I have gone here for years and keep going back. I love enjoying smoothie bowls on the patio with my dog on a nice day. I love grabbing a seasonal latte or trying a new flavored cold foam. I love how they have cute stickers and change the colors of their straws to match the season/holiday. The chalk board is always done up nicely too. Basically they pay attention to detail. They added a cute book swap area too by cozier seating and this was another nice touch. I like how they make a customer feel like it's a good place to stay awhile. I am always looking for new places to try. I happen to follow Java Shack on socials and always see their yummy pictures of their food and coffees, so I had to see for myself what it was all about. The day I went, they had several customers in line and in their seating area, so I was not able to talk a lot of pictures to show how nice it was inside, but it was really nice and well decorated. I'm all about the esthetics that make the visit inviting, and it definitely had that. The associates were pleasant and quick to take my order. The food all looked so good, but I chose a cheese Danish and the limited time iced iced Zebra Latte. It was ready quickly, and it was the best cheese Danish I've actually had. I will definitely be going back again soon to try some of the other items and lattes on their menu. Take a trip to visit them if you have not been yet. I came here one afternoon to enjoy a latte in the sunny weather. This coffee shop has is cozy inside with plenty of tables outside. Upon walking inside, you see the huge colorful and aesthetically pleasing menu board. I ordered a iced caramel latte w soy even though they have so many flavorings I don't see often like mudslide and cupcake. The latte was rgood! I also got the veggie hummus wrap. It has cheese- so I don't think it's vegan- just for anyone who has dietary restrictions. Overall a good experience. My only complaint is it was a bit sticky on the tables and counters. read more

I have been looking for another quality coffee shop in the area that has more parking than Mirasol's - I heard about Java Shack having good coffee and ample parking, so I figured I'd give it a try! I ended up getting the Karma açaí bowl - the bowl was so delicious and fresh, and was presented beautifully in a coconut shell bowl! The restaurant was extremely clean with an extensive menu for breakfast and lunch. They is plenty of seating, including outdoor tables on a patio with umbrellas. I loved the food and atmosphere at Java Shack, and am so glad I found out about it! This will most likely become my new go-to coffee shop in the area! read more

It was the power of Instagram and Java Shack posting photos of their massive donuts that brought us to Dartmouth and we are sure glad we made the trip. Java Shack is located in an industrial building and doesn't stand out externally but once you make your way inside you'll find a great little coffee shop. The staff was friendly and inviting and quickly took our order. I had a dark roast coffee that was very good and opted for the breakfast burrito. When I tell you that this burrito was probably one of the best I ever had you have to believe me and go try one for yourself. Eggs, bacon, salsa, cheese, potatoes and beans were all packed into the tortilla and made for quite the breakfast meal. Two in our group had bagels with cream cheese and a sausage, egg and cheese on a cheese bagel rounded out our order. Except, of course, we had to try donut so had a vanilla frosted donut that was about the size of a man-hole cover and was packed with flavor. Java Shack had some gigantic gourmet donut options available, as well, for those who are seeking a donut adventure. An iced vanilla latte received great reviews from one of my co-diners, as well. Pricing was very reasonable given the quality of the food and drink and this would definitely be a place we would stop back to if back in the Dartmouth area again. read more

I went to the Java shack today as a regular, and I was served a soupy açaí bowl which was inedible, I than was asked if I would like to "wait a 1/2 hour for someone to remake me one" to which I asked for a refund and I was only given a "partial refund". Which left me paying $7 for a poorly made small unsweetened iced tea. I'm sad to say that I will not be returning and I would no longer recommend to anyone. read more

The coffee is okay: not great: the food is okay, not great. The solo star is because of an experience that I had when I visited the shop yesterday. First, The service is very slow and if you order anything that's cooked a sandwich or anything it takes forever. Yesterday, however, made it clear that this is not a place that I will visit again. My friend went to put cream in his coffee and the lid wasn't on the cream dispenser, so when he went to pour out the cream, the lid came off, and the cream spilled everywhere. Accidents happen. Things are overlooked. That's OK. The problem was the attitude of the work staff when I asked for a napkin. Because there were no napkins anywhere, and there was cream everywhere, and my friend had cream dripping all over, I needed to go to the counter to get a napkin. The young lady was very angry, that I inconvenienced her by asking her for a napkin, and gave me three which were not sufficient. I then returned and asked her for some more napkins and she rolled her eyes at me and said I'll be over there in a minute. Meanwhile, the cream is spilling all over the floor, and my friend is still standing there, dripping with cream. Another young lady came over and asked what would you like and I asked for a stack of napkins. she gave me three and I said that's not sufficient she gave me more so I was able to go over and clean up their counter. Again, just to be clear, I understand that things go wrong and yes, it was inconvenient for the cream to spill all over the place and get all over my friend, but the attitude of the wait staff was so poor, that it will be impossible for me to ever visit this establishment again. read more

Ingredients were açaí, kiwi, banana, blueberries, honey, granola and chia seeds. (sorry if I missed any). OMG this was seriously life changing. The quality of the ingredients were impeccable. This place is a joke. I went in to get Alvarado toast and a drink. When I entered the store there was no one in their. They took my order then at least 10 people came in after me. They were in and out while I was still waiting for 30 min. I just ordered a Alvarado toast. Never going to this place again. Terrible customer service. I never heard toast taking 30 min. I went to Java shack for lunch not expecting much and I can tell you that the iced coffee I received was one of the best I have ever had- robust, smooth, and not at all watered-down like DD. The quality of the coffee really stands out. I really wasn't expecting much from the Cobb salad that I ordered and I was similarly blown away by how delicious that was as well. The salad had plenty of chicken, a perfectly ripe sliced avocado, and a generous amount of crisp bacon all atop fresh greens. The staff was working very hard and efficiently and I only waited about 5 minutes for my order at peak lunch rush around noon. Highly recommend this place! read more

