok price for the portion. Food was good and as expected nothing wrong with it. It did take about 15 minutes to make, and the menu does notify you of that. What I expected from rose tteokbeoki. There were also some chewy strands that I was unfamiliar with, but they tasted chewy and crispy. Make sure you ring the bell if no one is at the cash register. TLDR - just rice cakes, okay as expected, enjoyed the chewy crispy strand

Jaws Topokki was stop #3 out of 5 on my 3rd visit to Haven City Market in West Covina. I was curious what type of foods they sell. Well, they primarily sell Korean topokki bowls plus gimbap and other misc food items. Restaurant front is bright. Counter space is plenty. I asked the nice lady behind the counter what she would recommend. She was kind to offer her favorites. Rose Topokki Soup and Bareun Gimbap were the items I got. So glad I did! They were both super delicious and yummy. Thank you Miss! Love the rich and smooth plus sweet and savory soup! The topokki (rice cake) was very soft and tender. I couldn't stop eating them. Yum, yum! The pork belly and fish cake were very tasty. The whole bowl was just divine! I would get this bowl every time and I have so far LOL. As for the gimbap, super good! At the time, I didn't know about the potential dipping sauces that would make them even tastier. Now I know after another nice staff lady offered me a couple complimentary sauces... YES, get the spicy mayo, sriracha mayo, and wasabi mayo sauces to compliment the gimbap! Thank you Miss!! I will be getting these sauces in my future purchases for sure. I have been here twice now and both ordering experiences have been fantastic. Keep doing what you're doing Jaws! Thank you for sharing your delicious foods with us. I'll be back for more yummy soups and gimbap!

Ordered three different items just because I got try them out

There is even a page that posts about all the closed malls. It's on FB if you want to look for it. It's sad really, if you think about it. Where will you go when there are no more malls to go hang out on a Saturday afternoon? Or when you have teens full of energy that just need a safe and non threatening environment? Where will you go if you just want to get out of the house for a couple hours and maybe get a snack or meet a friend after work ? Bars are not the only places to hang out. Although, those are quietly disappearing too. If you'd like to keep this mall, social space, and have a place to hang out like we did before 2020 told you to stay home and pushed online, ama zon shopping on you. It was planned. Go see how much ama zon is worth now. I digress. The mall is a community center for gathering. Of course there are parks, but what about when it rains or it's too hot outside ? Come on we live in the valley. The summer can be very hot and we need to geo somewhere to cool down. Right ? The mall needs more visitors to stay alive. It's a slightly above average mall. Better than the other mall in the area for sure, but does not…read moreeven hold a candle close to the Santa Anita Mall. But I can at least guarantee that the mall is always lively and there's plenty of parking. Lots of restaurants around and across the street too. What I like best about this mall is their effort to foster community here, such as the Dia de los Muertos display or when I happened to walk pass a Bluey Xmas dance party and you can take pictures with Santa AND Bluey. Super cute. One time years and years ago, they had a scavenger hunt for Christmas where you search around the mall to take photos with your phone for an ornament. I really liked that I did that and got to spend time with my family. I've seen so many shops come and go here and pieces of my childhood through adolescence such as the Disney Store (I remember spending time here looking through that giant plushie pile), the merry go round, Surf City Squeeze (always thought their mascot looked cool, now replaced with a Pop Mart vending machine), Nothing But Silver (went here lots with my mom and aunts), Sanrio Surprise, Amapola Deli and Market (crazy they tried to open a market in here), the hermit crab vendor, McDonald's that my mom would always get my brother and I and the vendors that would try to sell stickers at our table, the dollar store on the upper floor above Baskin Robbins, the used bookstore and so much more. Huge chunk of nostalgic memories for me, but today it's decent mall with most things that you would need. Some shops I go to often to get gifts or pick up something for myself, See's (thanks for closing PH location), Hot Topic, Bath and Body Works, Miniso, etc. At least the Tilt arcade here is still open. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but if you're already here, might as well enjoy malls before more of them perish.
