The food was great but the margaritas... ehh Last year my riding and I went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner and I was trying to find it. The food was awesome, the margaritas were fantastic and served in mason jars. This name of this place sounded familiar to me so we came here. We went in thinking this was the place and was seated quickly. They served chips and a green salsa right away, my riding buddy thought that the salsa we had before was red. We ordered our usual margaritas anticipating a good cocktail. When the drinks came we were a little disappointed that they were not in a mason jar. We were very disappointed that the margaritas tasted like there was no tequila in them, it was like drinking mix. I finished mine fairly quickly and when the server brought the food We mentioned how the margaritas tasted like there was no alcohol in them. He explained that the margaritas are pre-made in batches, a margarita should always be made fresh from scratch in my opinion. I asked for another and also asked that there be alcohol in this one. He brought the second one and the flavor was much improved, it no longer tasted like just mix. My riding buddy ordered a second and her drink still tasted like mix only so I ordered a shot. Really good Mexican food in a cute atmosphere. This place is a little deceiving from the outside but we really enjoyed it! It was cute inside and festive. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious! The menu items were fresh, well - prepared, and reasonably priced (especially given the current rise in food prices). The house strawberry margarita was really tasty as well. Overall, really great meal and experience. If you're looking for tasty Mexican food in the Racine area, highly recommend coming here. It's hard to find good Mexican food when I have my favorites in Chicago that I love to frequent. I found Javier's Cuisine on YELP and decided to give it a go. The reviews are on par- this place is the best place I've found so far to have Mexican in Wisconsin. The ambiance is super cute- they have adorable decorations and it's just a friendly spot with tons of parking. The staff is friendly and we were sat right away. They gave us warm chips and salsa and the salsa was good. I'm not sure if the chips were house made but the flavor was good. I'm a horchata snob since it's my favorite Mexican drink. The horchata at Javier's wasn't the best but it was okay. It wasn't very sweet and less rich in flavor. For food I ordered the chile relleno and it was pretty good. The rice and beans were tasty. Bf ordered a combo plate and he thought it was pretty flavorful. I will definitely return to Javier's next time I'm craving Mexican food in Wisconsin! read more

1st time. My order included 1 margarita on the rocks, blended sangria margarita, pork sopes, and steak tacos. All were great and the service was quick. Distanced seating and they even took some very clever safety precautions. They had the menus under the plastic table cloth to decrease touching them and also very clearly marked pens and cleaning supplies for when you paid. Will be back again. read more

Never had a bad meal here. In the fall they have a butternut squash soup with a Mexican twist that is just amazing. I am someone who prefers making my own soup but this is my one exception. I normally get take out but never had any service issues when dining in. My family just prefers take out. Cannot comment on the drinks, which I know is popular at Mexican restaurants, but can say the food is great. read more

Yes...it's ALWAYS a treat. In 10 plus years of eating there and at the former location, I have never had a bad meal. It should be called Javier's Casa de Sabor. (Javier's House of Flavor). While you can get a substantial amount of heat if you wish, the food flavor is what comes out of the kitchen and makes the meal outstanding.. If you haven't been ....go and treat yourself. read more

We visited Javier's on a recommendation from a friend for a non-chain Mexican restaurant in the area. It was a great recommendation. We were seated right away. Our waitress was new, like it was her first day, but she was fantastic and found answers to questions we asked that she didn't know the answer to. The owner's wife was around many times to make sure we were doing well. The Harvest Butternut Squash soup was to die for, we loved the green salsa with our chips... and speaking of chips, they're so light and crisp! Mexican paradise, in the middle of nowhere.....no kidding! We just got back from an incredible meal at Javier's, found and recommended by none other than our fellow Yelpers. We are out of town and staying in between a driving trip from Milwaukee to Chicago and needed dinner between the two. Our hotel has the junky fast food outside of it so I turned to Yelp and discovered Javier's due to the already high ratings.....and I'm glad that we not only picked it but that I can add to the 5-star conglomerate. We entered what looks like a beautifully converted old Wendy's or Burger King, I'm not sure which one it once was but they definitely revamped the place well enough where it has taken on new character. We were immediately greeted by a friendly face who seated us within seconds. The young lady also ended up being our waitress, she was sweet and always accommodating......the staff certainly had a family feel to them although I'm not sure if they are all related or not. We were served a wonderful bowl of chips and roasted salsa upon sitting down and neither of us could stop eating it, one of the most authentic salsas I've ever been given for free. I ended up ordering a meager $2 cup of guacamole as an added flavor profile to the crispy chips, for that price it was tough to pass up. For dinner we had a giant bowl of tortilla soup with the broth added table side. I don't know if it's because I am in Wisconsin or not but the cheese curds utilized in the soup made it one of the best I've ever had and it's a dish I often order out at Mexican places. My only minor complaint is I wish there were more tortilla strips. Other than that, the spices were perfected, the shredded chicken wasn't dry and it all came together incredibly well....I'm going to miss not easily getting back to this place to get another bowl before leaving the area. My SO had the fish tacos, four of them for less than $10, what a steal. We ordered two hard shell and two soft so that we could share with one another. They weren't exactly loaded with fish (also unsure of the type of fish used) and there was a bit too much cheese smothered on top for my liking but they were certainly good enough to order again and I can't stress enough that it is an awesome deal for little money. The rice it came with was a bit dry but that was very minor since the flavor was still strong. With no room for dessert, we walked out of there with a bill less than $25.....satisfied, satiated and now sleepy. We'll likely never be back but take my word for it if you're a local, don't hit up any of the chain restaurants on this main stretch of highway....head to Javier's ASAP. read more

Javier's is amazing! The food is always well prepared and full of flavor. They have a diverse menu, full of veggie, seafood, chicken, beef or pork options. Anyone can find something they like here. The real reason I wrote this review is because of our waitress, Jayden. She is seriously amazing each time we come. She is consistent and extremely vibrant and friendly. We feel lucky when we get her. She is an amazing server, and if she's having a bad day you can never tell. Great girl. We have always loved Javier's but I finally had to write this on her behalf! Are you going to come up with any original sauces? Love this place! On our most recent trip we started with the avachetta, basically Mexican bruschetta. It was different and delicious. For my main I had the shrimp enchiladas, awesome. The fact I ordered shrimp in and of itself attests to the quality of this restaurant ( I don't order seafood from just any restaurant, it has to be a place I trust). My companion ordered the steak and portobello quesadilla which is always fantastic. In a city with literally dozens of good Mexican restaurants this definitely tops the list, a must stop. read more
