My daughter and I heard such great things about this coffee spot. Perhaps I had high expectations? I really really wanted to like it. THIS WAS THE WORST COFFEE I HAVE EVER HAD! We waited about 30 min to get our drinks. It super busy so it was expected. I ordered the wicked monkey and my daughter ordered the mocha anu. When I took the first sip, I immediately spat it out! It literally was sludge! It tasted like there was no water added just straight foam and coffee grounds with a hint of banana! It was non drinkable! My daughter's drink tasted like coconut water with a little bit of coffee! Both coffees went straight into the trash! So disappointed! Perhaps tourists hype this place up way too much cause let me just say, I really don't like Starbucks and their burnt coffee ground flavor BUT Java Kai made me think Starbucks tasted better! read more

If your visiting Kauai this is one of my favorite coffee shop to go to and I'll definitely be going back when I visit again! They have a variety of food selections and beverages. They also sell clothings and stickers and a bunch of other stuff. This is definitely a tourist spot but there is plenty of room for seating outside. It's a cute little town with shops around. I got the lox bagel and an iced Mac nut latte along with a haupia bar. Everything was so delicious I went to also buy a shirt from them and it's super cute! Was told about this place by a local so we stopped to support them but the service was not worth us bringing business to them. The Coffee was good but we won't be back during our trip and yall can find some place else for coffee with better customer service. The two ladies were not interested in helping with any questions we had about the drinks(it was our first time). When they called out drinks, I went to ask if they were ours and how to know whose drink was who's, the lady walks by and says it's written on the cups without even stopping. They were labeled Mm, Sh and MC, so we had to go back to the menu to find out what the names were that we ordered and figure it out ourselves. My daughter ordered a blended hot chocolate and she got an actual hot drink, but we didn't care to switch it and she was happy with it still. It was.....ok. Sadly, the most off putting part was the staff. The coffee was okay, the food was phenomenal. I just honestly am confused by this place. It's absolutely packed so be prepared to wait in line. I watched a little girl drop water and her family was mortified. Coffee was delicious, cute little shop. Not a ton of space inside. We came back daily during our stay. You have to be very patient to come here. If you arrive anytime after 615 it's going to be almost an hour wait regardless of what you order - food or coffee. Even if you order a basic coffee it still takes this long (I ordered an iced coffee and another time a black coffee). The food we tried - avocado toast + bacon + egg, which was delicious, but way over priced (make your own, go to Safeway grab some stuff), we also tried the cinnamon rolls - not a huge fan they're very dry and the frosting they make tasted very almond-y. Also tried the mochi bar which was okay for mochi it was pretty tough and less squishy. The last day I did end up putting in a pick up order, the problem is there were no instructions of where to pick up so we waited unnecessarily waiting for the order to show up by the barista until we asked where to get the order and they told us to head to the back. Lesson learned - Skip the line, order ahead and head to the back to pick up your order (by the juice bar). read more

One of the best things I had were their Island Waffles and their Pork Belly! AHMAZING. The ambiance was quaint and cute. A bit tight on the inside, but they had plenty of outdoor seating. The parking is in the back, and when we went to had easy access to parking. Not an issue. They have 2 areas for ordering one if you are dining to go and one if you are dining in. The dining out is located nearer the parking lot, and the dining in is situated near the street parking. Located in the center and due to its bright colored building it is easily spotted. Locals seem to love it as much as the tourist do. And we had a great time. Staff was friendly and helpful with fulfilling our order and recommended some of our favorite things we had on the island. This is my absolute favorite coffee shop on the planet. The coffee is strong with amazing in house made syrups. (I wish they sold them but alas.) I recommend the iced macadamia nut or vanilla latte. The food options are also amazing. I recommend the blueberry scone if you want a snack or the surfer girl sandwich on a bagel instead of a croissant if you crave something more substantial. The staff was accommodating and worked the line quickly. There is always a line but when you don't have to be anywhere...