Easy to drive by. I thought it may have closed. The coffee is quite good. Lava hot and flavorful. The downside was the food & service. My muffin came right out of a refrigerator, ice cold. It was in the bag before I knew it. The biggest deduction is service. They never asked if I wanted my muffin warmed. "Here you go" turn and exited to the rear of the restaurant. I've ordered from here probably more than 25+ times since they've opened. I work close by so its convenient for lunches. From the start I've recognized the behavior of the employees to be very inattentive, rude, and always with an attitude. However the food is good so even though I never liked dealing with the employees I still enjoyed the food. It became convenient when they got an online ordering site where I choose the time and day I want to pick up. However today was the day that broke the camels back... I was picking up an order at 12pm. I have a 30 minute lunch so time is of the essence. There were 3 girls behind the counter and after 8 minutes of waiting I had the opportunity and I told one I was picking up as I could see my food in front of me on the counter. She told me I was going to have to wait until the people ahead of me ordered... All I needed was my food to be handed to me. Why do I have to wait behind people who don't know what they want to order... It wasn't until one of the girls noticed I was getting frustrated when they finally asked my name and then finally handed the bag that I was standing next to right to me. I waited 13 minutes in a line to pick up my already paid food that was sitting on the counter. The food was cold when I got to eating it. Maybe I'm used to the convenience of picking up orders from Panera, Tropical Smoothie, Jersey Mikes where you just go up and grab your food. Customer service needs some serious help here. Edit to respond to owner Andrew's response: I understand there has been restrictions due to Covid but in that instance when I said I was picking up the worker could've at least asked my name and acknowledged me and maybe brought it around the counter to me knowing I had already been waiting for over 8 minutes but instead I got a snippy response about how I had to wait. The people in front of me were not picking up they were ordering. Considering you are doing mostly take out orders because of the pandemic maybe you should consider a designated pick up spot. I also work with someone who has stopped ordering from you because of the long pick up waits so this is very well affecting your business. You are running a business with many other businesses that reside next to it and many of the people that are ordering from you are going on their break time... time is valuable but I guess from your response peoples time doesn't concern you or that food people are eating is no longer hot. Also a response about doing curbside... last time I tried doing curbside an employee told me you weren't doing that anymore and to come in to pick up the order... Also to note I previously had so many issues even getting through the phones so I believed going in would've made everyone's life a little easier. When you were doing only curbside was the only time things flowed smoothly because you had a designated person running orders. Now why do I label the staff inattentive and rude you ask... Well every time I go in they hardly ever greet you. They chit chat behind the counter and act as if you are bothering them when you call or go in. I know its not hard to throw on a smile once in a while and act happy to see customers. Maybe when you are around you don't notice it because they act a certain way when you're around but it is very clear. The atmosphere is very unwelcoming. The employees look miserable to even be working there. I didn't feel a need to contact you about my experiences first because my review would not have changed. It's been so many reoccurring instances that have made me uncomfortable and unacknowledged that I've just become so frustrated. I wish you good luck in your future as a business owner but I think you should take a true hard look at your coffee shop and take any criticism or praise that your receive and actually act upon it instead of pretty much blaming it on me for not ordering "curbside" or a pandemic. read more

Nice atmosphere, near the Southcoast Filness center. I'd add a star if they get on board with some non-American wheat options for their sandwiches. I had the wake up breakfast bowl of granola fruit and yogurt, very tasty, hard to get it wrong ya know? And the strawberry kombucha tastes very tangy and raw. Nice. Lots of love for anyone seeking to create an amazing new experience in the South Coast. LOVE Kombucha on tap. Had a nice Cobb Salad but it was missing two key items; the protein and avo. The protein came after we were almost done, once we told them it was missing. The avo as unavailable as it was not ripe. The outdoor tables are great but the missing umbrellas made it hot for enjoying a meal. The inside is lovely but I prefer outdoor dining in the summer. There is cold brew which my bf enjoyed. I got lost on the way to work and pulled into this place to turn around. Since I was already late I figured I might as well treat myself to a latte since it was right there. I walked in and was impressed by how cute the place was inside. They have a huge dining area for such a small cafe and it was very inviting. The menu was what you'd expect from a coffee shop only with more healthy and enticing spin on it. After looking over the menu, I went with my usual vanilla latte. I was feeling wild so I got the 32oz! It wasn't the most flavorful latte I've had, but you could taste how fresh and authentic it was. It got me through the entire morning and most of the afternoon! My first time here was awesome, so much so that I was building it up to my husband and we chose it again for a quick lunch while out doing errands. If I hadn't been before and seen the contrast I wouldn't be back. As others have said the staff are very inattentive and outright annoyed to have to deal with customers/aren't helpful when you're out of something. During our transaction we had 2 different people finish our order bc they were having side conversations talking over me ordering with friends who walked in after us. Going to give it another try bc the machiatto and cranberry chicken salad sandwich(out) were great. Went to go get an açaí berry bowl and this is what they gave me... mainly fruit and what looks like the leftovers of what was in the blender from the bowl before! We really like the food here so it really is a shame that the girls behind the counter aren't friendly or helpful at all. They also stop serving certain food items way before closing time which is frustrating when you drive 20 minutes from the horseneck beach area and get there well before closing time just for them to tell you they can't make you a BLT!! read more
